00:01So, no luck getting any info out of your dad?
00:04Nah, I was hoping you still have some stuff first, but everything's gone.
00:08He has no idea what mum could be.
00:13Thanks.
00:19Is it him?
00:20Just let it ring.
00:25Look, mate, I'm warning you, you stupid...
00:28I'm never gonna escape this, are we?
00:35You know we belong together
00:39You and I forever and ever
00:43No matter where you are
00:47You're my guiding star
00:52Hold me in your arms
00:55Don't let me go
00:57I want to stay forever
01:01Closer each day
01:04Home and away
01:08We've been here for one day. One day.
01:12How the hell did he find us so fast?
01:14Hey look, just because he's got your phone number doesn't mean he knows where we live.
01:17If he can find my number, he can find out where we are.
01:20Maybe if you change it again right now he won't get the chance.
01:22He'll find it again. How many times have we already changed it?
01:25We gotta leave before he finds us.
01:27Hey, hey, hey, slow down mate.
01:28Yeah, there's gotta be something we can do.
01:30What difference does it make?
01:31We're gonna have to leave when the truth comes out anyway.
01:34You know what? I don't think we're gonna have to do that this time mate.
01:37I mean they seem like really good people here.
01:39Yeah, well good people have turned on us before.
01:41And they will again.
01:42Look what happened in the last two towns we're in.
01:45This isn't gonna go away.
02:00It's either Carrie Hyde or Carrie Stevenson.
02:03No, I don't know. That's why I'm asking.
02:05No, don't put me on...
02:07Gee, how hard is it?
02:08All I wanna know is if she's got an account there.
02:10They can't just give that information out.
02:12Well why not? She's my mother.
02:13Hayley's right love, they don't know that.
02:15Yeah, and there are privacy laws.
02:16Yeah, I'm still here.
02:18Yeah, you know what? Don't bother.
02:21Oi, boofhead, it's not their fault.
02:23Yeah, I know. It's just so hard.
02:24I'm not getting anywhere and Dad's not being any help at all.
02:27What about that email you sent yesterday?
02:29Maybe someone's replied.
02:30I checked it, there's nothing.
02:32I don't reckon anyone's gonna get back to us either.
02:34Come on, don't give up hope.
02:36Why not Hayley?
02:37All I'm doing is hitting brick walls.
02:38It's a waste of time.
02:40I should just leave the pass where it belongs.
02:48Looking for this?
02:50Thanks.
02:53I've been thinking about what you said.
02:56About...
02:57Moving now before he finds us.
02:59Yeah.
03:00And I don't reckon we should.
03:03If we stay, if this gets out, it'll be like everywhere else.
03:06It doesn't mean we have to keep running.
03:09And Dad's right.
03:09I don't think we should give up on this place yet.
03:12There are some pretty cool people here and...
03:14And Dad and me here for you too.
03:16I know, mate.
03:18And I know this sucks.
03:20So, thanks.
03:23Look, you ready to go?
03:24Yeah.
03:25Hey, Dad, listen.
03:26I'm sorry about last night.
03:27I didn't mean to be such a whinger.
03:28No, don't worry about it, mate.
03:30Look, as far as I'm concerned, we're not going anywhere.
03:31Okay.
03:31We're just going to sit tight and see what happens, yeah?
03:34Good.
03:35Come on.
03:36Let's go.
03:41Hey, if anything weird happens, we'll call.
03:50So, you ready to turn on that famous Holden charm?
03:52Ah, it's always on.
04:11Are you okay?
04:13Yeah, sorry about before.
04:15It's okay.
04:17If I could just get some answers, some kind of clue about Mum.
04:19I don't know who she was, what she did.
04:23Yeah.
04:25I meant what I said, though, you know.
04:26You can't give up hope.
04:28Yeah, but seriously, Hayley, what are my chances of finding her?
04:32I don't know.
04:32It takes some people years.
04:34Great.
04:35That's just what I needed to hear.
04:40All I meant was you've only just started looking.
04:44And okay, it hasn't all been smooth sailing, but that doesn't mean you should give up.
