00:00Hoy en The Proof es Out There, la historia que hacÃa la nación.
00:05Sonos de drones flying over New Jersey.
00:07¿Qué es detrás de él?
00:08¿Y qué quieren?
00:10Es un poco unsettling.
00:11Estas cosas comenzando a aparecer.
00:27¿Dónde este astronaut spot a UFO outside the International Space Station?
00:35¿Cudie estos holes at the bottom of Lake Michigan, these sinking ships?
00:39The reason they call it a burp of death is that methane gas is very dangerous.
00:43Divers in France search for the source of this legendary spring.
00:47But what will they find?
00:49The story goes, inside this kind of cavernous area resides this horrible, terrible monster known as the basilisk.
00:56And was this woman in bed with a ghost?
01:00This idea of a parasitic spirit is very common.
01:04They are desperate for some kind of human contact.
01:12Around the globe are videos, photos, and sounds that defy explanation.
01:26We don't know where they come from, who made them, or how they operate.
01:30What are they?
01:31Some sort of bizarre mutation.
01:33What's exciting is nobody really knows.
01:35Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof.
01:39I'm Tony Harris, and as a journalist for more than 30 years, I've followed the facts where they take me.
01:46Now I'm bringing that spirit of investigation to the world's strangest sounds and images.
01:51It's coming towards us.
01:52We'll analyze each one with top experts.
01:55It's a credible case.
01:57It's a credible video.
01:58And pass a verdict on what it is.
02:01This video was clearly faked.
02:03The proof starts now.
02:13Good evening, and welcome to The Proof is Out There.
02:16Our first story needs no introduction, but I'm here, so here we go.
02:21This mystery began as a spate of sightings in one U.S. state and grew into a worldwide phenomenon.
02:27Officials have one opinion, residents have another,
02:29and now it's time for The Proof team to weigh in on the New Jersey drones.
02:36November 2024, Randolph, New Jersey.
02:40Mike Walsh sees some discussion online about mysterious drones over his area,
02:46so he decides to go out and look for himself.
02:48That's when he realizes the drones aren't rumors.
02:51They're real, and he starts recording.
02:54In the pitch-black sky, three white orbs blink at seemingly random intervals with no visible structure to connect them.
03:02The first time I saw one in person, it was a bit unsettling,
03:05because just, why are there so many of these things?
03:07They were never there before.
03:09What are they doing?
03:10In the following weeks, Mike and many others see hundreds more of these strange objects,
03:15from pronged formations to orbs surrounding him on all sides.
03:19The New Jersey sightings quickly become the subject of national news and speculation.
03:25I mean, everyone was talking about these drones.
03:28What is that?
03:30And it led to this feeling like New Jersey was under attack.
03:35Many people, including Mike, even call the police to report their sightings.
03:40Then, the heavyweights show up.
03:42The FBI got heavily involved in its investigation into these drone sightings,
03:48mainly because this part of New Jersey is home to a lot of sensitive installations that need to be protected.
03:55For one, the Trump National Golf Club and the Picatinny Arsenal Military Base.
04:00And this would insinuate to them that perhaps these drones are there for some nefarious purpose.
04:06The most common theory that started to pop up was that the vast majority of these drones were some sort
04:13of foreign reconnaissance project.
04:16And it's not just New Jersey.
04:18New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and even U.S. military bases in Europe see a rash of mysterious
04:25drones.
04:27To complicate matters, researchers John and Jerry Tedesco say some of these objects outperform known drone tech.
04:35Most local agencies deployed drone buster technology.
04:39Basically, they transmit interference patterns, and they're designed to interrupt transmissions from a remote location to the drone itself.
04:47That didn't yield much in the way of results as far as stopping the flow of the drones or interfering
04:54how they fly.
04:55And that suggests that these are different than our typical commercial drones.
05:03In December 2024, one New Jersey police chief, Joseph Orlando, publicly declared that the UFOs appeared nefarious in nature.
05:13Are they from adversaries like Russia or China, clandestine craft closer to home, or something else altogether?
