00:06All right, so just come from Samsung Galaxy Unpacked. I can show you guys this, which I've
00:09been using for a while. We're in New York right now. And actually the nice thing is I'm here on
00:13two different projects. So obviously, to do some Samsung stuff, to review this. I'm also doing a
00:18bit of a commercial shoot with Monogram. They're the company that I've worked with to appliances.
00:21I'm actually mic'd up right now. We somehow have a permit at Bryant Park. What's nice about this
00:26phone? The big change around the Fold 7 is how thin it is. I'm going to try to like low
00:30-key keep it in
00:31my pocket during the shoot to show you how low profile it is. Maybe someone will yell at me,
00:36but I got to get into wardrobe. One sec. Can you see this? Let's find out.
00:57That's a wrap. Had it in there the whole time. No one said shit. So that is a wrap. Just
01:05finished
01:05off like you guys saw on the High Line. Decided to walk through the vessel. Really long days on set,
01:10like 15-ish hours, but definitely really rewarding. Honestly, you're surprised. No one said anything on
01:15set about having the device in my pocket. That little bulge wasn't really apparent. Because this
01:20is so much thinner. So this is 26% thinner than the previous Fold 6. This is 8.9 millimeters
01:27when
01:27it's fully shut. That's pretty much like a candy bar style phone. As an example, it's not that much
01:31thicker than my iPhone, which I'm switching from, or even say the S25 Ultra, which is their flagship.
01:36It's even lighter at 216 grams versus 239 from before. So even when that's in the pocket,
01:41you don't notice it as much, but it has been a very, very long day. We'll take some sunset photos,
01:46do some more testing. Maybe we'll leave Manhattan and stick to Brooklyn, maybe. But yeah, cool behind
01:53the scenes of some of the stuff that I get to do. Really happy that those projects ended up lining
01:57up
01:57together. And catch you guys for day two in New York. So last night was a light one. We had
02:06Jaden Smith and Willow. Those are like Will Smith's kids performed at Unpacked the party last night.
02:12I'm not the biggest fan or not too familiar with the music, I should say, but it was okay.
02:16I want to show you guys my room quickly. I feel like it is very iconic New York. So you
02:22can see,
02:22I even have like a guitar. We have all those like windows, the concrete, the bed, pretty cool. I did
02:28forget to charge the Fold 7 last night, but we are sitting at 54% and you can see the
02:36weather in
02:36Brooklyn is at 24 degrees. And you can probably even hear from the windows, the police sirens going off.
02:41Let's see if we can spot them. Oh, literally right there. Ambulance going through. Anyways,
02:48I would say that this is the first Samsung folding phone that you can actually use when it's folded
02:52shut. So in addition to it being a lot thinner, the front cover screen has actually got a bit of
02:57a redesign. So it has a different aspect ratio. Before this used to be quite a bit thinner. It is
03:02now 6.5 inches and you can use it more like a candy bar style phone. So typically in the
03:07morning,
03:08say you check the weather, like I said, in Brooklyn, you can see that you're kind of scrolling through,
03:12you would never open up this phone to use it to do, I would say day to day tasks. So
03:17for example,
03:18in the morning, I also collect my Pokemon cards, my daily rip, you would never open this up and use
03:23it like this for this particular case. Obviously the app here that I get a good card. No, this app
03:29doesn't support full screen. But what I'm trying to say is for your day to day stuff, when you're kind
03:34of using the phone, just for your regular apps, when you're browsing, you'd never use it unfolded,
03:39even for taking photos, which once again, you can see a bit of my room, a lot of windows, a
03:43lot of
03:44glare, but I will take a quick photo ultra wide, you're going to use it most of the time when
03:48it's
03:48folded shut. And it's way more usable. Now it's finally in line with other foldables that we've got
03:52from Oppo or Honor, which you can't really even get in North America. So you've ordered one through
03:57eBay through some sort of reseller. But this design change is super welcome. I would say it's the best one
04:02that you can get in the North American market right now. It's a welcome update for the design.
04:06The main time you're using the large display on the inside. So this is eight inches is for media
04:12consumption. So this really replaces having two separate devices. So instead of carrying say a
04:17phone and a tablet, this is really that time to use that two in one. So once again, I was
04:22watching
04:23club world cup highlights or when you're watching movies, when you're watching content, this is where
04:27the larger screen truly shines. The one thing I am confused with, unfortunately, there is no S pen
04:33support. And typically for tablets, a lot of artists like to use a larger display. That's a real big
04:39benefit, even though it's too thin to actually stick an S pen anywhere in there. The fact that you can't
04:44even get one separately. I know that Samsung has those little hybrid cases where you stick the S pen
04:48somewhere on a case and it lives just to be able to use that as an option for me is
04:53a really big missed
04:55opportunity. I feel like a large portion, especially Samsung people still love the S pen. And the fact
05:00that you can't use it with this device and you can only use it with the S 25 ultra, that's
05:06a bit of
05:06a mischance. And one other thing, as I've used the device more, especially last night when I was
05:10kind of testing this out. So watch this, I'm going to drop this down and the phone is on the
05:17table
05:17because the device is so thin and the camera sensors are so large, you have this really, really bad wiggle
05:24or wobble to it, which you either have to use a case, Samsung makes some great ones. But if you
05:29are using the phone naked, but for the rest of my day to day performance, I've been using it really
05:36heavily here in New York, it's been great to use. So it's rocking the Snapdragon eight elite, depending
05:40on which model you get, that will differ in the amount of RAM that you get. The key performance thing
05:45for me though, has always been battery life within phones like the S 25 edge, you tend to sacrifice
05:50battery for, I guess, thinness. This still has a 4,400 milliamp hour battery. So the same as the
05:56fold six, even though it's gotten thinner, unfortunately no silicon carbon battery, but
06:00without charging it last night, like I said, still have exactly 50% to use. So before I do fly
06:06home
06:07later today, I probably will get the entire day's usage. You're looking at a day, day and a half. And
06:12for
06:12a phone this thin, that's pretty great. The next big upgrade here is the camera just for the main one.