04:47Yeah, I know.
04:47I won't.
04:48It's just, you know.
04:51Is that all it is?
04:53I really don't understand Dad.
04:55I mean, things were bad for him and Mum, I get that.
04:57But he just doesn't want to help.
05:00So what, you reckon he knows more than what he's saying?
05:03Yeah.
05:04But why would he hold back?
05:06I don't know.
05:08No, I think Irene's right.
05:10You digging around in all this is only gonna stir things up for him.
05:13I mean, your Mum ran out on him.
05:15See, how would you feel if that was you?
05:17I know if it was me, I wouldn't want to find her.
05:20Yeah, I guess.
05:23Usually, Mr Hyde would be here to show you around, but he's way on a conference, so I'm gonna have
05:27to do.
05:29What school did you say that you came from?
05:31Oh, it's just not on the map, you wouldn't have heard of that.
05:33Okay.
05:34Rick, thank you for joining us.
05:36This is Mr Holden.
05:38G'day, Rick.
05:38Our new PE teacher and his son Lucas.
05:40Just call me Luke.
05:41Sure, sure.
05:42Rick is in the same year as you, so I've asked him to show you the ropes.
05:45Cool, thanks.
05:46I'm just giving them the grand tour now, but if Lucas has any questions during the day, you'll be able
05:50to answer them.
05:51Yep, no worries.
05:52I guess I'll catch you later then.
05:56Luke.
05:59Yeah, see ya.
06:00Bye.
06:01Thanks mate, see you later.
06:04Bye.
06:06Um, I want to get to the canteen before class, so I'll catch up, okay?
06:12Yeah, she's not making this any easier.
06:17Hey, if you wanted an intro, the way I'd do is ask.
06:19Sorry?
06:20Lucas, you seem a bit...
06:21Oh, no, no, we've already met, he's my new neighbour.
06:24He seems fine.
06:52I swear I didn't break a man, it just came off in my hand.
06:57You okay?
06:58You okay?
06:58No.
06:59Yes, I'm fine.
07:00Come in.
07:01What's going on?
07:02Well, I was just on my way onto my boat to Blackston, and I thought you might want to come
07:06and check out the sights, have a look around.
07:08But, uh, you're obviously the only way to work.
07:11Yeah, uh, sounds great, but, uh, maybe some other time.
07:16Come on.
07:30Did you get a look at them?
07:34What's going on, mate?
07:45What are you all up to?
07:46I'm not giving up.
07:47Do you remember that website I found, um, I found the fire on, last week?
07:51Well, the one you couldn't open?
07:52Yeah, about this, it's Jonathan.
07:54Now, I thought I'd check out the software, and if I can get a hold of it, I might be
07:56able to crack the fire.
07:58Well, that doesn't sound like work you can do on an empty stomach.
08:00Well, you might be right there.
08:01Yeah, why don't I make us a little something to eat?
08:03You're amazing, you know that? I might have given up without you.
08:05Yeah, well, it's lucky I'm here then, isn't it?
08:09And you've got mail.
08:10Don't go anywhere, I haven't finished with you yet.
08:15Dear Kim, I saw the message you posted on the website asking about Kerry Stevens.
08:20I knew your mother very well.
08:21If you want to talk, call me on the number below.
08:23There's a lot to say after so many years.
08:26Tom Anderson.
08:27Yeah, well, that's fantastic.
08:29I can't believe it, this could be the break I'm looking for.
08:35Well, I guess that's just about everything.
08:37If you want to stop by Mr Hyde's office later, we can fill out your enrolment forms.
08:41No problem.
08:42And a photocopied map of the school, just in case.
08:46So, that just leaves the sports shed?
08:48I don't think you're going to like what you see.
08:50Well, now I definitely want to see it.
08:53Good mate, are you alright? You got everything?
08:54Oh, yeah, I'm cool. Just relax.
08:56Okay, see you mate.
08:57See you.
08:58Look, I notice the school doesn't have a footy tab.
09:06Oh, private and confidential.
09:09Bit too old to be keeping a diary, aren't you mate?