05:25First and foremost, did Mike spot a foreign reconnaissance drone, like so many suspect?
05:30Those drones typically aren't going to have lights that say, hey, I'm over here, look at me.
05:36You know, they're going to actually, if they had lights, they're going to turn them off.
05:39On this side, you see a red light.
05:42And on the left side, you see a green light.
05:45Now, FAA mandates aircraft lighting to have navigational lighting like this.
05:53And what kind of aircraft would follow FAA mandates?
05:57Just looking at the lighting pattern and the anti-collision light, the red light that flashes on the bottom there,
06:04that just is entirely consistent with a commercial aircraft.
06:08The featureless black sky around it likely creates the illusion of a slower, even hovering craft,
06:15since it doesn't offer any reference points for speed.
06:18But what about all these other New Jersey drone sightings?
06:21Some of them didn't appear on radar, so they can't all be commercial planes, right?
06:26We have to keep in mind that radar works to a certain altitude and starts working at a certain altitude.
06:33Below that altitude, you might be off the radar.
06:35So many times, when a plane gets too low, you aren't under radar coverage anymore.
06:42The majority of these incidents can be attributed to misidentifications of commercial aircraft.
06:49The second batch, I think, you have people who are taking their hobby drones and putting them up in the
06:55air now
06:56in hopes of capturing these mystery drones and, frankly, creating more confusion.
07:01So there were no foreign drones.
07:04Well, we didn't say that.
07:06Remember, like the Tedesco brothers said, some of these craft appear to have very sophisticated configurations.
07:14The public gets to hear one thing, and some people that have connections with Washington will hear another thing.
07:20Now, the question is, are we hearing the full truth?
07:22Absolutely not.
07:24And the reason to hide the truth is that so the enemy is not allowed to know what you know.
07:28And the fact remains that these drones have made an indelible mark on the people in New Jersey.
07:39Our verdict?
07:41Mike's video is a commercial plane.
07:43But other sightings, like this one, still remain unexplained, according to the Tedescos.
07:49In January 2025, the White House claimed that the craft were mostly FAA-authorized planes and drones
07:56being flown for research and various other reasons.
07:59New Jersey residents weren't satisfied with that, and neither are we.
08:06We are just getting started with UFOs tonight, and this next one comes out of South America.
08:12Pilot UFO encounters provide some of our most credible cases.
08:16And this encounter you're about to see is so compelling, some have called it the best UFO video ever.
08:24May 4th, 2023, pilot Jorge Arteaga is flying a Cessna T-303 Crusader 12,500 feet over Colombia,
08:34en route to Medellin, when he sees a strange object moving toward the plane.
08:38He turns to his co-pilot, who confirms he also saw the object.
08:42Determined to investigate, Jorge turns the plane around and begins recording.
08:47A small speck appears in the distance, slowly approaching the aircraft.
08:52Then, in the blink of an eye, a silvery object zooms past the cockpit window.
08:57Let's slow that down.
08:59The object appears to be rotated at a 45-degree angle,
09:03with a metallic domed top that tapers out into a sharp rim.
09:07When YouTuber Andrew Crawford finds the video online, he knows he has to get the word out.
09:13As soon as I saw it, I thought, wow, we have something that we need to take a closer look
09:17at.
09:18So, I put the video out there, and it just took on a life of its own.
09:23Andrew's followers flocked to the video, with some comments calling it the best UFO video ever.
09:28And soon, the pilot's firsthand account emerges in news reports.
09:32He said when he was getting closer to this object, the object shot at him, straight towards him.
09:39Which, wow, that's pretty spectacular.
09:41Also, this thing seemed to have the capabilities of some sort of intelligent flight,
09:47where it banked to avoid crashing into the plane, even though it flew right at it.
09:53And it's not the only strange craft seen over Colombia.
09:56In 2020, a pilot flying an Airbus A320 over Medellin, Colombia, saw a square object in the sky.
10:04When you look at the video, it looks like it's solid metal, but it's very small.
10:09It doesn't have an engine.
10:10It doesn't have wings.
10:12The object also evades radar detection, leaving the pilot puzzled.
