00:15And now, Jimmy Kimmel!
00:22I love it.
00:25That's great. Thank you.
00:33Hi there. Hi, I'm Jimmy. I'm the host of the show.
00:37It's very kind. Thanks for watching at home.
00:40Thank you for joining us here in Hollywood.
00:43And I'm going to tell you something.
00:44You're here on a very special night, a night of celebration,
00:48not only here, all around the world.
00:5055 years ago today, on January 27, 1971,
00:55Don Julio and the Pillsbury Doughboy welcomed a child together,
00:59a baby.
01:00They named him Guillermo,
01:01and tonight we wish him a happy birthday.
01:04Thank you!
01:05Thank you!
01:07Thank you!
01:08Thank you!
01:09Thank you!
01:10Thank you!
01:10Feliz cumpleaños!
01:12Thank you, Jimmy!
01:12That means happy birthday.
01:14A little old fact about Guillermo.
01:15speaks no Spanish at all.
01:17Yeah, no, I do.
01:18Did you know you share a birthday with Mozart?
01:21No, I didn't, no.
01:21You did not.
01:22No.
01:22You share a birthday with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Edward Smith.
01:26Do you know who that is?
01:28No.
01:28Okay.
01:29He was the captain of the Titanic.
01:31Oh, wow.
01:32Oh, no.
01:32He went down with the ship.
01:33Would you go down with the ship?
01:35Uh, maybe.
01:36Maybe, yeah.
01:37No, no.
01:38I asked Guillermo to bring us some pictures from his life to celebrate, and he did.
01:42Here he is as a little boy, uh, in Mexico before he met Tequila.
01:46How old is it?
01:47Like, were you born in 1937?
01:49How old is that picture?
01:51Oh, no.
01:51Let's look at that picture again.
01:53I mean, this is really...
01:54Yeah, there you...
01:57That's an old picture, right?
01:58Yeah, I think I was seven or eight.
02:02No.
02:02No?
02:04No?
02:06That's seven or eight?
02:08Yeah.
02:09I think so.
02:10Yeah.
02:10You've seen children before, right?
02:12Yeah, I know.
02:13But maybe five?
02:14I don't know, Jimmy.
02:15Yeah.
02:15Yeah, I'm going to go with four or five.
02:16Yeah.
02:17All right.
02:17This is one from Little League, and, uh...
02:19Now, what's going on here?
02:21Are you playing or coaching third base?
02:23What's happening?
02:23No, I was...
02:23I was playing...
02:24I was playing, Jimmy.
02:26Back in the day, those were the uniforms.
02:28Yeah, see, here's Guillermo as a woman.
02:31You know...
02:31Oh, my God.
02:33Minus the facial hair.
02:34You're a beautiful lady, Guillermo.
02:36You really are.
02:37This one is from Christmas.
02:39Now, I thought you were Jewish.
02:41I'm surprised by this.
02:42No.
02:43How old are you when that little mustache came in?
02:45Uh, 14.
02:4614, huh.
02:47This is from either your high school yearbook or the Emmys last year.
02:50I'm not sure.
02:51This is...
02:52This was what Guillermo wears on Casual Fridays.
02:55Oh, my God.
02:56And now, as of this week, he is a full-fledged salsa magnate.
03:00Guillermo Sasa is flying off the show at Costco in the Northeast and soon nationwide.
03:09Happy birthday, Guillermo.
03:10Thank you, Jimmy.
03:11And you know what?
03:11Tonight, feel free to barely pay attention for the whole rest of the show, okay?
03:16All right.
03:16You got it.
03:17All right.
03:18Winter Storm Fern continues to wreak havoc on much of the United States.
03:23Hundreds of thousands of Americans are without power right now.
03:26Yesterday, more than 10,000 flights were canceled or delayed.
03:30American Airlines said this has been the most disruptive storm in their hundred-year history.
03:35And Spirit Airlines announced that for a limited time, they will provide free blankets to passengers
03:40who are seated on the wings of their plane.
03:43In Boston, they got almost two feet of snow, which resulted in this hostile standoff between
03:49man and plow.
03:52Hey!
03:53Car is stuck!
03:54Go around me, man!
03:57Car's stuck!
04:01You speak English!
04:05The car is stuck!
04:09Strats!
04:11What are you beeping for?
04:14Yo, what are you beeping for?
04:16The car's stuck, Dickie!
04:17The car's stuck!
04:19I'm just kidding, telling you, the car's f***ing stuck!
04:24Get the f*** out of here!
04:29I'm on his side.
04:30I really am.
04:31I'd like to introduce that guy to my aunt, Chippy.
04:33She hasn't been on a date in a while, right?
04:36This is good, too.
04:37We believe this is from Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love.
04:40It is similar to the last video, but this time from the point of view of the men who
04:44are plowing the snow.
04:46If your car look like this, just go ahead and f*** back in the house.
