00:14:44This season, 14 new queens will be the light the world needs right now, more than ever.
00:14:51Wake up, sugar, baby, it's the lady, it's the lady boss who paid the way for all the hungry children
00:14:57to get paid on television.
00:14:59Wake up, sugar, baby, it's the lady boss who paid the way for all the hungry children to get paid
00:15:05on television.
00:15:13Don't be right back.
00:15:14Don't be afraid to light up the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
00:15:15Don't be afraid to light up the stage, darling.
00:15:23Find your life.
00:15:24Don't be afraid to light up the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
00:15:39Don't be afraid to light up the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
00:16:11Don't be afraid to light up the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
00:16:17My name is Athena Dion, I am the queen of Miami, the queen of Mykonos, and the Greek glam goddess
00:16:25of season 18.
00:16:26Dion should sound familiar because my little rat of, I'm sorry, my beautiful daughter got on the show before me
00:16:32on season 16, Morphine Love Dion.
00:16:35And there's another one on this season with me too.
00:16:37Juicy Love Dion, I'm a very fertile mother.
00:16:41I have a lot of drag children.
00:16:42This uterus, honey, she's been put to work.
00:16:47Listen, I am the mother of Miami, and I've been doing drag in that city for about 16 years.
00:16:54So everything I've learned on those streets, I'm bringing to the main stage.
00:16:58And there are some cutthroat bitches coming from Miami.
00:17:01And I'm here to slay, to show my gorgeous, gorgeous drag, my goddess presence, and just to bless the other
00:17:09contestants with all that is Athena Dion.
00:17:12Athena Dion lives at like the crossroad of luxury and glamour.
00:17:17My style is, it's a mixture of like good old-fashioned drag, drag, mixed with couture, glamour, a touch of
00:17:25a heavenly essence, you know, something to that effect.
00:17:28I mean, I am a goddess after all, so I think I do infuse that into my drag.
00:17:32You know, I'm inspired by a lot of celebrities.
00:17:34If we're going to talk celebrity-wise, Mother Cher.
00:17:37Do you believe in life after love?
00:17:40Celine Dion, my namesake, you know.
00:17:43Personally, my mother is a big inspiration of mine.
00:17:45She was the draggiest drag queen in my life growing up, so this is all her fault, to be honest.
00:17:54You know, I think my motherly personality, I think all my experience will help me the most in this competition.
00:18:00I've been doing this for a really long time.
00:18:01I know the girls will underestimate me because I do look very young.
00:18:05I look like one of the youngest girls on the cast, actually, so I don't think they know that I've
00:18:10been doing it for so long.
00:18:11But I am a very tight package, full of wisdom and knowledge, just like the goddess Athena.
00:18:22You want me to expose myself?
00:18:23If I tell you my signature scent right now, every little cross-dresser across the country is going to go
00:18:28out and buy it,
00:18:29and it's not going to be mine and mine alone anymore.
00:18:31Do you want me to really spill the tea?
00:18:33Okay, I'll give you this.
00:18:34I do have all of Cher's perfumes.
00:18:36She came out with a line of perfumes from every decade, from the 60s to the early 2000s.
00:18:40And depending on my mood, I will wear those.
00:18:42That's not my signature scent, though.
00:18:44I'll do this.
00:18:44I'll tell you the brand of my signature scent, but I won't tell you which one it is.
00:18:48My signature scent smells like a powerful, badass bitch with hints of oud and wood as well.
00:18:55She's a woody queen.
00:18:56It's by Mancera, but I'm not giving you which one it is.
00:19:00Back off, bitches.
00:19:04Baby, I've been doing my big one, honey.
00:19:05I've been doing my big one since 2009.
00:19:06So it only gets bigger, better, and faster, and longer, and stronger.
00:19:11And everything else, all of the above, honey.
00:19:13D, all of the above.
00:19:14I have been America's next drag superstar.
00:19:17I'm just here to pick up the check and the crown.
00:19:20Snap, snap, snap, honey.
00:19:22I want to cross my leg, but that sounds like a lot of work.
00:19:24I designed this look.
00:19:25I designed all my legs.
00:19:26I'm going to try to sit back just slightly so I can get a little...
00:19:28I got it.
00:19:29So we got full body on this?
00:19:31If I just sat down and didn't talk at all, you'd probably think, like, oh, little lady.
