00:00Ever seen a giant seashell unicorn? No. Until now.
00:06Hey, I'm Carly. I'm here with Refinery29. Also here with my crew. Say hi, crew.
00:11Hey!
00:12We are in Austin, Texas. We are headed to the Bloom House to stay the night.
00:17This is Weekend House, a show where we check out some of the most interesting and unique vacation rentals from
00:23around the country.
00:24Because we could all use a little getaway.
00:30We're about five minutes away. I am so excited because I've had this home on my bucket list for so
00:36long.
00:36And I desperately needed to get out of cold, depressing, snowing New York.
00:41There's no sunshine yet, but I am hopeful and I am just so excited to be here.
00:46We are here. We are heading down the path. I can see the house and it looks gorgeous. So, let's
00:53go.
00:57We have made it. I can confirm this looks like a very big seashell. This place is a one-bedroom,
01:04one-bathroom for $500 a night.
01:06Very curious to see what it looks like on the inside. So, let's check it out.
01:11Oh, my God. This is like a work of art. Smells like fresh lemon bars. I love it. This is
01:18the living room. This is so cute.
01:21Like, very excited to hang out in this room. You know, when you like see couches, then it's like, this
01:28would be a good napping couch.
01:29Cute guitar. Some drums. Very nice furniture. Pretty little patio. And a nice fireplace.
01:41This kitchen. Oh, my God. They have these cool lights. Some chips. Hot sauce. This is my kind of place.
01:53Like, every detail in this home is unreal. Oh, my gosh. Like a little postcard.
02:01Definitely going to send one of those out. Okay. Let's keep going.
02:05All right. We got the bed. Okay. Let's see how it is.
02:12Ooh. You just kind of sink into it like butter. This will do.
02:19A very unique walk-in closet. Every detail in this home. They put so much love into it.
02:26The bathroom. Look at this shower slash tub situation.
02:36I don't really know what I expected with this home, but I did not think that there would be multiple
02:40levels.
02:42So, let's go explore.
02:46This must be the nap nook. I would definitely come up here, listen to some music, read a book, escape.
02:54Should we go outside?
02:57This is wild.
02:59I cannot wait to get a pic for the gram. It's going to be fire.
03:04Just, like, looking on to my kingdom.
03:05I've waited so long to see this home in person, exceeding my expectations.
03:11The windows kind of remind me of, like, being in a submarine.
03:15I'm going to go check out the deck now.
03:17Unlock this door.
03:19I'm, like, immediately met with this delicious, like, pine cone smell.
03:25Oh, I feel so relaxed here.
03:27I feel so just, like, calm and at ease being here.
03:32I feel like that's just how I feel every time I come to Austin.
03:35I just love it here so much.
03:37There's so much you can do here.
03:38You have downtown.
03:39You have the city life.
03:41You also have gorgeous nature spots like this.
03:44There's so much you can do.
03:46So much you can eat.
03:47Like, as a Texan, a born and raised Texan, Austin is it.
03:51This is the place.
03:53This is my bachelorette moment where they look off into the distance.
03:57Am I going to choose Brandon or Matt?
04:03I am really hungry, so I am going to go pick up some food from one of my favorite places
04:07around the area.
04:08Going to change into something a little bit comfier.
04:10I'll be right back.
04:14Much better.
04:15That stuffed avocado called my name.
04:18So let's go.
04:21I got the food.
04:23I'm so hungry.
04:25Time to eat some chips and salsa and queso.
04:28Later tonight, I'm hoping that I can maybe look at the stars for a bit and chill up in that,
04:32like, nap nook.
04:33But now I need to chow down on all this food.
04:38I came to Austin for this, the silence.
04:42Just not having to hear, like, cars honking and people yelling.
04:46Like, this is just so nice.
04:48And I kind of feel like it's, like, a nice, like, mental reset.
04:53All right, time to get my PJs on and get ready for bed.
04:58I definitely think it's important to take little breaks if you can.
05:03Get out of the city.
05:05Go visit, like, another town, another state.
05:08Just have, like, different change of scenery.
05:10I feel like we get so wrapped up in, like, our routines and everything.
05:12And it's just really nice to get outside of that, even if it's just for a night, to just relax,
05:19reset.
05:20Just be out of your apartment.
05:22Good morning.
05:25I, unfortunately, did not sleep very well last night.
05:28I think I got maybe three hours.
05:31But the bed was very comfy.
05:33And it was really nice to wake up to birds chirping outside and just, like, a very peaceful backdrop.
05:41So that was really nice.
05:42Got myself a latte, a nice bagel, and gonna be feeling good real soon.
05:49Ah!
05:52Just had my bagel, some coffee, and now it is time to get my body moving and go on a
05:57hike.
06:00Walking around the neighborhood.
06:02Y'all, the humidity here is no joke.
06:05Does not matter that it's February or that there is a snowstorm coming.
06:10Okay, I just got back from my hike.
06:12It was kind of a mini hike because it's about to rain, but it was still so nice.
06:16And that's honestly what I love about Austin.
06:17You get the city life, the downtown life, whatever.
06:20But you also get beautiful nature opportunities like this.
06:24And that's kind of the inspiration behind this home.
06:26It was two UT architecture students that wanted an escape, something out in nature, feeling, like, very peaceful, serene.
06:34For a while, it didn't even have an address.
06:35Like, it was that remote.
06:38I'd say my highs for the trip, seeing this house in person after having it saved in my phone for
06:44years.
06:44Also, just getting to feel the sun, even though it was only for, like, a few hours.
06:49It was everything I needed.
06:52As far as the house goes, I'd say my, like, only low was just hitting my head a few times.
06:59Getting used to not having your typical corners and things like that.
07:03I definitely bumped my head a lot.
07:06I definitely accomplished all my goals that I had for coming here.
07:09I wanted to reset, have a change of scenery, and it was just so nice.
07:14And I really do feel just a little bit more grounded.
07:18Oh, and I got my Tex-Mex.
07:20I got my Tex-Mex.
07:22It was so good.
07:24I got my Tex-Mex, I got my Tex-Mex, I got my Tex-Mex, I got my Tex-Mex.
