00:00Hey guys, welcome back.
00:01En la última episodio,
00:02you've seen how I took singles
00:04and I played the singles.
00:09Man, really, really cool, right?
00:11We took it at 60 BPM
00:13and 80 BPM.
00:14But now, I want to show you
00:16how you can add and incorporate
00:18the double into the lick.
00:21You might think it's a simple way
00:23like just playing double stroke rolls.
00:34Nah, I have a whole nother approach to it.
00:38It goes a little something like this.
00:54Now, you add a double,
00:55but you don't play the double traditional.
00:58You add it like it's a triplet.
01:00Like a lot of people always want
01:01to intertwine the licks.
01:03But that's what makes gospel style drumming
01:06gospel style drumming.
01:07It's all about using your ear and your heart.
01:10When it comes to me and how I play drums,
01:12it's not about the transcription.
01:14I usually just throw the transcription
01:16out the window and all the stickings
01:18that you've always known in the past
01:19from a single to a double to a paradiddle
01:21to however you may have learned it,
01:24it's always better
01:26to use your ear
01:28and use your feel.
01:29Sometimes you can get it out quicker this way.
01:32So, take the same lick.
01:47The whole motion,
01:48the whole motion from this.
01:58Place it all over the kit.
02:00As you can see, I have a lot of toms,
02:02a huge array of different things.
02:05But I can take the same lick,
02:07but add a double stroke roll inside of it
02:09and make it the same thing
02:10or sound even equivalent
02:12to what I wanted to get out.
02:22Some people call it a diddle.
02:24So many ways of explaining it,
02:26but why?
02:28When you also just must feel it
02:30and come from the heart.
02:32So, let's take it at 80 ppm
02:34and let's take it up a notch
02:35just so you can see
02:36how you can get it rolling.
02:39Let's see how you can get it rolling.
02:55Let's take it up a little bit faster.
02:58100 bpm.
03:021, 2, 3, let's go.
03:15Now, what's crazy is
03:16when you play gospel chops
03:18and you see all the gospel-style drumming,
03:19these gospel licks,
03:20you know you see us do the crossovers,
03:22you just see me do a lick with one hand.
03:24So, I said...
03:26What is she said?
03:271, 2, 3, let's go.
03:45Like something completely different.
03:47Oh my God.
03:48That's what I'm saying.
03:49Just totally flip it.
03:51Exact same sticking,
03:52exact same movement.
03:53Now, you mix the two together.
03:55The single and the double.
03:57Here we go.
04:24What really makes this lick so cool is you haven't even heard me add a bass drum yet.
04:29Right.
04:30Mind-blowing.
04:31You didn't even notice
04:32because the lick plays on and on
04:34and you can play it all day off the groove.
04:36I'm going to play it with the groove.
04:37I'm going to play the lick
04:38and then I'm going to add a couple of little extras in there for you.
04:40Here we go.
04:41I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play
04:47the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then
04:53I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play
04:59the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then
05:00I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play
05:01the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then
05:01I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play
05:01the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then
05:03I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play
05:04the lick and then I'm going to play the lick and then I'm going to play
05:13oh yeah it's starting to cook yo i got another lesson for you so i'll be right back