04:50Just go in the house.
04:52Ain't no need for you to be outside today.
04:58If I can't drive, you b***hs can't drive.
05:06Happy snow day, motherf***ers.
05:10You know, it's just what they say.
05:12If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
05:16Happy snow day, motherf***ers.
05:19Millions of students got to stay home from school today.
05:21They got a snow day.
05:22Some of them are getting a lot of snow days, which is great when you're a kid and not great
05:26when you have a kid.
05:27So we thought it might be fun to create some entertainment for the parents.
05:33And what I'm going to do is pretend to be a local news anchor.
05:36And what I would want you to do at home is show this video to your children when they
05:40wake up in the morning.
05:42This will be good.
05:43All right, bring in my news desk here.
05:44I have to get set up.
05:45All right, here we go.
05:51All the snow isn't a problem for everyone.
05:54Thousands of local children have been rooting for it, hoping for another day at home.
05:58But district officials are confirming now that students who do get snow days will be
06:03required to go to double school to make up for it.
06:07Double school goes from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. every day, including weekends, and well into
06:13the summer, which has now been canceled.
06:15There will be no summer this year on account of the snow.
06:19And in cafeteria news, the winter storm has interrupted all shipments of pizza.
06:23So get ready for raw potato week.
06:26Every kid gets a raw potato on a fork.
06:30I'm Fred Newsman, Channel 7 News.
06:38So we'll post that on social media and have fun with it.
06:42The White House right now is scrambling to clean up the mess they made in Minneapolis.
06:45Trump met last night in the Oval Office with Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and
06:50her top aide, Corey Lewandowski.
06:52They met for two hours, although Trump was asleep for about 90 minutes of it, but two
06:56hours.
06:57Noem and Lewandowski are widely rumored to be romantically entangled.
07:01Anonymous White House officials say their relationship is the worst kept secret in D.C., other than
07:07any secret Pete Hegseth tries to keep.
07:10Kristi Noem, a woman who has never met a crime scene she couldn't match her lipstick to, is on
07:15the hot seat right now.
07:16Many are calling for her resignation, but Trump today said he will not ask her to step
07:21down, which means she's done, right?
07:23I mean, she's like a puppy in a gravel pit when you say something like that.
07:27Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Greg Bovino, this clown is being sent to the bench for sure.
07:32After pulling out all the Gestapos in Minneapolis, he has been banished back to El Centro, which
07:37is a small town at the border of California where he's expected to retire.
07:42The Department of Homeland Security also suspended his access to his own social media accounts.
07:47You know how bad things have to be for Donald Trump to take your social media away?
07:53Trump was in the friendly confines of Fox News today trying to pretend that he's not
07:58pulling back in Minnesota.
07:59And for Bovino, this wasn't a demotion.
08:02I don't think it's a pullback.
08:03It's a little bit of a change.
08:05Everybody in this room that has a business, you know, you make little changes.
08:08You know, Bovino is very good, but he's a pretty out there kind of a guy.
08:12And in some cases, that's good.
08:13Maybe it wasn't good here.
08:15But you have to understand, when I watch some of the people that I've been watching over
08:18the last few weeks, these are paid insurrectionists.
08:21These are paid agitators.
08:22These people aren't normal for OG that, you know, they're incensed about anything.
08:28I believe he believes it.
08:29He can't imagine anyone ever doing anything without getting paid for it.
08:33It's paid.
08:34These are not paid agitators.
08:35These are concerned Americans.
08:37If they're paid agitators, by the way, prove it.
08:40You keep saying they're paid agitators.
08:42Prove it.
08:44You know who is a paid agitator?
08:46You are a paid.
08:47You literally sold a crypto coin that says fight, fight, fight on it.
08:56You're a paid agitator surrounded by a bunch of greasy little paid agitator tots, okay?
09:04Meanwhile, the first lady is not in a B-best mood right now.
09:08According to the writer Michael Wolfe, Melania is bigly upset that the murders in Minneapolis
09:12are overshadowing the release of the $75 million bribe, I mean, documentary that Amazon made
09:20for her.
09:21Alex Preddy was killed on Saturday, the same day they had the VIP screening of the movie
09:26at the White House.
09:27Now, while she's promoting her film, she has to answer questions about it.
09:31What is your message for America about unifying both sides?
09:37We need to unify.
09:38I'm calling for unity.
09:40Oh, good.
09:41Melania is calling for unity.
09:42Either that or she's ordering tea.
09:44It's hard to tell her.
09:46You need tea?
09:47We'll need tea.
09:49All right.
09:49Back to the movie.
09:50What did the president say to you after the screening, after he saw it for the first
09:54time?
09:54Was that the first time you saw it Saturday night?
09:57It was the first time that he saw a whole film, and he loved it.
10:02He said, a must watch.
10:06For him, it is a must watch.
10:08It's not for us, but for him, yes.
