00:07You know, it was reported by Monday Q that evening, and then it kind of raced around Twitter that that
00:13whole night.
00:14I guess I should say is, did you hear about it before?
00:17And how quickly had you booked a Mexico City flight after that to go figure out?
00:23You know, there wasn't many people that that hopped on a plane to go try to do their own investigative
00:27reporting.
00:28So, yeah, I think I'll shout out the teamwork here with Brendan Quinn, who obviously did the epic smiley story.
00:36You could forget. Brendan Quinn, Gabby Herzig and Adam Crafton over at The Athletic.
00:42And I think Sunday night was when we first got a message.
00:45So a few messages being like, hey, we're hearing like, well, actually, no, it was from people on Live's staff
00:50being like,
00:51like executives are planning on trying, like are being told their job might not be here and we got to
00:56find other options.
00:56So I think Sunday night was when we heard something.
00:59Even then we're like, all right, I don't know.
01:01Is that the same night? I'm trying to remember the timeline.
01:03It's Master Sunday.
01:04Oh, that was Master Sunday.

01:06Oh, wow.
01:07Which makes it even more fascinating that like everything seemed so kosher all week in Augusta.
01:13And maybe it was less kosher than I thought.
01:15But and then Monday, all of a sudden, it starts picking up a lot of steam.
01:20And that's still kind of happened quietly.
01:22I want to say the French tweet was Tuesday, right?
01:25Could be wrong.
01:26But Monday, we start hearing a lot more and we start moving, you know, Gabby and Brendan and I start
01:32hearing more things.
01:34Tuesdays when it's like this might be shutting down tomorrow.
01:38Like it was they might not play Mexico City.
01:41It was truly like a we are in a mad dash to figure out what's happening here because this is
01:47not going to exist.
01:48But at this point, we knew PIF was planning to pull its funding.
01:52But so much was still vague.
01:53I think it's a good example, a good lesson for all of us of like really sometimes wait because we
01:58weren't that far away from reporting.
02:00It's not happening.
02:01And I think the positive thing of going to Mexico City, which like not to jump ahead, but like was
02:06a lot of what I learned there was like it was down to the wire.
02:09This wasn't like a what we were hearing was wrong.
02:12And thank God we waited because no things change in this.

02:16It's like coaching searches and college football.

02:18Like stuff's just changing constantly.
02:21And I think they, from what I understand, according to live sources, like they kind of got the final round
02:28of funding for 26, like down to maybe Wednesday, Tuesday.
02:31Like it was down to the wire, chaotic week of meetings for Scott O'Neill.
02:35So and so then by when I think Tuesday night, the Monday Q tweet goes out.
02:40So now we're like, oh, we kind of kind of got beat to this.
02:43But like, let's just take our time.
02:44Like, let's figure it out.
02:46And by Wednesday afternoon, it was clear, like, OK, this is going to go on.
02:50This is going to exist.
02:51But live is in massive trouble.
