00:06okay so got some heat into the studio for some new upgrades so obviously beside me we have the
00:11new i was gonna say pro display xdr this is the studio display xdr replacing the pro display xdr
00:18so it's gone slightly like down in size from 32 inches to 27 it's technically like their flagship
00:24monitor it now is 120 hertz it's got like nano texture gets up to 2000 brightness that's peak
00:30hdr and it has that thousand dollar stand that is now built into the back you can't remove it so

00:36is super dope sweet display so that is upgrade number one and over here we have another expensive
00:41upgrade this is the new m5 max macbook pro this thing is like fully loaded up so it has 128
00:47gigs of ram
00:48it's got the 18 core cpu 40 core gpu eight terabytes of storage this thing is like literally the most
00:54expensive thing that you can get and that is the new upgrade for this but you can see from the
00:58title
00:58we have something that is so essential to this setup when you are spending this kind of money you want
01:03something that obviously works within your workflow i will say with apple's monitor they give you such
01:11limited options on the ports you only have like the four two are thunderbolt five and the other two are
01:18just usbc and that is what you get for like three thousand dollars to me that is unacceptable i know
01:23apple wants to keep it clean and minimal that is where these two guys kind of fall into play
01:28perfectly to maximize your setup so these are from anchor they are the anchor prime docking stations
01:33so two different options depending on whether you need say like multiple displays for your workflow or
01:38if you want to prioritize ultra fast file transfer speeds anchor has you covered so let's put this one
01:43off to the side for a second and take a look at this one first so to pair with say
01:48that brand new
01:49macbook pro this is the one that you're gonna probably want just because it has thunderbolt
01:54five this is actually the world's first thunderbolt five docking station with built-in power so it's
01:59super sleek and one thing that i noticed that even during the unboxing we're talking about like apple
02:03products this seems like it was built by apple like something as simple as like the packaging
02:08even like those pull tabs very apple-esque everything is nice and sleek and this is what you get
02:14outside of the box when it is fully unpacked this literally looks like a little mac mini inside of
02:20your hands it's got like the same aluminum it feels like very premium so check that out what you get

02:25this is some of the io obviously you can see up front you've got the power button you've got a
02:29headphone jack for example this $3,500 guy behind me does not even have that option which is great
02:35you've got two usbc ports like these are just 10 gigabits so great for just charging smaller devices
02:40say you want to quickly charge up your iphone just very accessible easy at the front classic
02:45usba and on the back this is where the heat comes in so right there in the middle that's where
02:50you
02:50have the two thunderbolt five ports these are the ones that you're going to look to connect to other
02:55monitors you can get all the way up to an 8k monitor which is absolutely nuts or just insane
03:00transfer speed so thunderbolt five supports up to 120 gigs per second obviously you need like a
03:06corresponding ssd but that is three times faster than thunderbolt four and if you are like in pro
03:12workflows if you are working with like you know massive file sizes i won't say like the stuff that
03:17we're doing is like too crazy but for example this video might be like 100 gigs in literal seconds you
03:22can get all the files transferred over to your computer super clean super easy time is money you don't
03:28want to wait like you know two three minutes for files to transfer just get it done nice and quick
03:32you can
03:33see the rest of the ports obviously connecting to say like your computer you've got other 10 gigabit
03:37like usba classic ethernet you've got hdmi 2.1 as well as a display port and what i really love

03:44talking about like creative work once again offloading the camera footage you've got a standard sd card slot
03:49and even a micro sd card slot for stuff like gopro footage or any other action camera but that is

03:56port selection super cool and like it has like some nice heft to it which makes it feel like premium
04:02there's no weird like wiggle to it it is a very solid unit and what i really love it's almost
04:07like it was made for this it kind of slots perfectly underneath the new studio display it looks like
04:15they belong together like this looks like it could be like an apple ad it looks like very clean and

