00:05I've got car keys, my water, blanket, first aid kit.
00:09I think that's all we need.
00:10Yeah.
00:11OK, bye, babies.
00:12We got to go.
00:14We got an alert about a dog that was hit by a car.
00:19Emergency situation.
00:20It's about a two-hour drive.
00:22All right, let's go.
00:23All that you can think about is we have to go get this dog as quick as we can.
00:27Some lady found the puppy in a ditch and had just been hit by a car, and she picked it
00:31up, and she was covered in blood.
00:34How old is this puppy?
00:35He's probably like six, seven months.
00:37It didn't really belong to anybody.
00:38It was kind of like a community puppy.
00:40It was a perfectly healthy dog prior to being hit by the car.
00:44This is the video.
00:46Come on, get out.
00:47No, he can't walk.
00:48And you can just tell by the pattern how much pain he's in.
00:52If no one reacts quickly, you don't know if that dog will make it and survive.
01:02It's like pitch black out here.
01:05Oh, this is it.
01:10Hi.
01:11Nice to meet you.
01:12Hi, very nice to meet you.
01:13Oh, heck yeah.
01:14The dog was like crying.
01:16Yeah.
01:16Like in pain.
01:17It's like, oh my God, I gotta go get him.
01:19Brenda found the pup in the ditch.
01:22Picked him up and brought him here.
01:24She was kind enough to bring the pup into her home.
01:29Oh, sweetheart.
01:32Poor baby.
01:34I thought you were okay.
01:35He was peeing out blood.
01:37Yeah, okay, we gotta get him to the back.
01:39Yeah, we gotta get him.
01:39Seeing a dog in so much pain, it's just gut-wrenching.
01:42This is gonna suck to me.
01:44Yeah, I think just have to pick him up, honey.
01:45He's in a...
01:50The second we tried to move him, just screaming in pain.
01:54Slow, slow, slow.
01:55There you go.
01:57It's okay.
01:57I know, I know.
02:00I know, I know, I know, I know.
02:02It's okay.
02:03It's okay, baby.
02:05You're okay.
02:05Get the door.
02:06We're gonna get him set up in the back seat.
02:10It's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
02:12There.
02:12It's okay, baby boy.
02:14There we go.
02:15There, buddy.
02:16We're gonna get you to the vet.
02:17I'm gonna sit back here with you the whole way, okay?
02:23Yeah, thank you very much.
02:25I know, it's hard.
02:26Take good care of him.
02:27We very will, yes, we will.
02:31He's in a lot of pain.
02:33Yeah.
02:35All right, let's go.
02:38It's like, all you can think about is, like,
02:39how fast can we get this dog to the vet?
02:44It's okay, sweetheart.
02:46Checking every two seconds to see if he's still breathing.
02:54What if I get a moment, please?
02:56We're dropping off a dog through K-9 Advocacy,
02:59the dog that was hit by a car.
03:00Okay, someone can come out and help you break him in, okay?
03:04Okay, sounds good.
03:05Who's there, buddy?
03:06Five minutes.
03:07Five minutes.
03:17He's in a lot of pain.
03:18I have to.
03:19Okay.
03:21Just really praying that he's gonna be okay.
03:26It's okay, sweetheart.
03:27I will have my phone on loud,
03:29and I will probably be pacing throughout the house all night.
03:32Hopefully, he can make a turnaround.
03:54I'm back at the vet this morning
03:55to check on the injured dog that we brought in last night.
03:59Hi, sweetheart.
04:04It's okay.
04:06I'm here.
04:09Those pain meds are good, huh?
04:18Got a message from Jackie from K-9 Advocacy.
04:25I knew we were waiting to hear back from the specialist.
04:32So they're gonna be putting him down at 345.
04:40The x-ray showed the worst-case scenario.
04:45Yeah, I know.
04:46I'm sorry.
04:48I'm sorry.
04:49There was too much damage done.
04:53His pelvic bones completely separated.
04:56His spine was fractured too high.
05:00I'm sorry, buddy.
05:04He would have had no quality of life.
05:08Yeah.
05:09Yeah.
05:13You just...
05:15You feel guilty that you can't save them.
05:22We gotta surround him with a lot of love
05:24before his final moments.
05:26I know.