10:10My guess is he saw the first eight minutes and fell asleep in his popcorn bucket.
10:15And then what about Baron?
10:16Because I know Baron's in the film a lot.
10:19What did he say?
10:20What was his reaction?
10:21He is in the film, and he liked it, too.
10:25Okay, he liked it, too.
10:27Her son and her husband liked it.
10:29All the people in the movie are giving it rave reviews.
10:33That's enough for me.
10:34It is not, however, getting a positive response for some of the people who worked on the film.
10:39According to Rolling Stone, two-thirds of the New York crew asked to have their names
10:44removed from the credits.
10:46Two is a lot of thirds.
10:48Two is maybe, almost, possibly even more than half.
10:52But here's a guy who I am sure will be lined up for Melania this weekend.
10:56Greg Kelly from Newsmax.
10:58This is a disturbed person.
11:00A man is killed in the street, standing up for what he believes, trying to help a woman.
11:04And Greg Kelly dumps all over the guy and then actually blames Tim Walls for his death.
11:09He is telling people, like this poor soul, to go out there with this camera and confront these guys.
11:16That is inherently violent.
11:19It is dangerous.
11:20And I think it's a criminal act.
11:23And can I tell you something?
11:24Look at that.
11:24Take that full.
11:26In a weird way, that phone, I think, could be mistaken for a gun.
11:30I want to show you something else.
11:31Put that picture down.
11:32Just real quick, right?
11:34Put it away, if you don't mind, and take me full.
11:37I want to show you something.
11:43Does that look like a gun?
11:44I think it does a little bit.
11:45It's a phone.
11:47Oh my God, is that a phone?
11:50I thought it was an AR-15.
11:51I'm chuffed.
11:53Guys, Greg's been huffing toner cartridge again.
11:56I told you, keep that cabinet locked.
11:59Here I am.
11:59Oh my God, there's a guy over there.
12:00Stop!
12:02Doesn't that look like a gun?
12:03Seriously.
12:06It's just my silly phone.
12:09I can't change the screensaver.
12:11I didn't choose that one.
12:12It just popped up.
12:13I think it's like Black Lives Matter or something.
12:16I do not support, but I can't get rid of it.
12:18See you tomorrow.
12:19I knew he supported Black Lives Matter.
12:21I've known it all along, and now everyone knows it.
12:24Greg, do yourself a favor.
12:25Take your phone, hold it up like this, and call your psychiatrist with it, because it's crazy.
12:35If it seems like things are getting scarier by the day, it's because they are.
12:39Today, the United States officially withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement.
12:43We're the only country that pulled out.
12:45They're saying that in the near future, we might not be able to have the Winter Olympics
12:48in more than half the cities that are bidding to host them, because there won't be any snow there.
12:53And the doomsday clock, you know this doomsday clock?
12:56Every year they tell us how close humanity is to destroying the world.
13:00The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists announced today that we are closer to the end times than ever before.
13:05It is the determination of the Bulletin's Science and Security Board
13:09that humanity has not made sufficient progress on the existential risk that endanger us all.
13:16We thus move the clock forward.
13:18It is a hard truth, but this is our reality.
13:28It is now 85 seconds to midnight.
13:31This is the closest the world has ever been to midnight.
13:40Could somebody please get these people some Zoloft?
13:43Because five minutes with that group, I'd want the world to end.
13:47I would welcome it.
13:49I mean, my God, if we only have 85 seconds until midnight, let's have some fun.
13:54Bring in Ryan Seacrest to count it down.
13:57Bring in the desk, actually.
13:59I have one more idea for the kids.
14:04The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists today announced that the Doomsday Clock,
14:09a symbolic clock designed to warn the public about man-made threats to human existence,
14:13is now at 85 seconds to midnight,
14:16meaning that snow or otherwise,
14:18there is no longer any point to sending children to school.
14:22The future is black, and we're all going to die.
14:25Sports is next.
14:26We'll be back with Jacob Elordi, so stick around.
14:31We'll be back with Jacob Elordi, so stick around.
14:44We'll be back with Jacob Elordi, so stick around.
14:45We'll be back with Jacob Elordi, so stick around.
14:45Hi, and welcome back to Jacob Elordi, sitting in with the Cleetos.
14:49She is an Emmy winner with a new series on Audible called Big Age.
14:53Niecy Nash Betts is here.
14:54And then later, a six-time Grammy Award winner,
14:58and he's currently nominated for three more.
15:00This is his album, Foxes in the Snow,
15:02music from Jason Ispel and the 400 Unit.
15:05And you'll see Jason live on Saturday night
15:08at the Orpheum Theater right here in L.A.
15:11Tomorrow night, we will be joined by Nate Bargetsy
15:13and Joe Scarborough, so please join us for that.
15:16Our first guest tonight is a freshly minted Oscar nominee
15:19for his work as a creature in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.
15:24Next, you can see him play Heathcliff, the man, not the cat,
15:27opposite Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights.