04:21with this like articulating like up and down it won't get hit it won't get impacted and then it's just
04:26the ease of use to get to all your ports you can see now when it's fully turned on you've
04:30got this
04:30nice little indicator light which is blue which funnily enough matches the new mac wallpapers which
04:35is nice so essentially what we have right now from the laptop to the dock is the first like upstream
04:39thunderbolt 5 port and then the other two one goes to the obviously studio display and then we have
04:45the other one free so technically you can connect those to like i mentioned 8k monitors right now this
04:51is just like a 5k 120 hertz but you can see how clean how minimal this is it doesn't add
04:56like too
04:57much bulk and then now you have access to all your other ports if you want what i really love
05:02so you
05:02don't have to reach around the back the sd card slot like most docks have like sd card slots like
05:08weirdly placed like at the back so you need to kind of like jank in from the back once you're
05:12done with
05:12like the setup here you can then access your other ones with that ease without having to reach in the
05:18back
05:18and then your cable management always stays like nice and clean so as an example my little sd card
05:23here and without even looking first try we got it in the hole wish i could say that was the
05:30case all
05:30the time but once again super super easy and as an example if i want to close this make this
05:37just like
05:37my main display no distractions and i want to connect all my peripherals for example i've got this new
05:41little mechanical keyboard that i want to use and then when it's plugged in i've got the nice little rgb
05:46lighting on the back and to maximize some of those transfer speeds technically if you want i could go
05:52from the back like i said but just for the ease of use i've just got my like little ssd
05:56just into the
05:57front you've got this full mobile workstation look how useful this dock is and that cable management
06:02is so clean this would just be such a mess if it were like otherwise and plugged into like say
06:08the
06:08sides of your computer which you never want and then when you want to just literally get up and go
06:13you can just unplug this everything turns off you can leave with your laptop you can go about your
06:17day and then when you want to use these say like extra peripherals when you're back into like work
06:22mode you just hop back in and you're just literally plugging in with one simple cable and what's nice
06:27because it has up to 140 watts of like power output it is now juicing up my macbook pro without
06:33any
06:33issues like i think this tops up at like 96 or something so it can just charge at its full
06:38speed
06:39and once again when you're done with it when you unplug it it is fully juiced up ready to go

06:43you don't need to worry about charging it separately so once again clean minimal easy i can't say it
06:49enough it literally looks like an apple product so that is dock number one okay so next off is the
06:55anchor prime dl 7400 docking station this is an alternative for a multi-display setup and i have this
07:01actually paired with the new macbook neo which is insane value but this also works say if you've got a
07:07base
07:08macbook pro if you've got macbook air but you really want to have a triple monitor or a three
07:13monitor display setup so this one can support up to three displays which is crazy you can see the
07:19design it's a bit like sleeker it's a bit like lower in terms of like profile so this honestly looks

07:24a little like clock that sits on the side of like your table once again the build quality doesn't
07:29suffer it still has that same like aluminum look super super premium you can see up front this area will
07:34actually have a display which you'll see once i plug it in you've got the three usbc ports so like
07:38two 10 gigabit and one five you've got the sd card slot super vital up front obviously headphone jack
07:44and on the back is where the rest of the magic is so you know ethernet you've got the usba
07:49ports you
07:49can even see this one is made for like peripherals you've got displayport hdmi 2.1 you've got two of
07:54those and lastly to your computer and the power supply and you also have this little tactile knob on the
08:00side which you can click nice and satisfying and that goes through all the settings so as an example
08:05i'm going to set this one up and you can now see that i've got this set up with a
08:08non-apple display
08:09so for example if you already own a monitor beforehand i have this older lg one here and you
08:14can see how the dock slots into place right at the base of the monitor still looks pretty good and
08:19just
08:20like that we have it set up and i joked around that this could serve or looks like a clock
08:24it also
08:25does that which syncs with your macbook which is cool and when you think about it the macbook neo doesn't
08:30even have like a thunderbolt cable it's just like a usbc cable it does need to be plugged into like
08:34the first slot because the second one is just like absolutely terrible but typically you need
08:39like an extra dongle to connect this to a monitor don't even bother that let the anchor docking station
08:45do all that for you and then from there you can still technically run three different monitors
08:49because if you connect this normally to say like a display you can only do one now you can do
08:54one 8k
08:55and then the other two say like 4k so you could theoretically have like a triple monitor setup
09:00running off of a 599 macbook neo which is absolutely wild super super cool that keeps
09:09it relatively like in budget and the thing that is doing all the work is the anchor docking station
09:13which is super cool and then from there that tactile switch you can see all the different settings all
09:17the different modes that you can kind of scroll through and then from there you have access to all
09:21your peripherals the options for your setups are pretty much up to you so what's nice about this
09:25you don't have to have like the latest and greatest mac like not everyone will upgrade to the m5 max
09:31you know macbook pro every single year if you have an older device if you've got something more budget
09:35like i hear you it is hard or expensive to buy new products all the time if you've got something
09:40older kicking around the compatibility list for this is a lot larger and it gives you that versatility to
09:46have that triple monitor setup and you don't have to have like the best monitors if you just want
09:50something you know off to the side to watch content you just want to be watching like sports youtube
09:54whatever on another display you can have that option with something like this with not the best
10:00of the best hardware which i think is really great in terms of overall like power output you have 160
10:05watts each of the ports in the front are up to 100 and say my laptop plugged into the back
10:10that can get
10:11up to 140 watts once again that is overkill for the macbook neo which can't even handle that kind of
10:17power so it'll just juice it up like at its fastest capability and if you want you can actually
10:22download the anchor app on your phone and if you want to geek out about data you can see all
10:26of that
10:26which is really cool but overall two really cool docks obviously very different use cases for both
10:33some setups require multiple displays and seamless integrations and i think that's where the anchor
10:37prime dl 7400 is great but if you want to prioritize maximum transfer speeds then naturally the tb5
10:44docking station is a better choice with the support for thunderbolt 5 and i'll of course leave links