05:28I know.
05:30I know.
05:55When it comes to the game of football and when it comes to the game of rescue, there's
06:01tough days for sure. When a dog doesn't make it, there's so many emotions that are running
06:08through you. But as a pro athlete, you've got to be able to hyper focus on the task at hand
06:16and forget about everything else.
06:22This week is going to take a whole lot of effort preparing for the first round of playoffs.
06:28How's it going? How are you guys? It's just a few days until our big playoff game in Montreal.
06:33Montreal defense. How good is it? It's a great challenge. You know, they've got a great defensive
06:37line. We know it's going to be a battle from start to finish. Playoff time is do or die. You
06:43win,
06:43you keep going, you lose, you go home. Let's go win this shit. Let's go, baby. Final game of the
06:49year,
06:49Grey Cups being played right here in Winnipeg. The city of Winnipeg want to see their bombers hoisting
06:55trophy here in Winnipeg. So that intensity just gets raised. Here we go. Two, two, two.
07:04Like everyone is banking on you to make it back. Like, don't let them down.
07:17Hello. Hi, Max.
07:20What? Who's here?
07:20Hi, Max. Brady is getting ready for his big game. He's at the stadium training. So Jasmine and I came
07:27to visit Max at his foster house today. He looks so happy. He's the dog we rescued from hollow water.
07:35There's a dog with a broken leg. He's a bit nervous. He was either attacked by dogs or hit by
07:43a car.
07:44Definitely looks like old trauma that really dislocated right at the elbow. I would say he's
07:50definitely a candidate for amputation. What's that? Look at him go. It's like he's not even missing a leg.
07:58Last time I saw him was when we took him to the vet to find out if he was going
08:01to get his arm
08:02amputated. So I haven't seen him since he's become a tripod. When he's running, you just think he's got
08:07four legs, but he's only got three. Yeah. Look how happy he is. He's so silly, hey? Very sweet. He's
08:15so happy.
08:17What a sweet boy. You couldn't do it without Foster. Absolutely. He's obviously very loved. Yeah.
08:24Now he can run and play and just live his life like a normal dog. He's good to get adopted.
08:29Let's find your forever home. Well, thanks for taking such good care of him, you guys.
08:34No problem. Okay. Bye, Maxie boy.
08:51These cars are driving slow. Yeah, I know. I gotta pee too.
08:55Brady is heading to Montreal tomorrow for the semi-finals. So we are going to go to the spa
09:00and just be stressed a little bit. Oh my God. Huh? There's rats up for adoption. They're only four
09:07weeks old. The girl from the Humane Society sent me a message saying that they had rats up for
09:13adoption. I love rats. Can I get them? No, we're not getting rats. Why? I've been asking you for two
09:20years now. I've never thought about having a pet rat. They're just kind of dirty and grimy and eat
09:26garbage. And where do they stay? In the spare bedroom. And when guests come over? Well, who needs guests
09:33when you have baby rats? Look how happy it makes me. You're nuts. Kind of sounds like a yes. Oh
09:43my God,
09:44you're going to be a rat dad. No. What do you mean no?
09:57It's so nice down here. Oh yeah. Pull it up first? No. Why? One of my favorite parts of my
10:05routine is
10:06weekly spa visits with Alex. We do it before every single game. Oh, that's cool. There's so many
10:15physical benefits to it. I go to the hot tub. Oh yeah. That's good stuff. But I think that mental
10:25aspect is even more powerful. I find myself doing some visualization of the upcoming game and
10:33thinking about certain plays. It also gives us the time to spend time with each other and
10:39something that we really look forward to. Time to move tomorrow. Fly out at one. Tomorrow I'm leaving
10:48from Montreal to get ready for the big game. Sauna time. Alex will be in attendance for the playoff game.
10:57I'm really glad she's making this trip because I'm going to be in a very hostile environment.
11:01At least I know that I have someone there that loves me, that cares about me. It means a lot
11:07to me.
11:17Come on in brother. What's up guys? Nally down. So, a little different than Bali. A little chillier.
11:25My brother John is visiting from Bali. He came out to Bali with Brady and I two years ago and
11:31never came
11:32home. Okay, so you're going to watch the doggies for us while I'm in Montreal. How many days again?