15:29It opens the theaters February 13th.
15:31Please welcome Jacob Elordi.
15:48Thank you very much.
15:50It was very good to meet you.
15:51How's it going?
15:52Nice to meet you, man.
15:52I feel good.
15:53I feel good.
15:53This is your second time on the show,
15:55but the last time you were on the show,
15:56I was not on the show.
15:57Yeah, no, no, no.
15:58Julie Bowen.
15:59God bless.
15:59Julie Bowen was the guest host that night,
16:01and you guys seem to really, I don't know,
16:03there was chemistry there, it felt like to me.
16:05Yeah, she did get on her knees and give me a kiss.
16:07She got on her knees and get,
16:09I think we have video of that, in fact.
16:10Oh, I'm a nervous boy.
16:12What are you nervous about?
16:13What are you nervous about?
16:14Oh, goodness.
16:14I think everything, you, I'm such a huge fan of you.
16:17I actually had a crush on you when I was younger.
16:21Truly, truly.
16:26I'm going to say, yeah, yeah.
16:30I have to tell you, I feel a little bit competitive,
16:34I don't know, a little bit maybe left out in some ways.
16:37Yeah, well.
16:37Oh.
16:41Now I know.
16:43Now I'm bludgeoning.
16:46I think now you, me, and Julie are a polycule.
16:49Do you know what that is?
16:50That's new age, yeah.
16:51I learned that word yesterday, yeah.
16:52What the hell is a polycule?
16:54Well, I'll tell you what it is.
16:55Come on.
16:55It's when there are people who are dating, well,
16:59not dating or whatever they're doing,
17:01whatever we're doing, as a group.
17:03So, like, you know, if Fred is with Mary
17:06and then Mary is with Tom, the three of them are polycule.
17:10That's a polite way of saying a threesome.
17:12No, because it's separate.
17:13It's not all at the same time.
17:15Oh, the relationship is separate.
17:16Yes.
17:16It's like you and I have this sexual relationship now.
17:20You and Julie have that relationship.
17:22But it's never shared.
17:23And, no, it's never shared,
17:24although I am planning to call Julie
17:26to see if I can get it all together.
17:28Yeah, I'm happy to be a part of that.
17:32Hey, congratulations on the Oscar nomination.
17:35Oh, thank you.
17:39That's very exciting.
17:43And, really, genius on the part of Guillermo del Toro
17:48to see you and think, there's my Frankenstein's monster.
17:51I mean, that takes some real vision,
17:54because that's not how I would think of you.
17:56Yeah, I don't know.
17:56I'm not sure.
17:57I mean, it's kind of,
17:59I don't know if it's a compliment or not, you know.
18:00It is.
18:01It is.
18:01And you did a great job of it.
18:03Well, obviously, you got an Oscar nomination.
18:04Did you stay up to, like, to wait for the phone to ring,
18:07or did you watch it on TV?
18:09What did you do?
18:09No, no, I'm far too nervous in the everyday,
18:12so I made sure that no one told me that this was happening.
18:16So I went to bed, and I was asleep comfortably,
18:18and then I heard my mom's phone ring at, like, 5 a.m.,
18:22and then her little feet...
18:26Coming up the stairs, and then her face sort of told me that I've been nominated.
18:31That didn't happen, yeah, yeah.
18:32Which was, yeah, it was so beautiful.
18:33That's good to get the news delivered by your mom.
18:35Yeah, much better than Twitter.
18:37Better than Twitter.
18:38Yeah.
18:38And it's also better than, like, my kids hate when I wake them up in the morning for school.
18:42For once, your mom woke up, and you were happy about it, right?
18:46Yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:47What exactly did your mom say to you at that moment?
18:50Nothing.
18:51It was just silence, and she had my whole team on, like, a group FaceTime call.
18:57And that was it, yeah.
18:58Is this something, like, that as a kid you thought about being nominated for an Oscar?
19:03You know, strangely, it is.
19:05You're supposed to say, like, you know, that doesn't mean anything,
19:08and art is subjective, and all these things.
19:09But it really, it really was a dream of mine, particularly because of Heath Ledger.
19:16He sort of showed me that it was possible.
19:18Yeah, God bless, yeah.
19:21And a fun fact is, actually, I remember when I first started my career,
19:24I was kind of obnoxious, and I thought, I was like, it's not going to happen by 28, you know,
19:29and that's when it's going to take much longer.
19:32And I'm 28 years old, and I got nominated 18 years to the day after he passed.
19:39Wow.
19:40So I'd like to take this to say thank you to Heath Ledger and for that inspiration.
19:46It really, really means the world to me.
19:47You know, it's weird you say that, because I've been thinking about this,
19:50and, you know, some people, like most famous people, if you ask them, like,
19:54did you know you were going to be famous?
