00:00I'm Lucy Fink and this is Five Days of Productivity.
00:08We go about our daily lives, most of our time spent at work,
00:11and I don't know about you guys, but I'm aiming to get s*** done.
00:15Everyone is trying to create more, produce more, and maximize the amount of content that they can create.
00:20Because the more productive you are, the better. Right?
00:23My job in particular is interesting because my job title is producer.
00:27My job is to take the tiniest tidbit of an idea and then formulate it into a consumable piece of
00:33video content.
00:33Like this one.
00:35But I think the mindset of trying to be more productive and to produce more stuff is relevant to everyone.
00:40Going into this video, I researched so many productivity tips.
00:43Drink more water. Exercise more. Wake up early. Clean up your mess. Sell your TV.
00:49Never doing that.
00:50But this week, I'm gonna try one thing every day to help increase my productivity,
00:54not only in my work life, but also in my personal life.
00:57Starting with day one, sunlight.
01:01This morning, I woke up a little bit earlier than normal, made my breakfast,
01:05and then took it outside and ate it in the sun.
01:07A recent study from researchers at Northwestern University concluded that getting exposure to sunlight throughout the day
01:13can help you get better sleep and lead to better physical and mental health.
01:18I gotta get outside more.
01:24I'll be honest with you, I love sitting down.
01:27But sitting down for long periods of time is not great for your blood circulation,
01:31and it can increase health risks.
01:33So for the rest of the week, I'm up.
01:35For better health and productivity, I have heard wonders, wonders about standing desks.
01:41I ordered the desk online, and then assembled it myself,
01:44and then I actually removed the current desk from my office and pushed this one into its place.
01:50It is absolutely epic.
01:52I just press an up and down arrow, and it goes up, and it goes down.
01:56I even ordered a separate balance board that keeps your feet in constant motion
01:59and helps to elevate your heart rate.
02:01So it's such an interesting and fun way to see if standing up all day and keeping my heart rate
02:05elevated
02:06can increase my daily productivity.
02:08As I was standing at my desk today, I noticed it's kind of a mess.
02:11So then I spent another 20 minutes cleaning up my desk, organizing my books.
02:16Everything looks pristine now, and I have this amazing standing desk
02:19that everyone in the office wants to try.
02:21People are gonna order them themselves.
02:23I'm really inspiring my coworkers to try to get this standing desk,
02:26and hopefully it increases our productivity as a video department.
02:29And then we can make more videos for you.
02:38Last week, when I knew I was gonna be doing five days of productivity,
02:42I decided to track all of the hours spent in a day.
02:44Of the eight hours I spent at work, only five of them were spent actually working.
02:50So I got home from work, and I got back online for another three hours.
02:55What a waste of my night.
02:56I also noticed that of my three hours spent on social media,
03:00one of those hours was spent in bed before I even sat down at my desk in the morning.
03:05So today, all of my notifications went off.
03:09I cut down my morning by 45 minutes. Wow.
03:13Today, I wanted to see what time I could get in and out of work,
03:16and get all of my stuff done.
03:18Normally I'd get home from work at 7 or 8 p.m.,
03:21but here it is, 6 p.m., I'm home from work,
03:23the only thing I had to do was this webcam,
03:25and now I'm gonna go out!
03:27Because it's New York!
03:28And I'm 24!
03:34Hey guys, it's Thursday.
03:36Truth.
03:37If I'm gonna be productive this week,
03:38then every aspect of my day needs to be as efficient as it possibly can be.
03:42According to the American Psychological Association,
03:45working out can significantly improve your mood.
03:48And researchers at the University of Warwick found that when you are happier,
03:51you could be more productive.
03:53I'm the type of person who always feels like my trips to the gym are a huge waste of time.
03:57I work out for an hour, and I never sweat, and I never get sore.
04:00But today was different.
04:02I discovered Refine Method, which is a boutique fitness studio chain in New York.
04:07The best way to use your time efficiently when you work out
04:10is to boost your metabolism by preserving, building, and activating muscle.
04:14For me, tackling a challenging workout like Refine Method
04:17is the ultimate attitude adjuster for my day.
04:20So when I'm able to conquer a challenging workout,
04:23I find that that confidence then translates into the rest of my day.
04:27I got my butt kicked for 20 minutes.
04:30And you know how normally you feel sore maybe the next morning after waking up?
04:34I felt sore the moment I stopped.
04:37I don't know what Refine Method's secret is,
04:40but I'm telling you I worked out in 20 minutes,
04:43broke a sweat, felt sore, and then headed off and finished the rest of my day.
04:46I really got in a productive workout, and it helped kickstart the rest of my day.
04:55It's Friday!
04:57Woo, woo, woo, woo!
04:59Today for me is all about forming new habits.
05:02I started today by utilizing my commute time.
05:05Why not read when I'm commuting to and from work?
05:08I also tried another method where I wrote down a task list for the weekend.
05:12It wasn't so much a list of chores or a list of things I had to do over the weekend,
05:16but rather a whole slew of health-related, personal, and mindfulness goals
05:21that I'm hoping to accomplish by the end of the weekend.
05:23And lastly, I'm setting the one-minute rule for myself.
05:27This means that if there's anything that's on my to-do list that can be accomplished in one minute or
05:31less,
05:32I have to do it immediately.
05:33There's no more pushing it off, taking out the garbage, washing my dish after I eat.
05:37I'm going to be cognizant of these little things that I need to do,
05:40and if something is going to take a minute or less, I will do it right away.
05:44Comment below if you have any more productivity tips for me,
05:47and as always, let me know what you want to see next time on TLWF.