10:16He said it was way too high up to be a balloon.
10:19He couldn't explain what it was.
10:21We analyzed that one ourselves in an earlier episode.
10:25And we couldn't explain it either, making it a genuine UFO.
10:30Then, in March 2025, another spherical UFO flies over Colombia, and allegedly even lands.
10:38X-rays of the sphere show multiple layers of metal surrounding a central chip.
10:43But its origins remain a mystery.
10:46Is what our pilot saw somehow related to that puzzling sphere?
10:51This isn't a clearly identified object, so there's a mystery to it.
10:57The two other things that heighten this mystery.
11:00One, this UFO didn't show up on radar.
11:03And two, it seems this pilot is trying to stay off our radar.
11:07That's right.
11:08Despite our attempts to talk to the man himself, it's been radio silence.
11:13So, is this actually the best UFO ever?
11:16Or is there reason to be suspicious?
11:19We'll let our experts decide.
11:25First off, could the video be a fake?
11:28To me, it's extremely fishy that they knew that this object was going to come across the sky.
11:35And pointing their camera when they did.
11:37And then had this one incident happen,
11:40where now you've got this object coming across their window.
11:43I don't think that it's there.
11:44I think it's actually a computer-generated image.
11:47Then again, the pilot's foresight in filming the object is consistent with the account he gave in initial interviews,
11:53that he had already seen it and went back for another glance.
11:56We may not be ready to call this one a hoax just yet.
12:01From this recording, the clarity of the object is strong.
12:06There is nothing that suggests that that object was added into that scene.
12:11If it's not a fake, could it be space junk falling to Earth?
12:16This is definitely not a falling rocket part, because it was actually holding steady at that particular altitude.
12:23Wait a minute.
12:23Holding steady?
12:24The pilot himself says this thing sped right past him.
12:28But D'Antonio doesn't see that here.
12:31I don't think he saw something coming at him at very high speed.
12:33I think he saw something he was passing at very high speed that was sitting rather still in the air,
12:39and thus it looked like it was moving toward him at very high speed.
12:43With that in mind, we can think of only one likely culprit.
12:47I believe that what we're looking at here was moving much slower than the aircraft.
12:52Maybe it's traveling on air currents, and we saw it zip by.
12:56In some of the still frames, I was able to see that the object had the uncanny resemblance to a
13:02mylar balloon.
13:02However, Hoffman disagrees.
13:06With a balloon, the aircrafts moving along would have probably caused it to deviate or move around a little bit.
13:14The wind's going to buffer it and make it move in different directions.
13:18And you just don't see that here.
13:20Then could this really be a genuine UFO?
13:23Opinions are divided.
13:25I think it's CGI.
13:27To me, every aspect of this says mylar balloon.
13:30You've got a daytime sighting.
13:32You've got a credible witness.
13:34It's not something minuscule.
13:36It's not even out of focus.
13:38It is such a clear image that it was dubbed one of the best UFO sightings of that year.
13:45It's inconclusive.
13:51Our verdict?
13:52This is an unexplained object.
13:55At least until our experts can reach more of a consensus.
14:00When you're thinking of frightening aquatic monsters, giant beasts like Nessie in Scotland come to mind.
14:07But size doesn't always matter.
14:10Sometimes the scariest creatures come in the smallest packages.
14:14It's June 2015 in Penghu, Taiwan.
14:19A fisherman is plying his trade at a local port.
14:22But he is stunned when today's catch looks like something pulled straight from a nightmare.
14:29A strange green creature slowly crawls along the ground.
14:34Its body undulates and an uncanny pink appendage flicks in and out of its body.
14:40When this fisherman posted this video online, it immediately got a million views.
14:45Most people thought that it might be some type of mutant worm or perhaps something extraterrestrial from outer space.
14:52And that might not be as crazy as it sounds.
14:56Astrobiologists continue to present findings that certain life forms named extremophiles can endure the extreme conditions of space travel.
15:06Could worm-like visitors be dropping onto the planet's surface?
15:10Some say that's exactly what happened just recently in neighboring China.