19:56And sometimes they lie and say no, but almost all of them will say,
19:59yeah, I kind of did know I did, like, have that thought when I was a kid.
20:04But I think it's because no one asks people who aren't famous,
20:08did you think you were going to be famous?
20:10Right, right, right.
20:11Because I have a feeling a lot of them would be like,
20:13yeah, I did think I was going to be famous.
20:16No, I just, I knew I had to be in the movies.
20:19There was sort of...
20:20Yeah, it's like imagining when you're a kid playing baseball,
20:23being in the World Series, right?
20:24Yeah, yeah.
20:24That version of that.
20:26An inability to grow up, I think, yeah.
20:28What about your dad?
20:29Was he home at the time?
20:30Dad had just flown back to Australia, actually,
20:33and it was really sweet because usually he can't,
20:35he still thinks I'm making The Kissing Booth all the time.
20:38Every movie is The Kissing Booth.
20:39He has trouble keeping track of what your project is?
20:42Yeah, and he actually knew that they were announcing the nominations
20:45and he put a bottle of champagne on ice
20:47and he stayed up till about midnight in Australia.
20:50And he called me and we popped it together on the phone.
20:52Oh, that's very sweet.
20:54For a dad, it's great, yeah.
20:55Did you get a million texts from everyone you've ever met after that?
20:59I got text messages, yeah.
21:01I got, my phone sort of erupted with text messages,
21:04which was actually disheartening because I didn't get a phone call.
21:08Maybe people were being courteous because they thought,
21:10well, you know, he's getting a lot of attention.
21:13Or they didn't care.
21:14Or they didn't care.
21:14No, I think they probably...
21:16This morning you got nominated for a BAFTA.
21:18Did you get any FaceTimes for that?
21:20Yeah.
21:21Yeah.
21:23Um, yes, I did because I reprimanded everyone for not...
21:28Good, all right.
21:29Have you chosen who will accompany you to the Oscars?
21:32Yeah, yeah, I'm going to take Mum.
21:34I promised her when I was 15 that I would take her.
21:37Oh, you did.
21:39Oh, so that's...
21:40Well, that's serious.
21:41Yeah, so I have to honor that.
21:43Did your parents think you were crazy when you promised her at 15
21:46that you were going to take her to the Oscars?
21:48Or were they like, yeah, great, I'd love to go?
21:50I think so.
21:50I think my mum, she fully believed in me the whole time.
21:53And I remember Dad did the Dad thing at one point
21:56where he was like, you know, you've got to have a plan B
21:59because this isn't necessarily feasible.
22:02And I think I said something like, my plan B is the Oscars
22:05or something like that.
22:06Yeah, yeah.
22:07Yeah, that's...
22:08Yeah.
22:09Well, it's good.
22:10That was lucky.
22:12Um, okay, so are your parents cool around other actors?
22:16You don't have to worry about that?
22:17Yeah.
22:18Yeah, they are pretty...
22:19They seem to be pretty, pretty, pretty cool.
22:22Sufficiently stoked when they meet cool people.
22:24Like, Mum met Brooke Shields the other night.
22:26Incredible for her.
22:27Uh-huh.
22:29But, yeah, I think...
22:30Who else is on your mum's list
22:32that you might have to be concerned about?
22:34I would say John Travolta.
22:36Oh, yeah.
22:37Yeah, John Travolta, I would probably usher her to the next room.
22:43You, um, worked with Guillermo del Toro.
22:45As we mentioned, did you get to go to his house
22:47because he's got this big house
22:49with all the collectibles
22:51from all these different horror films and...
22:54Yeah, I went to his house before we made the film.
22:56And I remember you walk in the door
22:58and you're greeted by the Elephant Man.
23:01And then his skeleton is just behind him.
23:03And it's the actual skeleton taken from a black market mold
23:07from back in the day of the actual Elephant Man.
23:10And then there's a window with permanent rain, always.
23:15He has a window that has rain on it.
23:17And I walk into his kitchen
23:18and Christoph Waltz is sat in a throne chair
23:21drinking Mexican coffee.
23:24Does he keep Christoph there as a display?
23:27He keeps us all there.
23:29He keeps you there.
23:29We all live there.
23:31Guillermo has these beautiful journals,
23:33these books that he draws his characters
23:35and writes his notes in.
23:37And I heard that you had kind of a similar thing
23:40while you were preparing for this role.
23:42Yeah.
23:43Was it a scrapbook?
23:44Is that correct?
23:44It's essentially a scrapbook.
23:46Yeah.
23:46It was because I had so little time before the movie
23:49that I really didn't know what to do.
23:50So I just kind of deferred to cut and paste.
23:53Like, I just started putting pictures on top of things.
23:55What kind of pictures did you cut out?
23:57All sorts.
23:58You know, paintings and Polaroids that I took of trees.
24:02And it was very, very sort of random, obscure kind of thing.
24:06But it ended up being this kind of patchwork
24:08or a quilt that turned into the character, you know,
24:12because so much of it is physical.
