00:08so this is the brand new samsung galaxy s26 ultra i've had some brief hands-on time with it before
00:14but at the current launch event of it it looks very similar to the s25 ultra some slight differences
00:20i figured this is the best place to show you but obviously this is the new signature colorway in
00:25cobalt violet three different color options as well you can see the rest of them there we have
00:29white black as well as the sky blue and from what i was told the online exclusives are pink and
00:35gold
00:35i'm going to try to track them down but if they're not settle with these screenshots and like i said
00:40the main color options are these four so this year the design is slightly rounder it's not as sharp it
00:45won't kind of stab you in your hand when you're holding it they've also switched back to aluminum
00:49a lot of that is around like thermal management there's a new vapor chamber built in this is also
00:54the thinnest and lightest ultra device they've made it's eight percent thinner it's 7.9 millimeters as
00:59reference and going around the device you can see the aluminum rails and this time the s pen which
01:03is color matched to the phone is right in the corner and you just have to remember if you put
01:08it in the opposite way it actually goes a little bit off center so you can't reverse that and depending
01:13on the color you get for example the cobalt violet has a gray pen with the color match tip and
01:17i believe
01:18there's also a white pen for two other color options but i'd say around the display one of the
01:22features that was leaked the most is the new privacy display so you can actually see how that works
01:26quickly here when i turn the screen off angle you can no longer see it i'll show you guys how
01:31that
01:31actually works in one of these little recording booths so how this essentially works it's hardware
01:35built into the display so when you turn it like off angle or you're viewing it from the side those
01:40specific pixels on that horizontal axis are dimmed so you can no longer see it and what's really nice
01:46is instead of say buying like a third-party screen protector or something like that you can have that
01:51work for specific apps so say when you're doing something like banking say you want to hide
01:56your social media even specific notifications you can all select that within the privacy display
02:01like setting and this is the first time this kind of technology is being implemented into a smartphone
02:06still making it one of the best displays so still 6.9 inches still quad hd plus it's dynamic amoled
02:112x
02:12it's an ltpo display so 0 to 120 hertz it also is the first display with a 10-bit color
02:17across the entire
02:18s26 range they also have a pro scaler so similar technology to what they have in their tvs so it
02:24enhances
02:24color enhances clarity so cool to see them bringing in other pieces of technology into the display to
02:30still make it i would say the best display right now on the market kind of hands down
02:41okay so to the next thing the camera i've actually come to my favorite place in san
02:45francisco for photos spencer battery golden gate bridge right there i've actually swapped back to
02:50uh the black one just because it kind of fits my case and i also have a screen protector on
02:53it so
02:54remember even with the privacy screen your screen is still prone to scratching still prone to cracks
03:00so keep it protected i'm just using this one from esr it's their armorite one also the esr case with
03:05the little camera guard it's got magsafe on the back just once again an expensive phone keep that all
03:11protected but i'm gonna take some sample photos uh right here it's funny i was actually looking through
03:16my archive i came here for the s10 plus launch and i stood literally right in that spot right there
03:23i'll
03:23bring up the photo risked it and maybe not the best hiking shoes but this is what the view is
03:28for
03:28it is super epic so let's take a couple photos first
03:40so the big thing here for the cameras it's pretty much the same sensor so still the 200 megapixel main
03:4550 megapixel ultra wide 50 megapixel telephoto and the other telephoto is 10 but the big difference
03:50here is the aperture is being improved honestly with regular daylight shooting anything with sunlight
03:56like it's super bright right now you won't be able to tell the difference between the s25 ultra photos
04:02are still really sharp really crispy obviously all the sample shots that we've taken here are good
04:07still great dynamic range i feel like samsung slightly does the saturation sometimes but that's
04:12once again personal preference but i will say for night photography that's where the big differences are
04:18so i when i had this you know the past couple nights have taken photos here in the city you
04:22really notice less grain the clarity is better if you're someone that likes to do astral photography
04:27it could help you out so for the 200 megapixel it is now f 1.4 it is 47 brighter
04:33and for the 50
04:34megapixel telephoto it is now f 2.9 37 brighter so once again in regular daylight shots it looks good
04:42one of the best you know that you can get on the pro side of things for video they have
04:46a new apv codec
04:47essentially a better codec for recording video it's lossless you can do up to 8k 30 they still
04:52have their log profile and one thing that i really like about samsung say versus an iphone all of that
04:58log footage you can grade within the phone so you can see the preview without having to put it in
05:02any
05:02post software you now have the option to apply lutz and there's also auto framing where it takes the
05:07like 8k sensor crops that down to like 4k so it always keeps the subject in the middle so pro