15:14Just a year before this video was shot in the Chinese province of Liaoning,
15:19there was actually a video of weird worm-like animals raining from the sky.
15:25And that particular incident was so startling that the local government actually warned people to stay indoors.
15:31A darker theory suggests this creature isn't from the sky above, but from the netherworlds below.
15:37In Chinese Taoist philosophy, there is something known as the three worms.
15:42The belief that all people are essentially infested by three demonic parasites that are worm-like in nature,
15:51and they reside in our three energy centers, the head, the chest, and the abdomen.
15:56This belief states that when someone dies, these worms will actually leave the body,
16:02and they will transform into malevolent ghosts that will essentially haunt the planet.
16:08Does this thing actually add some credibility to this idea of these three worms that reside inside human hosts?
16:17And finally, some have suggested this green gross-out is the result of nuclear pollution.
16:25From Godzilla to the Incredible Hulk to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
16:30green creatures born from exposure to radiation or toxic waste are a recurring theme in popular fiction.
16:37Could this green entity share a similarly hazardous origin?
16:42Let's check in with our experts.
16:49First, could nuclear waste really be responsible for this neon nightmare?
16:54There have obviously been theories this is some kind of a radioactive creature,
16:58but this animal isn't glowing, and it actually seems really healthy if it were subjected to nuclear waste.
17:06We would see large lesions and injuries and probably scarring around its body.
17:12Seems to be fairly healthy and have a solid coat of skin on it.
17:17Well, then could this creature be connected to those infamous worms that fell from the sky?
17:23These were referred to as alien sky worms on social media.
17:27It turned out that these worms were actually just the fuzzy seed components of poplar trees.
17:33They just were very worm-like in appearance.
17:35Even with the crazy reports of the alien sky worms versus this, just, it doesn't look the same at all.
17:41This creature looks almost wet in appearance.
17:44It's very slimy and gelatinous.
17:47We're clearly looking at a live animal here, and that's what makes it even more interesting.
17:53So we're starting to wonder if that folkloric demon worm theory might be true.
17:58But then our experts solve the riddle.
18:01This creature is actually something known as a ribbon worm, which can be found all throughout the water column.
18:06The pink structure you're seeing come out of its mouth is actually its tongue,
18:10but it's not necessarily a tongue as we think of our own tongues.
18:14This is actually a specialized structure they use to subdue prey, and some of them can actually be poisonous.
18:19But if our experts have solved the mystery of what this thing is, they haven't figured out what it's doing
18:25here.
18:26It's very rare to see an animal like this on a dock or on land,
18:31because typically it would be pretty well submerged on the bottom of the ocean.
18:36It's possible it could have been tasting or feeding on bait, for example,
18:41that was left in the water and just got caught.
18:44But it typically wouldn't be found moving across land, because it would dry out very quickly.
18:50Being on the surface of a boat or a dock wouldn't be a really great place to be if you're
18:55a ribbon worm.
19:00Our verdict?
19:01This isn't some atomic monster or space creature, just your run-of-the-mill ribbon worm,
19:07likely picked up by one of the fishing boats.
19:09But like something out of science fiction, the ribbon worm can not only grow lost body parts,
19:15in some cases, entire new worms can grow out of the fragments of the original.
19:20Let's just hope these guys don't start falling out of the sky one day.
19:26At the bottom of Lake Michigan, there are 210 shipwrecks, and those are just the ones that have been found.
19:33The locations of hundreds of others remain a mystery.
19:36So when a pair of underwater explorers found something even more mysterious down there,
19:41we had to check it out.
19:43In 2022, local maritime historian Brendan Baylod and diver Dusty Cliffman are combing the depths of Lake Michigan
19:53for a freighter that disappeared 50 years ago.
19:56In the middle of the night, after nearly 30 hours on the water, a strange shape appears on their sonar
20:02screen.
20:03But it's not a shipwreck.
20:07500 feet below the frigid surface, several massive craters are revealed on the flat lake bed.
20:14These multi-beam sonar images reveal their full scale.
20:18Some of the craters measure nearly a quarter mile in diameter.
