00:35The win was called fairly quickly when One Nation candidate David Farley
00:40shot to a majority of the primary vote within hours of the polling booth's closing on Saturday May 9th, 2026.
00:48A dozen candidates were in the running for the seat, which had been held by the Coalition since 1949.
00:55and was most recently held by former Liberal Party leader Susan Lay.
01:00Lay had secured more than 43% of the first preference votes in the 2025 federal election.
