00:00C.J. Carr and Archmanning are co-favorites for the Heisman, but they are so high by virtue of the
00:08esteem of their programs, not their past performances, lift it or leave it.
00:13It's a very interesting one because as you look at C.J. Carr, famous last name, obviously, is related to
00:28Lloyd Carr, grandfather, head coach at Michigan.
00:31He's now at Notre Dame with Marcus Freeman. Started the season last year, played pretty well in the second half
00:38of that Miami game, got better throughout the season.
00:41I think C.J. Carr improved a lot. You look at the other side of that, Archmanning.
00:49Huge expectations. And C.J. Carr had big expectations too, but huge expectations for Archmanning last year.
00:57And you look at these guys on the Heisman odds and the Heisman tracker, and they're way up there on
01:01FanDuel.
01:02And we'll get to this with Archmanning, plus 800. C.J. Carr, even higher than him, plus 750.
01:09Trinidad Chambliss, 1,100. Julian Sam, plus 12. Josh Hoover, plus 12, being your top five.
01:17All quarterbacks, notably. And all, well, three, four, and five all in the playoffs. One and two, not.
01:25But I think they're expected to be this year.
01:30Archmanning got better throughout the year.
01:33Probably not as much as C.J. Carr, in my opinion.
01:36And so, the big jump that people are going to expect this offseason, to where, how much better did they
01:42get?
01:43How is Sark going to be able to use Arch's legs?
01:48He started running a little more at the end of the year.
01:50Did they surround him with more talent?
01:52How good is that offensive line?
01:54The running game last year at Texas wasn't as good as they would have hoped.
01:58The receivers, are they going to be better?
02:00Were they able to amplify that and level that up as well?
02:04C.J. Carr, he's going to, they leveled up the receivers, I feel like.
02:08Brought in some big-time guys.
02:10Mylon Graham from Ohio State.
02:14A couple other guys that they sprinkled in there.
02:15Offensive line should be pretty good.
02:17He lost two first-round running backs.
02:18The first-round running backs.
02:21Really talented players.
02:24And Jordan Love maybe was the best offensive player last year in college football.
02:30And hell, he may win rookie of the year.
02:32And so, he's going to have to now deal with not having them.
02:36And so, I think you look at Trinidad Chambliss, how well he played last year.
02:41I would say that I'd put him in the mix.
02:44And probably above those guys.
02:46I think you look at Julian Sayan and how well he played last year.
02:53I think you'd probably say that he should be there.
02:56Heck, he was in New York for the Heisman.
03:01Josh Hoover, coming from TCU to Indiana.
03:06You ask yourself this question.
03:09What's the jump that he's going to be able to make?
03:11How much will Kurt Signetti in that offense?
03:14And, you know, having guys like Becker out there playing wide out now.
03:18Even though they did lose two.
03:19Surratt and Omar Cooper Jr., very good players.
03:22Elijah Surratt, obviously big-time dude.
03:25Falling over from, I believe, coming over from JMU.
03:28Omar Cooper Jr., Indiana guy.
03:30Really talented player.
03:31First-round wide receiver.
03:32So, you lost a first and, I believe, a fourth-round wide out.
03:35So, I think there's a lot of confidence in Kurt Signetti that he can build this
03:38plane while it's flying in the air because that's what he's always kind of
03:41done.
03:42But there is going to be a learning curve.
03:44You've got to learn a new offensive for Josh Hoover, and you've got to get
03:48familiar with these receivers.
03:50Kurt Signetti's proven the last two years, we've had two new quarterbacks.
03:54Each year, they've both been really good with Curtis Roark and then,
03:59obviously, Fernando Mendoza last year.
04:02Can they continue to do that again?
04:03And can they build out the receivers to be there?
04:06And I talked about Julian saying, you know, so he obviously lost the fourth
04:10overall pick in Cardinal Tate, but he does still have a guy that's probably going to
04:14be climbing the Heisman Trophy odds at some point, Jeremiah Smith.
04:19He's got him.
04:21Office of Lions back.
04:23Running backs are back.
04:24Brought in Chris Henry.
04:26Brought in some other wide receivers.
04:29Parker.
04:30McEwen.
04:31Some slot guys that can run.
04:34You've got Brandon Ennis coming back.
04:37Can Chris Henry be that other guy on the outside?
04:39Can Brock Boyd be that other guy on the outside?
04:42Joaquin Guilford be that other guy, potentially, on the outside?
04:45And so those guys have got to take a step.
04:47The question for Julian is, can he level up?
04:49Can he run at all?
04:50Can he use those legs in a positive way?
04:53So that's another piece for him that he's got to figure out and he's got to get going.