20:21When Dusty and Brendan send an ROV down to the depths to investigate,
20:26it records close-ups of the craggy landscape at the base of these depressions.
20:30They had sort of a round or oblong, in some cases, shape, and they were pretty deep.
20:37Most of them were 25 to 30 feet deep, but they were huge.
20:42We found multiple craters all in that area, so we weren't really sure what we were seeing.
20:50About 40 or so craters were discovered, and a few theories started to circulate
20:55that they were somehow connected to a place known as the Lake Michigan Triangle.
21:00Legend has it that the Lake Michigan Triangle is marked by three spots,
21:05Manitowoc in Wisconsin, and Ludington and Benton Harbor in Michigan.
21:09It's an area that, like the Bermuda Triangle, has a reputation for unexplained disappearances.
21:16There have been roughly 1,500 ships that have wrecked or gone missing over the last 300 years or so.
21:25One of the earliest recorded disappearances of a ship occurred in 1679.
21:31A vessel known as Le Griffon was heading back home near Green Bay.
21:36It simply vanished.
21:38No one knows what happened to it.
21:39But perhaps the Triangle's most infamous vanishing took place in the air.
21:44On June 23rd in 1950.
21:47A Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 2501 was carrying 55 people,
21:52and it was making its trip from New York to Minneapolis,
21:56when all of a sudden, mid-flight, the plane simply disappeared off radar.
22:00And essentially, to this day, no recovery of the aircraft has ever been made.
22:06Do the craters in the scans have something to do with all this?
22:09Well, it turns out there are similar craters in that other mystery zone we mentioned.
22:15One possible explanation comes from the Bermuda Triangle,
22:19and what is comically referred to as a burp of death.
22:22And these burps of death are essentially pockets of methane
22:25that seep out of the ocean floor beneath the Bermuda Triangle.
22:30Methane pockets are created when marine life dies and falls to the seafloor, getting buried.
22:35As the remains decompose, possibly over millions of years, they build up methane.
22:41This increasingly pressurized gas escapes through fissures and releases into the water.
22:49It is believed that sudden releases, or burps, destabilize the water,
22:55causing ships to sink.
22:57It's even theorized that methane could reach the atmosphere
23:00and cause turbulence that could bring down an aircraft.
23:03Could the force of this sort of expulsion of methane explain these mysterious formations?
23:14In 1991, fishermen in Lake Michigan caught something truly odd in their net,
23:19a Sidewinder missile with a live warhead.
23:21There was no explanation for how it got there,
23:24but there is a history of naval training on Lake Michigan going back to World War II.
23:29So, another theory?
23:32Could these craters have resulted from ordnance set off underwater?
23:36Or are the burps of death to blame?
23:39Let's find out.
23:44First, is it possible that the underwater craters were created by an explosion,
23:49perhaps from a naval training exercise?
23:52If it was a product of weapons testing,
23:57one would expect to find evidence of shrapnel,
24:00evidence of a pinpoint of impact spreading out.
24:04I don't think that our current images show that kind of signature,
24:09so it does not look like the kind of bomb testing crater.
24:13What about the burps of death?
24:15Scientists have measured methane seep craters around the world
24:19in sizes ranging from three football fields to nearly a mile and a half.
24:24These formations in Lake Michigan appear to vary between 500 to about 1,000 feet across,
24:30but the photos here don't provide any smoking gun that reveals any evidence of a burp of death.
24:36So the methane theory has some competition.
24:38Just by looking at the images alone cannot determine whether this is methane seep.
24:44You cannot also rule out the possibility that this is a natural phenomenon
24:48caused by sinkholes formed into the limestone beds below.
24:51This was a highly glaciated area in the past,
24:55so one of the other possible ideas is something called kettles.
24:58Kettles are buried ice blocks that sit there for hundreds of thousands of years.
25:02And once the glacier retreats, these blocks are still left behind and they're inside the soil.
25:07So eventually they melt.
25:09And when they melt, the roof of them just collapse and they form these little depressions.
25:13So lots of theories here.