24:13It's not necessarily there.
24:14And the character itself is kind of a patchwork, isn't it?
24:16Of things and ideas and references.
24:19And body parts.
24:20And body parts.
24:21Yeah, well, I guess it worked.
24:24I hope so, yeah.
24:26I'd like to imagine you, though, going, like,
24:28to Michael's for a glue gun or something like that.
24:31I do.
24:32No, I use this.
24:33I can't remember what it's called.
24:34It's not coffee decks, but it might be coffee decks.
24:36It's the one with the little brush.
24:38Oh, yeah.
24:38You put the brush and the glue and then, yeah, yeah.
24:41Well, you know, you should thank them at the Oscars
24:44should you win.
24:44Yeah.
24:45We're going to take a break.
24:46We're going to see a clip from your new film,
24:47Wuthering Heights.
24:48Jacob Elordi is here.
25:01I have not broken your heart.
25:04You have broken it.
25:06And in breaking it, you've broken mine.
25:20That is Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights.
25:24It opens in February 14th.
25:26Margot was here last night.
25:27Yeah.
25:28And I don't know, maybe you know the story, but she told a story about her friends through
25:32a bachelorette party for her character, Kathy, and surprised her with this.
25:37And she said there were all these women, 20 women, just shrieking nonstop when they saw
25:43you on the screen.
25:46And she even said that, had you been at this event, they would have eaten you.
25:55I don't know.
25:56What do you say to that?
25:57That seems extreme.
25:58I don't know.
25:59What do you say to that?
26:00It's a little scary.
26:01She's intense.
26:02Yeah.
26:02Her and her friends are intense.
26:03I think it's the friends you've got to worry about.
26:05The friends are intense.
26:06Yeah.
26:07They're good fun.
26:07You worked with Emerald Fennell, the director of this film, on Salt Burn.
26:13At that time, did you sense that she was, like, sizing you up to play Heathcliff?
26:25Wow.
26:26No, I actually had no idea until she said it in the press that she saw me come in and
26:31she
26:32said she saw that I had sideburns.
26:34And it reminded her of the front cover of the novel, The Wuthering Heights, that she had
26:39read when she was a kid.
26:40But she didn't.
26:40And she told me maybe two years after making Salt Burn, she texted me and she said, do you
26:47want to play Heathcliff?
26:48That was it.
26:50Yeah.
26:50Because of the sideburns.
26:51Is that what got her going?
26:52I suppose so.
26:53I suppose.
26:54Which was, you know, I'll take it.
26:56Yeah.
26:57And then you went straight from playing The Creature to playing Heathcliff, right?
27:03Was that one after the other?
27:05I want to say, yeah.
27:06I want to say that was the next thing that I made.
27:08Did you ever get confused?
27:11I'm always confused.
27:14Yeah.
27:15Yeah, no, I did.
27:16I remember there was one point where I had gotten so comfortable acting underneath the
27:21mask, sort of the makeup of The Creature.
27:23I was sort of so free.
27:24And then all of a sudden it was my face in front of the camera.
27:26And I think it was, there's a scene with an egg in Wuthering Heights and my reaction to
27:33what happens with the egg was like, I turned to wash my hands and I went, I was like, that's
27:42not going to play here.
27:44But, you know, strangely enough, they both have a Yorkshire accent and a similar wig.
27:49So it was kind of confusing between the two.
27:53And they're also both sort of these gothic, you know, creatures in a way.
27:57Do you take memento from the set when a film wraps?
28:02Yeah.
28:03Yeah.
28:03I usually pinch something.
28:04I remember in Kissing Booth 3, I took this, there was this house full of toys and things
28:11and I took this little twin reflex camera, this Yashica, off the wall and shot a roll
28:15on it and it worked, which was exciting.
28:17And then on this film, I took Heathcliff's tooth, a poet shirt and this weird like clock
28:30thing that was like a gold necklace on the wall.
28:34Is it Flavor Flav style?
28:35Yeah, honestly, it is.
28:37It's like, it's like Buddhist Flavor Flav.
28:39Oh, you got the gold tooth.
28:40You got the Flavor Flav clock.
28:42This is a different movie.
28:43Yeah.
28:43Wait for my mixtape.
28:44Yeah.
28:45All you need are a couple of, yeah, boys, and you can be in front of the enemy.
28:50Well, it's great to have you here.
28:51Congratulations.
28:52The movie's called Wuthering Heights.
28:54It opens the theaters February 13th.
28:56Jacob Elordi, everybody.
28:57We'll be back with you.
29:13This week on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Nate Bargetze, Joe Scarborough, Kermit the Frog, Kaley Cuoco,
29:23and music from The Format.
29:37Fireball back.
29:39Music from Jason Hizbill and the 400 unit is on the way.
29:43Our next guest is a very funny lady with a new series you can hear on Audible.