09:11Give it to me.
09:12Let's see boys.
09:14Today is my very first day at Summer Bay High.
09:17I hope I fit in with all the other girls.
09:22Get off, get off.
09:24Alright, alright, I was only a joke.
09:26I don't think you thought it was too funny, Tiny.
09:28Beat it.
09:30Good to see a bloke who knows how to look after himself.
09:34Do you want us to show you around now?
09:36Oh, no, actually, I've got to go meet Cassie, so I'm...
09:42Cheeks, mate.
09:45Oh, you weren't kidding about that shed, were you?
09:48Oh, excuse me.
09:52Hello?
09:54Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
09:55Slow down, mate, slow down.
09:56Just tell me what happened, alright?
10:00You really don't know who would have done this?
10:02Could have been kids.
10:04Well, I don't reckon it was kids driving that car, do you?
10:07Couldn't tell you.
10:08I didn't get a good look at them.
10:10Hey, are you okay?
10:11Oh, g'day Scotty, how you going, mate?
10:12Good, thanks.
10:13Oh, listen, mate, um, thanks for hanging around with Jack,
10:15but I reckon we might be able to handle it from you.
10:19Sure.
10:20We'll get going then.
10:22Thanks for that.
10:22No worries.
10:26It was him, wasn't it?
10:27Look, mate, you're going to have to make a report about this, Jack.
10:29No.
10:30I want the guys at the station to get to know me without getting dragged into all of this.
10:34Look, I don't think you've got much of a choice, mate.
10:36We can't just let it go.
10:37Yes, we can.
10:38You're going to go back to work, I'm going to start my shift.
10:41We'll worry about this later, okay?
10:44Okay.
10:48Is Jack all right?
10:49Look, he's fine, mate.
10:50He just doesn't want to report it, that's all.
10:52Why not?
10:52The cops are the ones who can actually do something about it.
10:55Well, who are you telling that?
10:55Because he doesn't want to hear it from me, is he?
10:58I'm sure Miss Fledger will be here soon.
11:00She's right here.
11:02How's everything at home?
11:02Oh, look, it's under control, thanks.
11:04Sorry I had to rush off on you like that.
11:05Oh, don't worry about it.
11:07Family's family.
11:08Uh, Lucas, why don't you wait here and we can fix up the paperwork in the office.
11:11See ya, see ya.
11:19Here you are, dear.
11:20Tell Mrs Clive that someone will be here soon to fix the printer in her office.
11:24Okay, thanks.
11:32You better not dawdle.
11:35Um, yeah.
11:36Okay.
11:49Yeah, and we're definitely talking about the same Tom Anderson.
11:51I'm gonna get a wriggle on her, I'm gonna be late.
11:53Yeah, no, that's okay.
11:54You go, we'll film to him later.
11:55Okay, good luck.
11:56Thanks.
11:56Yeah.
11:57Okay, thanks, bye.
12:00Good news or bad?
12:01You tell me.
12:02The number he gave me was for the Haven Bay Prison Farm.
12:05Well, he's in jail.
12:06Yeah, it looks that way.
12:07Do they say what he's there for?
12:08No, I guess I'll find out this over.
12:11What, are you gonna visit him?
12:13Yeah, well, if he knows something, I wanna know as soon as possible.
12:15Oh, no, no, Kim, he could be completely dodgy.
12:18Yeah, I've heard stories about people taking advantage in missing person cases.
12:21I mean, what does he want?
12:22I don't know.
12:23Well, I guess we'll find out when we get there.
12:25What, we?
12:26Yeah, well, I can't drive.
12:28Oh, Hayley, come on.
12:29I gotta see this guy.
12:30I can't just ignore him because he's a crim.
12:33Please.
12:36What sort of mongrel would love a brick through their window?
12:38They've only been here five minutes.
12:40Exactly.
12:40Those poor boys.
12:42Did you see anything or anyone?
12:44Nothing.
12:45Window smashed.
12:45Jack and I bolted outside.
12:47The car was virtually gone.
12:48That's it.
12:48Doesn't make any sense.