25:15Picking a winner will require a deeper dive of the lake.
25:18After you look at all the different possibilities in the geology and everything in the area,
25:22you find out this needs a lot more research to figure out what's really going on at the bottom of
25:26Lake Michigan.
25:48The European Space Agency, or ESA, is basically Europe's NASA.
25:53And as is the case with NASA, there are some who believe ESA knows more about what's really out there
26:00than it's willing to let on.
26:02For proof, they point to a video of a space encounter that even stunned one of the astronauts.
26:10November 2014, Italy's first female astronaut, Samantha Cristoforetti, is on board the Soyuz TMA-15M spacecraft.
26:22As it approaches the International Space Station to dock, something catches Cristoforetti by surprise.
26:29The video feed from the Soyuz capsule captures the moment.
26:33You can even hear Cristoforetti cry out.
26:38But what is she reacting to?
26:41After scouring the video, many believe she may have gotten a closer look at one strange object
26:47that made its appearance just a few minutes earlier.
26:53Did you see it? Let's zoom in.
26:57The object moves in a straight path down the center of the screen,
27:01apparently just beyond the ISS.
27:04When ESA releases the footage, it ignites a frenzy of online speculation.
27:09Did Cristoforetti cry out because she saw a UFO?
27:13Or did she see something else up there?
27:15Other astronauts have sworn that we are not alone.
27:19Ed Mitchell was the lunar module pilot of Apollo 14 and the sixth man to walk on the moon.
27:24And he maintained for years that the government had secrets about alien life
27:29and was withholding it from the public.
27:32But this object is a little small to be a spaceship, isn't it?
27:37Well, its size might actually make a lot of sense if it's an alien probe.
27:43Harvard physicist Abby Loeb likens these small craft to dandelion seeds coming off of a mothership
27:50that are going out to do reconnaissance or to gather samples
27:54before returning back to that larger ship.
27:56Some believe that what we're seeing in this video is one of these dandelion seeds.
28:04A fun fact.
28:06Samantha Cristoforetti is the first person to brew a cup of espresso in space.
28:12But does she also make history as the first astronaut to encounter space aliens on video?
28:18Let's ask our experts to sip on this.
28:26Back to that size issue.
28:28Since the UFO is relatively small, could it just be a mere camera artifact?
28:33Camera artifacts like lens flare are typically not linear artifacts.
28:38Like, they don't move in a straight line.
28:40They move at a kind of a curved speed.
28:41Or they look themselves to be curved
28:44because they're reflections of curved elements within the camera itself.
28:47And this just looks like a little dot moving in a straight line.
28:51So it doesn't really look like any type of lens flare.
28:53So we believe it's a real object in space.
28:56The next question is, could it really be an alien probe?
29:00Well, there's a problem with that theory.
29:03It fits more in the mundane side of things
29:06because it's just traveling in a straight line
29:08and just looking like it's just passing by the space station.
29:11That straight line means this thing isn't necessarily under intelligent control.
29:16Instead, it may simply be following an orbital path like a satellite.
29:20But hang on.
29:22The odds of actually seeing a satellite outside the space station are extremely small
29:27because satellites actually all exist at a different orbit to the space station
29:32because otherwise they'd be bumping into it.
29:34So it doesn't really look to me like it could possibly be a satellite of any sort.
29:40Then what are we seeing here?
29:42I think what we're looking at here is something that we quite often see in space videos,
29:48which is a piece of ice because it's very cold in space.
29:52Either the rocket propellants that are used to maneuver the space station,
29:56the Soyuz module,
29:58or from venting air or waste from the space station.
30:02If this is something so commonplace,
30:05why would it shock a trained astronaut?
30:10Short answer, it didn't.
30:13Given the astronaut gasp minutes later,
30:16I don't think that they're related.
30:18I don't think that was anything other than her simply being swept up by the beauty of the moment
30:23and she simply cried out in wonder.
30:25Oh my God!
30:32Our verdict, ice and one awesome view.
30:36We looked into it and Christo Ferretti has said she was reacting to the sight of a beautiful sunset
30:42reflected off the ISS.