29:48It's called Big Age.
29:49It comes out February 5th.
29:51Please welcome Niecy Nash-Betz.
30:09How are you?
30:13You know, Niecy, had that not been the air kiss, you could have been part of our polycule.
30:18Oh, wow.
30:19It's never too late.
30:22How's it going?
30:23It's going great.
30:24How you doing?
30:25I'm doing well, thank you.
30:26I'm glad you're out here saying what you want to say.
30:30Well, you got it, right?
30:32Who's your celebrity crush?
30:34Who is your person?
30:35My celebrity crush, believe it or not, I'm getting tongue-tied just even thinking about
30:40it, was Billy Dee Williams.
30:43I believe it.
30:44Now, Lady Sings the Blues, Mahogany, I just, okay, yeah, somebody else.
30:50But let me tell you what happened, though.
30:51I got to meet my celebrity crush, and I blew it so bad.
30:55Oh, no.
30:57He walked up to me, and my eyes got big.
31:00I threw my arms around him.
31:02I felt him hugging me back, and I didn't know what to say, so I just said, I'll have
31:07my tubes untied to give you a baby.
31:10I'm like, why did I say that?
31:13Why did I say that?
31:15I mean, I probably would have done it, but why did I admit it?
31:18Why did I admit that?
31:19It's a pretty strong compliment.
31:22I know.
31:23You could have been the next Mrs. Lando Calrissian.
31:26Listen, I could have.
31:28Wow.
31:28That's something else.
31:29Oh, Billy Dee, you haven't seen him since?
31:31No.
31:31All right.
31:32That would be touche.
31:34Now, the last time you were here, you were talking about your wife, Jessica, and what
31:40did you call it?
31:41Yes.
31:41Goals.
31:42Goals.
31:44Yeah, because we, yeah, the last time I was here, I was telling you we were trying
31:48to make love all around the world.
31:50Yes, you were counting the countries.
31:52Like, Mark, do you have, like, a map that you put a pin in or anything like that?
31:57Well, no, but, you know, the TV show that I just wrapped, All's Fair, because of the
32:04press tour, I got to squeeze in Brazil, London, Paris, where else did we go?
32:10Well, that tour was good for me.
32:12That's good numbers-wise.
32:14It was good for my...
32:17At the time, I think, last time you were here, which was, I think, like, a little over
32:21a year ago, your number was 26.
32:23What are we at now?
32:24Oh, uh, I think we have added another four.
32:28Okay, you're at 30.
32:30Good.
32:30It's going to get harder as it goes, though, because you're going to have to travel further.
32:36It's going to become increasingly difficult.
32:38What was the best country that you made love in?
32:42Greece.
32:43Greece?
32:43Yeah, I loved it there.
32:45Greece was amazing.
32:46They invented...
32:47I think they invented sex in Greece.
32:48Hey, if they didn't, we handled it when we got there.
32:54You mentioned All's Fair.
32:56Now, that is a show that I'm so interested in what goes on on the set, because the cast
33:03is, like, just, it's, it's, it almost seems made up, right?
33:07Yes.
33:08Glenn Close, Tiana Taylor, Sarah Paulson, Kim Kardashian, um, Naomi, um, and Naomi Watts.
33:17Yeah, we're all there.
33:18But you know what?
33:18Because we're friends in real life, I had a hoedown for my birthday party.
33:23You did?
33:23Naomi came, Sarah came, Tiana came.
33:26I think, I don't know if they all rode the mechanical bull, because I didn't get a chance
33:29to.
33:30But those are my, like, I love those ladies.
33:33Who did get on the bull?
33:34I don't know.
33:35I think they all got on it.
33:36I just didn't get on it.
33:37You weren't paying attention to the bull?
33:39Well, you know what?
33:40My, my outfit was so fabulous.
33:42I see.
33:42And I had to sashay around.
33:44I had to let people get a load of me.
33:46You do have to sashay around.
33:47Yeah, with my birthday party.
33:48I had the same problem.
33:50Yeah.
33:51Now you have this new series on Audible, which is audio.
33:55It's, it's, it's, uh, it's interesting.
33:56It's a comedy series on Audible.
33:58This is kind of like the old days of radio, where they would do these scripted series,
34:02and people would, you know, of course then in those days, that's what they had to listen
34:05to.
34:05But now people have gone back to that, which is kind of cool.
34:08Come on back.
34:08It's myself, Cedric the Entertainer, and Jennifer Lewis, um, from the mind of Kenya Barris.
34:15And it is so funny.
34:16So Jennifer and Cedric play, uh, a married couple, um, and they check into a retirement
34:23home, like a village kind of retirement community.
34:25Uh-huh.
34:26And I'm his ex-girlfriend from high school.
34:29So now he's in the retirement village with his wife and his old flame.
34:36And the old flame.
34:36And you're the old flame.
34:37Yes.
34:38The old flame.