12:50Yeah, well, you know what else doesn't make any sense?
12:51The way Jack and Tony react.
12:53What do you mean?
12:54Well, they were pretty keen to get me out of there.
12:57Well, they're probably just embarrassed.
12:59No, it was more like they knew something but they were acting like they didn't.
13:02Oh, come on, mate.
13:03Why would they do that?
13:04Look, I've got no idea, alright?
13:06I'm just telling you what I saw.
13:07I reckon your mother's right.
13:09What you saw was probably just two blokes who had the wind knocked out of them.
13:12I don't think so.
13:19How does it feel looking next door to a murderer?
13:23I don't think so.
13:25I don't think so.
13:28I don't think so.
13:30I don't think so.
13:31So if the guy from next door was here when it happened, what are we going to say when
13:34people ask?
13:35Well, we always say much.
13:37Nothing.
13:40Anyway, listen, come on, you haven't told me about how your day went.
13:42Oh, yeah, it was alright.
13:44A few strange looks, heaps of questions, the usual.
13:47And what about that young bloke that Miss Fletcher introduced you to?
13:49Oh, Rick, yeah, he seems pretty cool.
13:52Have you spoken to Jack again since it happened?
13:54No, Matt, I didn't want to bother him at work.
13:56But look, he'll be alright.
13:58He might be right, you know.
14:00Hey, look, look.
14:02Come on, mate.
14:02Don't pack your bags too soon, alright?
14:05I reckon this town might be different.
14:11Okay.
14:12Have you got a minute?
14:13I think we need to talk.
14:26Are you sure this is a good idea?
14:28No, but we're here now.
14:30Yeah, well, that's a good reason.
14:34Kim.
14:36Yeah, you must be Tom.
14:38Tom Anderson.
14:39This is Hayley.
14:40Ah, Hayley.
14:42Ah, it's good to finally meet you.
14:44Yeah, you too.
14:45That leg doesn't look too good.
14:47No, I had an accident.
14:48Yeah?
14:49A lot of people around here have accidents too.
14:52Look, if you don't mind, I just want to find out what you know about my mother.
14:56You might not want to hear what I have to say.
14:58Well, I don't care what it is, I just want to know.
15:01So can you tell me?
15:03I first met her when she and your dad were married.
15:06They were both friends of mine.
15:09When the marriage started going downhill, she started turning to me more and more.
15:13She'd visit me at work and we'd talk.
15:16You were there sometimes.
15:18But I guess you're too young to remember that.
15:21Anyway, over time, we got closer and...
15:25And you had an affair.
15:26We were in love.
15:27You're the reason she ran out on us.
15:29No.
15:31No, we talked about getting away and starting again, but...
15:34Well, I never really got the feeling that Kerry was serious about it.
15:37Yeah, right, so where is she then?
15:39I don't know.
15:40One day she was just gone.
15:42No goodbye, no letter, nothing.
15:44Well, she just up and left.
15:46Why would she do that?
15:47I think maybe Barry found out about us and so she ran.
15:52Yeah, it broke my heart to tell you the truth.
15:56Actually, it's the reason why I'm in here.
16:06See, Jack had just come out of the academy.
16:08He was about three weeks into his new job in the city.
16:13You've got to understand this.
16:14This is huge.
16:15I mean, Jack had always wanted to be a copper, right?
16:18So anyway, one night, him and his partner got a call
16:20to a armed robbery at a bottle shop.
16:23So they responded and by the time they got there,
16:25the thieves had taken off in the car down the road
16:27and naturally Jack took off after them.
16:29And they were all going flat out
16:30until the thieves' car crashed pretty badly.
16:33And Jack and his partner got out to assist.
16:36That's when the driver shot Jack's partner.
16:39Oh.
16:40And it actually got worse
16:41because the driver then turned the gun on Jack.
16:44And he had no time and no choice, so he shot first.
16:47But when he took the balaclava off,
16:48he realised it was a teenage girl.
16:50He tried to revive her at the scene,
16:52but she died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
16:56But this article, it makes it sound like it was Jack's fault.