30:44In fact, she described the sight as almost alien.
30:49Do with that what you will.
30:53Erie, Pennsylvania is home to numerous ghost stories and folklore.
30:58And while most of these encounters are reported by word of mouth,
31:01we may have video evidence to confirm
31:03that there is something eerie going on in Erie.
31:08February 2024, Erie, Pennsylvania.
31:12A mother lies quietly in bed as her baby rests silently in its nearby crib.
31:18This nanny cam captures any movements with a green outline,
31:21but everything remains relatively still until suddenly.
31:28The blanket next to the mother seems to be pulled by some invisible force.
31:33It creeps down, scaring the woman enough to grab her baby and flee the bedroom.
31:42Take a look at the bed's pillow.
31:45An imprint seems to form there in the shape of a human head
31:49as the blanket mysteriously moves.
31:51Dad, Jorge Cruz, says this ghostly activity was just the tip of the iceberg
31:56when it comes to what he and his family experienced.
31:59We started hearing, like, footsteps, and we started hearing scratches.
32:03Next thing you know, couches was being lifted off the ground.
32:06Table were flipping upside down.
32:08Refrigerator doors opening and closing.
32:11My daughter being dragged from her crib.
32:13After determining from the landlord that this had never happened here before,
32:17Cruz wondered if a ghost had somehow become personally attached to his family.
32:23Every culture across time seems to have some conception of a parasitic ghost.
32:29The revenant or a spirit that might attach itself to an individual.
32:34These are lonely spirits, desperate for some kind of human contact.
32:39Perhaps the most famous example of a parasitic ghost
32:42is the well-documented case of Doris Bither from the 1970s.
32:48Doris was a single mom with four children.
32:52She had a very rough life.
32:55The household was filled with stress.
32:57And she began reporting being physically assaulted by unseen hands,
33:04violently touching her, shoving her.
33:06It was very, very disturbing and very frightening for her and her kids.
33:10Two parapsychologists from UCLA investigated Doris' claims,
33:15which would become popularized by the best-selling novel and film, The Entity.
33:19They observed the ghostly phenomena that she was describing.
33:23They took photographs.
33:24They took electromagnetic measurements.
33:27And they were unable to reach an explanation.
33:31People wonder, as with the case of Doris' ghost,
33:35is this a video of some kind of supernatural entity unwilling to let go?
33:43Doris Bither eventually fled her house in Culver City,
33:47but she claimed the haunting followed her.
33:49Could this video be evidence of a similar spectral parasite?
33:53Let's see what our experts think.
33:59Could this video be proof of some parasitic spirit
34:02whose energy has attached itself to this family?
34:06Physics may hold the answer.
34:08Now, when you see the videotape,
34:10there's a hook of some sort
34:12that is yanking the cloth in that direction.
34:15If this was really a ghost moving the cloth,
34:19the cloth would have moved from all directions.
34:22Like when you get up in the morning
34:24and you move the bedsheets,
34:27everything moves.
34:28I'm wondering if this blanket wasn't pulled
34:31by something very thin like fishing wire.
34:34You'll notice that the blanket
34:36is bunched up
34:38in such a way
34:40where it would make it easier
34:42to conceal any trickery
34:44as opposed to a blanket just lying flat.
34:47And as far as that pillow is concerned?
34:49There are ways to achieve this effect
34:52with practical effects.
34:53Maybe some sort of balloon
34:55that's inflating the pillow
34:57and then deflates
34:58and is remote-controlled in some way.
35:00The motion of the pillow,
35:02the motion of the blanket,
35:03the running of the woman,
35:05all of them were carefully choreographed, I think.
35:09Choreographed by someone
35:10with some experience in misdirection, perhaps?
35:13You see, it turns out
35:15Jorge makes his living as a magician.
35:17I think it's really interesting
35:19that the individual involved with this video
35:22is actually a stage magician.
35:24When somebody has a magic career,
35:28they know how to pull off tricks like this.
35:35Our verdict?
35:36We agree with our experts.
35:38This is a hoax
35:39and a pretty good one at that.