05:13features wise once again really good and for the 12 megapixel front facing a selfie camera it is
05:18still the 12 megapixel camera but it has a new ai isp so better lighting better colors more natural
05:24skin tones but yeah that is the camera and um here are the sample shots
05:36we got to get out of this spot before someone catches us
05:42good morning welcome
05:45okay so it's officially day two it is unpack day it is at the palace of fine arts but last
05:50night
05:50my voice if you can hear it got completely fried worst my voice has ever been this is going to
05:57be fun
05:57reviewing stuff is nice when i talk like this fraud fraud alert
06:13hey how's it going cheers oh yeah
06:30so that's uh yeah another unpacked i got the retail box here which is funny and if i saw you
06:36i am so
06:36sorry the voice is shot i know that i met a couple of you uh at the event and uh
06:40i just could not say
06:41hi properly but even though this is technically like the retail box which you see i have the phone
06:46already like inside this like one sec one-handed unboxing oh thankfully that wasn't in there because
06:52it was just uh in my pocket but yeah look at that in this view
07:01all right so to like performance it's a new flagship obviously it's been doing everything
07:06that i wanted to here in san francisco and back home like as lightning quick as it could so it
07:10has
07:11the snapdragon 8 elite gen 5 that's two for galaxy it's also the first time you can spec a device
07:16with
07:1616 gigs of ram just keep in mind you have to get the one terabyte option for that but uh
07:21the last
07:21what three years i haven't noticed a flagship that doesn't do everything that you want it's super quick
07:26responsive and snappy i will say maybe for some of the ai tasks maybe a bit better the npu is
07:32better
07:32there were some really fun demos we did the other day which are very like use case specific are you
07:38going to make a new sticker set every time maybe like if that's you that's cool but one really great
07:43feature with sf for ai it's like super good right now because it's really cloudy some shitty weather
07:46in sf it's photo assist but has prompts so for example i'm just going to take a quick photo here
07:53with a simple input prompt of say making it sunnier it really does it well in like quite
07:58quick and that works with like the color temperature you can see like some of the sun rays coming through
08:03it even changes like how light reflects i think that's really useful but uh you know within creative
08:07studio you can do other things you can make it cartoonish you can make an anime there are so
08:11many different options to choose from but i truly think for ai it's how you can use it uh you
08:16know
08:16for your benefit if you find something that works for you like if you're a big circle to search fan
08:20they now have a circle to search 3.0 if you use gemini a lot they've got something really useful
08:25called audio eraser so you know there's a lot of people around me there's a lot of like background
08:29noise if i want to drown that out they've had that last year but this year it now works with
08:34third
08:34party apps like youtube instagram like tick tock so once again finding something useful for ai it works
08:39better now it's just do you actually use it to uh end our time the last thing that we're going
08:45to be
08:45doing is a little boat tour through the harbor maybe go underneath like the bridge one of these
08:51boats get some sweet other shots
09:20okay so end of the cruise end of my
09:22voice i'm going to wrap up this video with i guess like my final thoughts so the last thing
09:27is the battery life so it hasn't got better hasn't got worse still 5000 milliamps but the big thing here
09:33is the charging speeds are a lot faster so right before the cruise i actually just juiced this up
09:37quickly in my hotel you can get like up to 75 in around 30 minutes so just a quick 10
09:43minute plug-in
09:43i'm juiced back up ready to go it also has 25 watts wireless charging so maybe that's one of my
09:48favorite
09:49like upgrade features honestly the luts were really good some of the footage looked so good like on
09:54camera the fact that you can change between the different luts the log footage was still great the
09:59fact that it has a new apb codec one of the things that i forgot to mention around the camera
10:02which we
10:03could have used like on the boat because it was like rocking a lot was a horizontal lock with a
10:08super
10:08steady video it essentially locks your horizon to make everything super stable so you don't need to
10:13have a gimbal but in the end is the upgrade worth it it's hard to justify if you're coming from
10:18like
10:19the s25 even like s24 ultra like i said performance across most devices have been very similar but uh
10:26same camera slightly better aperture so maybe noticeable more in night photography night video
10:31unless you really love the idea of privacy display being able to manage the different apps on what
10:37you want other people to see i don't think it's like a big deal breaker in the end small upgrade
10:42even the
10:42s pen which i was kind of hoping would have bluetooth back for say a remote shutter unfortunately
10:47still doesn't have that i put it in backwards there didn't even notice what i am happy about
10:51that they didn't increase the price which we've seen across a lot of other smartphones so still
10:56remains the same that's actually both like canadian i think you actually save 20 maybe due to the
11:01conversion with one of like the base models same us pricing theoretically you could get it with 16 gigs to
11:07future proof yourself but uh yeah that is s26 ultra review in san francisco voice is gone video is gone
11:15i pushed through this one for you guys let's break a mill peace