17:00Well, that's because the girl's father made everyone believe it was.
17:03I mean, the police investigation completely exonerated them,
17:06but the father couldn't handle it.
17:09And he's the guy that threw the brick this morning?
17:11Harry Chambers.
17:13He's been following us around ever since,
17:15making our life a misery.
17:17This is the third town we've moved to since it happened.
17:19He's convinced that Jack murdered his daughter.
17:24Everywhere we go, he finds us.
17:25That sounds awful.
17:27It is mainly for Jack, mainly, but...
17:30not even the local police know about it.
17:32I bet he's one of them.
17:33Surely they would understand.
17:35Maybe they would.
17:36But it's Jack's fault.
17:38And he doesn't want anyone to know about it.
17:40He finds it very hard to trust people now,
17:42as he's been let down so much.
17:44People are very ready to believe Harry Chambers' story.
17:47And it gets him down.
17:51So what can we do?
17:52Keep this to yourself.
17:54It really would be better if Jack didn't know about it.
17:57Jack didn't know about what?
18:06I wish it was different, but I didn't have a choice.
18:09Your father has explained everything.
18:11I know, but this article makes it sound really bad.
18:13Jack, you don't have to do this, we believe you.
18:16We're just sorry that you have to go through it.
18:20Even though I reckon that we should just get out while we can.
18:23Oh, I don't think you have to do that.
18:25Oh, that's right mate.
18:26Look, Beth and Scott have heard the story.
18:28They're not looking the lynchers.
18:29Maybe this town will be different.
18:31Oh, I don't think so.
18:33I've just been listening to this in my room.
18:36And we've been talking about the controversial cop Jack Holden
18:40coming to work in our own Summer Bay.
18:43Let us know your thoughts.
18:45Here we go again.
18:45Do you agree with Mrs McHowan?
18:47Harry Chambers just spoke to them on air.
18:49How do they do without a trigger happy enforcer cruising the streets?
18:52I'll be right back to take more of your calls.
18:55I put everything I had into looking for Kerry.
18:58Money, time.
18:59And it wasn't enough.
19:01It was never enough.
19:04I couldn't find her and then I started losing things, you know.
19:07My marriage, my career, my house.
19:12But nothing meant anything without her.
19:15I did whatever it took to keep up the search
19:17and that's when the cops got up with me.
19:20Yeah, well, because you were looking for my mum.
19:22And because I was embezzling money to do it.
19:26That's why I ended up here.
19:28It's been so long, I'd almost given up on her.
19:32Then I saw your email.
19:36I couldn't believe Kerry's own son would find me.
19:39I mean, last time I saw you,
19:43you were still in nappies.
19:46And now here you are all the way from Summer Bay.
19:49Kerry always said that
19:51she'd like to claim a little patch of that place for herself one day.
19:54What were you saying? She knew Summer Bay?
19:56Yeah, loved the place. Why?
19:58Well, they never mentioned it.
19:59It's a pretty big coincidence that he should get posted
20:01to the same place mum wanted to live one day.
20:04Sounds more like a miracle to me.
20:06I'm only telling you what I know.
20:08Have you got any proof?
20:09Yeah, you must have found some stuff of hers while you were looking.
20:12The police took everything I had when I was arrested
20:14and never got it back.
20:20It's the truth.
20:24I thought I was getting close a couple of times, but it always fell through.
20:28I started thinking maybe she'd changed her name, but I never got the chance to check it out before.
20:35Yeah, look, that's great and all, but why should I believe you?
20:39So far all I've heard is a good story and that's not enough.
20:44Well, maybe you'll believe this.
20:46Who are they?
20:48Well, the baby's you and the little fella's Jonathan.
20:52Your mum was never the same after he died.
20:55Well, who is Jonathan?
20:59Jonathan was your brother.
21:00I'm not the one.
21:02I'm not the one.
21:13It's suddenly clear.
21:17I will always lead you here.
21:21Hold me in your arms, don't let me go
21:26I want to stay forever
21:29Closer each day
21:32Home and away
21:38Forever