00:19:35Like...
00:19:36I just can't stop.
00:19:37Like, I just have, like, the gift of gab.
00:19:43My name is Briar Blush, and I'm from Boston, Massachusetts.
00:19:46The Boston trait that I'm bringing is deep-rooted self-loathing.
00:19:50And...
00:19:51Being a huge f***hole.
00:19:54I am Boston's pin-up princess.
00:19:56I'm, like, the it girl of any time or place.
00:19:58The thing about Briar Blush is that her drag is timeless, retro-feeling, but modern.
00:20:04It's like...
00:20:05I exist on my own timeline of history.
00:20:10Okay, so there was a really beautiful doll photographer-artist.
00:20:14And she had a doll named Briar that she would photograph.
00:20:17And I thought that name was so f***trous mother.
00:20:20And I just liked that it was androgynous.
00:20:23Beautiful girls with androgynous names to me are, like, really, really c***y.
00:20:27I love that vibe.
00:20:28I consider myself a creative.
00:20:31And my style comes from everything that is really important to me.
00:20:36I was really goth as a teenager.
00:20:37I was really into Turner Classic movies.
00:20:39I was really into people like Dita Von Teese, Nancy Sinatra.
00:20:43Love Jane Birkin.
00:20:45Love Sophia Loren.
00:20:46Love Priscilla Presley.
00:20:47Duh.
00:20:48And all those things kind of congealed into the life form that I am.
00:20:51So Briar's not alternative.
00:20:54She's not not alternative.
00:20:55I'll put it that way.
00:20:56I remember really early into my drag career, I performed some whack goth song at a hip-hop night.
00:21:01Made a total of $3.
00:21:03And I was like, damn, I can't even get a Wendy's 4 for 4.
00:21:07And this other girl in the dressing room hands me another dollar and goes,
00:21:10Here, that's my tip for you.
00:21:11Now you can get one.
00:21:12Isn't that beautiful?
00:21:13I was so shocked that she felt bad and gave me a dollar.
00:21:17I love horror movies.
00:21:19Body horror, but I also like suspense.
00:21:20Like I was a fan of the original Nosferatu and the French version.
00:21:24I've seen all of them and I loved them.
00:21:26Actually, I will say the new Nosferatu, he was so hot.
00:21:30They gave him like too much sex appeal, to be honest.
00:21:336'7", like tall mustache, deep voice, has a property, clearly has money to spend.
00:21:39But can I tell you something?
00:21:40Sometimes when guys are so tall, like when they're like hit like 6'4 and above,
00:21:44they start to slouch in a way that's like kind of hot to me.
00:21:48Cause you're like, oh, you're so tall.
00:21:49Like, oh, that must be so .
00:21:50I'm like 5'5".
00:21:51So it's like...
00:21:57There is nothing anybody could ever say to me that would throw me off,
00:22:00like of how I feel about myself.
00:22:02It's a double edged sword that I both don't care what anyone says,
00:22:06but I also don't care at all.
00:22:07Like, and it's like sometimes becomes a problem.
00:22:10My big one, sure, I'll do my big one.
00:22:12Why the hell not?
00:22:14Why the hell not?
00:22:16I'm America's next drag superstar, because...
00:22:22I claim it as my destiny.
00:22:26Caught that.
00:22:27Oh, um, my signature scent is definitely mozzarella sticks with ranch.
00:22:32I may smell good during the number, but you're probably going to recognize the smell of mozzarella sticks.
00:22:42My name is Sierra Miss, and I'm the shape-shifting superstar of Indianapolis, Indiana.
00:22:47Indiana is known for bad politics and a lot of corn.
00:22:51So I'm leaving those at home and I'm bringing good drag and creativity to the competition.
00:22:56I don't think that the culture from Indiana influences my drag tastes or aesthetic necessarily.
00:23:02Those are rooted really in like my childhood love, superheroes, comic books, sci-fi, fantasy,
00:23:08all of the things that I would draw as a kid.
00:23:13I don't know. I am pretty strange.
00:23:15So like picking the strangest thing is really weird.
00:23:18Um, I think Tony the Tiger is attractive.
00:23:23Um, I am going on 32 years old and I still love Power Rangers.
00:23:28I mean, I'm a sucker for the classics because I'm a millennial.