35:41Jorge, you get an A for effort,
35:43but it's time to put this ghost story to bed.
35:50There's a world-famous spring in Lourdes, France,
35:53that's said to have healing properties.
35:55It's visited by millions of people every year.
35:58But we're looking at a different French spring
36:00in this next story,
36:02one that may be even more of a riddle.
36:04In fact, its mysteries might literally be bottomless.
36:09October 2019, Tonnerre, France.
36:12Professional cave diver,
36:14Pierre-Éric D'Oscénia,
36:16plunges into a spring called the Fustion,
36:19which translates to Divine Pit.
36:21On his descent, he captures this video,
36:25and the spring seems to get deeper
36:27and deeper and deeper.
36:29But he never gets to the bottom,
36:31and he's not the first to be frustrated.
36:34Over the years,
36:35so many have tried to find the source of the spring
36:38that the town had to shut it down,
36:40and for good reason.
36:54Legend says the spring is bottomless,
36:57and the tale stretches back
36:58to at least the 7th century,
37:00when a monk, Saint Jean de Rihome,
37:04allegedly discovered something sinister there.
37:06The story goes that Rihome is essentially sent by God
37:10on this kind of holy quest to the area
37:12where Fustion is,
37:14and is tasked with sort of making it safe.
37:17When he gets there,
37:18he discovers that inside this kind of cavernous area
37:22resides this horrible, terrible monster
37:25from mythology known as the Basilisk.
37:27So Rihome, protected by the power of God,
37:31goes and faces the Basilisk
37:32and essentially kills it and defeats it.
37:36While the legend of Fustion is unique,
37:39it is not the only spring in Europe
37:41rumored to be bottomless.
37:43The Czech Republic is home to the Renica Abyss,
37:46which is thought to be
37:48the largest freshwater cave in existence.
37:54No one knows the depths of its waters.
37:58In 2022, scientists attempted to probe
38:05the bottom of the spring using a submersible.
38:09It's submerged to about 1,500 feet,
38:14at which point its transmission conked out.
38:18As with the Renica Abyss,
38:21we are still awaiting discovery
38:25of the bottom of Fustion.
38:32Although Fustion's source is a mystery,
38:35we do know it is powerful.
38:37The spring spews out an average
38:39of 82 gallons of water per second.
38:42Now, we're not saying it's bottomless,
38:44but the mystery here is how deep is it,
38:47and where is all this water coming from?
38:53Underwater springs like Fustion form
38:56when rivers flood,
38:58pushing groundwater up
38:59through complex underground caves
39:01until water flows out at the surface.
39:04These cave systems can get huge,
39:06continually growing through erosion.
39:08The largest in the United States
39:10is more than a whopping 45 miles long.
39:13Only experts should go into these environments
39:16trying to figure out where they're going
39:18because there's so much unknown.
39:20One mistake, and you can be a statistic.
39:24To safely locate the source of Fustion,
39:27scientists injected a traceable dye
39:30into the nearby Lena River,
39:3227 miles from the spring.
39:34Then they found traces of that dye
39:36flowing from Fustion's waters.
39:40The main source may be higher.
39:41It could be a river that's up in the mountain.
39:44So, what did Pierre-Erik find down there?
39:47Et là , on s'enfonce progressivement
40:02Pierre-Erik didn't discover
40:04the source of the mysterious spring,
40:06nor any basilisks,
40:07but he's not giving up.
40:08Alors, je vais essayer d'y retourner.
40:11J'espère que le passage s'élargit naturellement,
40:14et auquel cas, éventuellement,
40:16donc si c'est le cas,
40:16on va continuer à aller plus loin.
40:22So, how deep is the spring,
40:24and where's the water coming from?
40:26Our verdict?
40:28Undetermined.
40:29And while divers and dyes
40:31haven't gotten to the bottom of it yet,
40:33if any other bright ideas
40:36spring to mind,
40:37we'll let you know.
40:39And that's our show for tonight.
40:40Thank you so much for watching,
40:42and remember to keep those cameras rolling.
40:57We'll see you next time.