34:39And, um, you, now, I knew this, that this high school detail, and so we actually looked,
34:44we looked up, uh, a photo of you, and this is you.
34:48Ah!
34:48And what high school did you go to?
34:50I, this was for Gardena High School.
34:53People judge me because I had three prom dates.
34:55Yeah.
34:56Well, I don't think anybody's judging you.
35:00I think we're, I think people are probably more impressed by that than anything, right?
35:04I mean, I'm a lot.
35:05How does that work?
35:06How do you wind up with three prom dates in the first place?
35:09Well, the, this one over here on the far end, we broke up.
35:13That was my boyfriend.
35:14All the way over.
35:15Okay, all right.
35:16He was my boyfriend and we broke up.
35:18So the guy in the round glasses was your boyfriend?
35:20Yes, we broke up.
35:21And the other guy in the round glasses is your date, and then the other guy in the round
35:25glasses is also your date.
35:26Yeah, I like people with glasses.
35:28You like guys with glasses?
35:29Um, no, so we broke up.
35:32And so since we broke up, he still wanted to take me to the prom.
35:35And I said, well, you won't be the only one.
35:38And then you checked it with the other guys, and everybody said, yeah, we're okay with being?
35:44I just said, be at my house at five.
35:49And who brought the corsage?
35:51Because whoever brought this is really your, your date, right?
35:55Well, the, the, the one I broke up with brought that.
35:58He was just trying to be, you know, getting, trying to curry favor.
36:01Wow.
36:02Yeah.
36:02Three prom dates.
36:03You know how many prom dates I had?
36:05How many?
36:06None.
36:06You didn't go to the prom?
36:08No.
36:09Okay, listen, you have to.
36:10My, my spouse didn't.
36:11It's too late.
36:12No, it's not.
36:13My spouse never went to the prom.
36:15And guess what?
36:16Recently, we threw a, my friend threw a party, and it was a prom theme.
36:20I got the old school stretch limo, the, the bow tie, like the whole bit.
36:25Where is that picture?
36:26Somebody pulled that up.
36:27That, that, and so you should still go to the prom.
36:30Can I tell you something?
36:31I, honestly, if someone did that for me, it would be the saddest thing that ever happened.
36:35What?
36:38Why are you like this?
36:40I don't know.
36:41I don't know.
36:42But I would be, I would be embarrassed by it.
36:44I would, because it would be, like, the whole thing is like, oh, you poor loser, let's have
36:49a party.
36:50No, it would be, I love you so much, and I want you to experience this thing.
36:56Change your mind.
36:58It looks like them.
37:01I have an idea.
37:03What?
37:03Maybe I'll go to the prom, and my days could be my wife, and you and your wife.
37:08Oh.
37:09And you could bring me a corsage.
37:11And then we could form a polycule afterwards.
37:15Let's, let's get it.
37:17All right.
37:18In Greece.
37:21Well, it's great to see you.
37:23It's good to see you, too.
37:24E.C. Nash Betts, everybody.
37:25Big A's premieres February 5th on Audible.
37:28And All's Fair is on Hulu now.
37:31Season 2 is coming.
37:32We'll be right back with Jason Isbell and the floor of the unit.
37:41Thanks to Jacob Elordi and E.C. Nash Betts' apologies, and Matt Damon Nightline is next.
37:47But first, this is his Grammy-nominated album, Foxes in the Snow, here with the song Crimson
37:52Clay, Jason Isbell and the 400 unit.
37:58I've had it with me, everywhere I've been.
38:04Red clay under my nails, deep crimson on my skin.
38:09And you could strip me of everything I own.
38:14And just leave me with the memories of my Alabama home.
38:19Yes, that highway didn't kill me in the wall.
38:25I thought I was a porter in that train.
38:29Fire in Arkansas, but I've just let it go and walk away.
38:36I call back to the crimson in the clay.
38:48I've got a little bolt action on my ninth birthday.
38:53And I can flip a silver dollar from a hundred yards away.
38:59Nineteen eleven, under my floor, man.
39:04And one day it just occurred to me, I got no use for that.
39:10Guess the city didn't kill me after all.
39:15The thing that really took me out was loneliness and alcohol.
39:21And I just put it down and walk away.
39:25And I call back to the crimson in the clay.
39:38I see the moon in the morning.
39:44And I anticipate the night.
39:51With this moon in the kitchen.
39:54We are waiting on the night.
39:58We are waiting on the night.
40:00Little news in the night.
40:05We are waiting on the night.
40:10We are waiting on the night.
40:12River flags on the highway.
40:16Moving crosses on the road.
40:19I guess this small town doesn't suit me after all
40:28But there's still so many lonely kids
40:31Surrounded by the rest of y'all
40:34And I can't seem to keep myself away
40:38So I head back to the prison and the clay
40:51The prison and the clay
41:34The prison and the clay
41:49The prison and the clay