06:16So think of this as having the same 200 megapixel sensor as the S 25 ultra so flagship level
06:22performance. However, it's been slightly redesigned because the phone is so thin,
06:26they've redesigned the module so it fits into the phone. Unfortunately, it doesn't apply to the
06:32telephoto or the ultra wide, those are still 12 and 10 megapixels. And I'm not too sure if that was
06:37a design issue, maybe the phone is so thin that they couldn't fit those sensors, and maybe a costing
06:42thing where they'd have to redesign them to fit into this body. Some of the sample shots here,
06:46I had a ton of fun taking all different sorts of shots. Some of the New York architecture here has
06:51been great. The photos came out good. You could definitely tell the telephoto and the ultra wide
06:56weren't as good as say the S 25 ultra, you still have to manually switch to the 200 megapixel mode,
07:01there is a little toggle that you can select so it defaults that but then you lose things like the
07:06ultra wide camera and then you just have to x out of it. So most of the time you'll be
07:10taking photos
07:11with the 12 megapixel camera. I'll let you guys be the judge but typical Samsung coloring, a bit
07:15saturated in my opinion, some of them not as sharp as I'd like. But as long as you're sticking to
07:19the
07:19main sensor, which once again, most people tend to, you should be fine. The last thing that you kind
07:24of have to mention because they talk about it so much every features crammed in AI wise, all the
07:28features we've seen on the S 25 ultra are in this they've been improved. Have I used any of them?
07:34Maybe once or twice. I use them more at the demos at the unpacked area. Obviously they were kind of
07:39showcasing them. I made Austin Evans into a cartoon. Are you going to do that every single day?
07:44Definitely not. But I will give huge props to Samsung for their AI algorithms around image
07:49generation, the best on the market, like compared to say my iPhone compared to every other brand that
07:54I've used. If you want to remove people from a certain photo, if you want to crop a couple of
07:59things
07:59out for whatever reason, Samsung does it the best. I know it's the most cliched one, but it actually
08:04works like really, really well. But yeah, that's kind of been my day to day performance with it.
08:07I've got to check out, out of my hotel room now. So I'm going to use it a bit more
08:10before
08:11my flight home. I'm going to set Pokemon pole though. Can I pull something on camera?
08:18Trash pole. Catch you guys in there. And I know from my first video on this, the unboxing,
08:23one of the big questions was around the front facing camera. So you still have two, this one on the
08:26front cover display, 10 megapixels, but on the inside it's actually switched. This is also 10 megapixels,
08:32but a lot of people were complaining that it's now no longer the under display camera. You see the
08:37cutout, the performance is better because you don't get any of that screen bleed. But in reality,
08:42unless you are my parents, when are you using that little front camera? You guys can see yourselves
08:47like in that camera there. When would you ever use that? Most of the time you want to take a
08:53selfie
08:53actually with the front or I guess the back using the front method. There's a little selfie button and it
09:02is one of the use cases for that. So now you've got the front camera there. So I can now
09:07take selfies.
09:08For example, I'll snap a couple, you just have to have large hands to hold it. And you're utilizing
09:12the cameras on the back of the phone, which are obviously way better than any front facing camera.
09:17So that's for selfies. Another big thing I noticed taking footage here was the fact that this now
09:21shoots in a log. It also has 10 bit HDR. So more color depth, more information. And what I actually
09:27really like say compared to an iPhone, you can actually grade the footage right within the phone
09:32and you can see that difference. But as I wrap up time in Brooklyn, got to catch classic delayed Air
09:36Canada flight. This is the best Samsung full device, or I guess changes we've seen to it in the longest
09:42time. With that new armor flex hinge, it makes the mechanism way better. It actually even impacts how
09:47little you see the crease in the middle, which is really nice. This is the first Samsung phone shipping
09:52with Android 16 One UI 8. If you are a fan of folding phones, there has never been a better
09:57time to grab a new device. I just find it a shame. It should have had S Pen support. I
10:02know so many
10:02people that use folding devices that like to scribble that like to mark down notes. I get that it's super
10:07thin and it won't fit, but just, you know, have it stuck to a case somewhere. If you want that
10:11option,
10:11I wish the two cameras would have been improved. I get the 200 megapixel sensor, just that telephoto and the
10:17ultra wide, but I am really happy with the design change. It is so much thinner, so much more
10:21pocketable. And like I said, the best upgrade design wise coming to a folding Samsung device.
10:27And we thought we would end it blue wall, blue phone. I think this is even like, it's like a
10:33blue car.
10:35And the last thing that you need to consider is price. So it's 2000 US, 2500 Canadian. It's a pricey
10:41phone and there are still other options out there, but as that car leaves, I think we got to leave.
10:46If you want to switch over to it, let me know. Catch you in the next one. Peace.