11:37Just two. Brady has already left for Montreal and I'm going to be flying in closer to game time.
11:42So what basically they stay out here. I'll feed them twice a day avocados and chocolate.
11:48John is the funniest human I've ever met. He is very loving. Is he my first choice?
11:55No. But he wanted to help. Wasabi usually sleeps in between Brady and I. Nellie sleeps under the covers.
12:02Usually like in between your legs. No, they're not going to sleep with me. I don't like to sleep with
12:05the dogs. I do like them. They'll sleep in the bed with you. Okay, so I'm going to go over
12:08everything.
12:10Listen, I feel like the dogs will have to take care of Jonathan, not the other way around.
12:16And I'm not picking up any of the dog shit. Do you know how to pick up dog shit?
12:19Yeah, I do. I just would prefer not to, to be honest. You have to.
12:22Your dog standard is beyond my capability. This right here, that's just from two days.
12:27Great. It's a lot of duty. It's a lot of duty.
12:30I mean, I don't know. I might just get someone else to watch.
12:33No, no. I think, you know, it's going to be totally fine.
12:35This is going to be a nightmare. Yeah.
12:46We're home.
12:50Hi, you little pooper-scoopers.
12:53I just picked up my two rats that I saw for adoption.
12:58Are you ready to go see your new house?
13:00I'm so excited. I'm officially a rat mom.
13:03Those are your friends.
13:10The old boy.
13:11This is where you guys live.
13:13You want to check out your new house?
13:16Brady is in Montreal, preparing for semifinals.
13:20I fly to Montreal tomorrow.
13:23I have to pack and shower.
13:25That's so cute.
13:27I'm definitely not going to get any sleep.
13:29I'm just going to be playing with my rat babies all night.
13:32Probably not the best timing, but they get adopted very quickly.
13:36We're going to call your new daddy that doesn't know about you, okay?
13:43Brady thinks he doesn't love rats, but once he meets them, game over.
13:51Hey, babe, do you want to meet your new kids?
13:54Hamath, can you come here, please, and meet your father?
13:56Look it, here he comes.
13:58This is Hamath Reginald.
14:01Is that not the cutest thing you've ever seen in your entire life?
14:03You actually did it.
14:05Yeah.
14:07Why would I be joking about something so important?
14:09Look at he's eating.
14:10Oh, my God, he's so cute.
14:11He's eating with his little hands.
14:14You could be a little more excited.
14:16I've never had a pet rat before.
14:18You know, they kind of throw you off a little bit.
14:20Babe, don't say that in front of them.
14:24She actually did it.
14:26And of course she did it when I was on the road.
14:29Smart move by her.
14:30Alex has got two rats, bro.
14:33Dembski's laughing right now.
14:34Is she kind of crazy for doing that or not?
14:36She's been on the rat thing for a while.
14:38Yeah, thank you, Dembski.
15:05Us going to Montreal.
15:08You're here for one job and one job only.
15:11And that's to win the game.
15:13Playoff football is different.
15:15It's do or die.
15:18If you win, you advance.
15:19And if you lose, you go home.
15:22CFO playoff set to kick off at Percival Molson Stadium in Montreal.
15:26And what a matchup we have on our hands to get things going.
15:29I feel ready.
15:29I feel confident.
15:31I feel prepared.
15:32I want to win.
15:39You know where we're going?
15:40Up the stairs, I guess.
15:42This is the most important game that they've played so far, so I'm nervous.
15:50My friend Damaris has come with me to cheer on Brady.
15:53Let's go, Big Techie.
15:56Let's go, Big Techie.
15:57Let's go, Big Techie.
15:58Winnipeg looking to forge a path and get back to a great cup at home.
16:02Let's go, Bombers!
16:05We are underway.
16:08Woo!
16:12Come on, defense!
16:16Playing on the road is tough, especially in the playoffs.
16:19The fans get louder.
16:21They want to see you lose.
16:23Down the field.
16:24Rambo got it!
16:25It's still set to three!
16:27Woo!
16:28Let him down!
16:32Touchdown, Ansel!
16:36It's okay.
16:37It's okay.
16:38They're just getting warmed up.
16:40Down the field.
16:42Ansel!
16:43Touchdown, Rambo!
16:46Things go from bad to even worse for the Bombers.
