00:00I got to New Orleans in 2013. Bryson was actually already here. He started in 2010.
00:06He was a 23-year-old intern when he first started, and I just remember the first story I did
00:11on him,
00:11and one of the things he talked about is his first day here, the job was to unload some boxes
00:16at the practice facility of the New Orleans Hornets at the time.
00:22That was his assignment. He had to unload some boxes, and he really started from the very bottom and worked
00:27his way up.
00:27You just always kind of root for those kind of guys, but that's what he did.
00:31He was just an intern, making coffee runs in the morning for the gym, and just whatever they needed done,
00:38going to pick up players from the airport.
00:39He was just a guy fresh out of college, just trying to find his way, and eventually he moved up.
00:48I think his first job was a video coordinator, which was something he knew absolutely nothing about,
00:53but he took the task on. Monty Williams wanted him to do that. Monty Williams was the coach at the
00:58time.
01:00Bryson, he didn't really want to do it, but they talked to him in doing it, and he did it,
01:05and he succeeded at that.
01:07He worked in the meetings, sat in the meetings, and was basically like the secretary in all the meetings.
01:12He knows every aspect of a basketball team and just how to run an operation.
01:17He climbed all the way up to general manager, and he did that up until two seasons ago here.
01:24Then he went over to the Hawks for one season and did some good things there, and now he's running
01:29the Chicago Bulls,
01:30one of the most storied franchises in the NBA.
01:32So it's really an incredible story when you look at just where he started from and where he is now.
01:37He keeps a picture in his cell phone of that very first day when he was unloading boxes at the
01:43L.A.
01:43I'm standing here in West Wego.
01:47I think it kind of keeps him humble and knows where he came from.
01:49He doesn't think that anything is too small for him, so he's willing to just do whatever it takes to
01:54get the job done,
01:55and that's why he's made it where he is now.
01:59He's only 39 years old, really young and really prospering in this field.