16:50The game is not going the way we want it to go.
16:53It's hard to watch.
16:55Now he's going to keep it and walk it in!
16:58Touchdown, Rambo!
17:0225-6 at the half.
17:08Oh!
17:09Ah!
17:18To start the second half, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are down 19 in Montreal.
17:24The first half of this game hasn't gone the way that we expected it to.
17:29We're getting whooped.
17:30And the Bombers offense will drop back out onto the field.
17:33In that second half, the message is everyone better go out there and play the best half of their lives.
17:39No more room for error for Winnipeg in this one.
17:42We have to find a way to figure ourselves out of this hole and fight till the end.
17:46It just quickly manifests a touchdown.
17:48Ready?
17:48I've seen Winnipeg turn it around.
17:50And did you do it?
17:53I'm hopeful that they'll come out and make a run for it.
17:56This will be a big boost to the Bombers' host.
18:00Pushing over to the end zone.
18:02It's touchdown, Winnipeg!
18:05Woo!
18:06Welcome back, boys!
18:10What a one to the far side of the field.
18:13Dropped it in there!
18:14Let's go! Go! Go! Go! Go!
18:16He's got the men down to the five and out of the end zone!
18:19And bang, bang, we've got a game!
18:21Let's go, Bombers!
18:24I couldn't be more proud of the guys.
18:26Trying to scratch and claw and find a way to win.
18:29Go, Brady, go!
18:33Brady's gonna take it down to the 20.
18:35Down to the 10, and he's stuck just short of the five.
18:38Woo!
18:40The Winnipeg Blue Bombers responding like a host on five.
18:44Here's the winner here.
18:45Straight up the ball, pushing it in, and he's there!
18:50Touchdown Bombers!
18:51And in just six minutes, they've eliminated a 19-point deficit
18:56and have the lead on the road in the East semi-final.
19:00This is remarkable!
19:02Unbelievable!
19:03We're back, baby!
19:05We're playing Bomber football.
19:07We are dominating.
19:09Montreal looking for a response.
19:12He'll give it to Scott.
19:13He's kicked out to the five, and he's got it!
19:19Anybody's ball game at this point.
19:22Back in the belly of Brady.
19:24Go!
19:24He pushes it ahead, his best run of the game.
19:27Woo!
19:29Back to Brady this time.
19:30Go, go, Brady.
19:31Ball pops out!
19:37Montreal kicks it away on the football, vibrating!
19:44And it's to the end!
19:46No!
19:47No!
19:48No!
19:50No!
19:50Touchdown, Montreal!
19:55That was it with the final dagger!
19:58Montreal, 42.
20:01Winnipeg, 33.
20:03Your final.
20:07He's pinned.
20:08Brady's pinned.
20:11I know how devastated Brady is right now.
20:14In that split moment, the season is done, right?
20:17It's hard to see.
20:21The Grey Cup will be in Winnipeg, but the Bombers won't be there.
20:31We got the best fans in the league, and we let them down.
20:39You'd like to think that, like, you saw that faith, you saw that belief in one another.
20:44We came out swinging that whole second half.
20:53Knowing that your season is just coming to an end like that, it's heartbreaking.
21:00You're in disbelief.
21:01Like, how did this even happen?
21:05It's real.
21:10We're supposed to, like, breakups at home.
21:12Like, we just, like, blew it.
21:13I know, wait.
21:14Well, don't think about that right now, babe.
21:17Don't think about that right now.
21:20No, don't, don't, don't, don't.
21:23What are you going to do next year, like?
21:31I don't even know what to do, man.
21:35Next time on Must Love Dogs.
21:38Wouldn't you miss this if you had to leave?
21:41I want to stay here.
21:42My contract's up as a Winnipeg Blue Bomber.
21:44I don't know who I'm playing for next year,
21:46which is scary.
21:47Come here, sweetheart.
21:48Are those ones hiding, babe?
21:49Yeah.
21:51We can't get to them.
21:52It's going to be almost a minus 30 out there today.
21:54That's the temperature where dogs literally freeze to death.
21:58Not one thing to storm…
22:04I want to stay home.
22:04See you now what I know.
22:05We'll be right back, though.
22:06Obviously, let's go.
22:06They geht afterwards…