00:23:31I realized I was different when I had a crush on both Kimberly and Tommy.
00:23:35But I think that In Space for Lost Galaxy, for the nerds out there, those are kind of like fabulous
00:23:41seasons, second to Mighty Morphin.
00:23:43Uh, so are we talking Tommy Green or Tommy White?
00:23:45Um, I mean, Tommy Green is the bad boy, but Tommy White is like so fierce.
00:23:50When he comes down from the ceiling and like the ray of light, that's drag.
00:23:54That's drag.
00:23:56And then they were like, they shared a Zord together.
00:23:59And I was like, that's kind of hot.
00:24:00Off camera.
00:24:02In drag, I embody every comic book superhero that I ever had a crush on.
00:24:08I am X-Men characters.
00:24:10I am just jumping out of the pages of a comic book.
00:24:13I get to be that superhero badass strong woman who is both feminine, sexy, soft, but also could absolutely beat
00:24:21your ass.
00:24:22Will I do my big one?
00:24:24Um, like in the toilet?
00:24:28Um, sure.
00:24:29I'll do my big one.
00:24:30Yeah, why not?
00:24:32Okay, girls.
00:24:33Yeah, move aside.
00:24:33I'll do my big one.
00:24:34Will I do my big one this season?
00:24:36I'll do my huge one.
00:24:41I am America's next drag superstar because not only does she have to look good and I look incredible, she
00:24:49has to have something important to say.
00:24:51Life is chaotic and crazy and this world is messed up right now.
00:24:55And we as a country, as a people, as a queer community deserve a drag superstar who is not only
00:25:03fierce, who is not only wonderful to look at, but can champion equality, diversity and stand up to all of
00:25:11the up that's happening in this world.
00:25:13We need a superhero and Sierra Mist is your superhero.
00:25:24I will not be shablamming or twirling around the stage anytime soon.
00:25:28Oh, you're not shablamming.
00:25:30Oh, no.
00:25:30That's a long way down, girl.
00:25:36I'm Darlene Mitchell and I'm from Los Angeles, California.
00:25:39I was born and raised in a small town in Indiana, actually, so I'm a transplant.
00:25:44How I describe myself is a little country, a little and a whole lot of camp because I definitely like
00:25:50to include this like Midwestern country like through line.
00:25:54Darlene's aesthetic is very like boxed wine cigarette after cigarette.
00:25:58You know what I mean?
00:25:59Like very much that woman.
00:26:00And I'm kind of like the exact opposite of that.
00:26:03When they find out that I'm like a long time sober and like pretty chill and easy, you know, easy
00:26:08to get along with and pretty sweet that they're kind of like, whoa, this is a turn.
00:26:15The very first song that I ever performed to was Rihanna, S&M.
00:26:20I was the door girl for free on a Tuesday.
00:26:24They were like, do you know what?
00:26:26Like, do you want to like do a number?
00:26:28And I'm like, yeah, for these five people.
00:26:30So I was like, you know what?
00:26:31S&M, hit it.
00:26:32I had the time of my life.
00:26:34Oh, my biggest inspiration.
00:26:36My favorite person in the entire world is Dolly Parton.
00:26:40I have a Dolly Parton shower curtain.
00:26:43I'm engaged.
00:26:45Is Dollywood the honeymoon?
00:26:46I don't know.
00:26:47We'll see.
00:26:49Bring back more mall drag.
00:26:51These designers, get them out of here.
00:26:54Bring back the $5 bin.
00:26:56I want the iddiest, bittiest, little slutty jeans skirt.
00:27:00You know, little spaghetti strap tank top.
00:27:03Give me a little butterfly necklace.
00:27:06You know, 95% alcohol perfume.
00:27:09Like, I want the dollar store on heels.
00:27:13Give me mall drag.
00:27:14One trend that I feel like I would definitely have to chop
00:27:16is the rock hard solid sculpted wigs with the rhinestones all over.
00:27:21Chop.
00:27:22Even though I might own a couple.
00:27:26See, here's the thing.
00:27:28I don't know if I suffer from drag delusion.
00:27:30I'm aware that some of my tastes, you know, are not popular among the room.
00:27:35But I'm not saying that it's, you know, the best or that it is, you know, better than anyone else's.
00:27:42It's just, I'm sticking to my guns, you know?
00:27:44Like, I feel very glamorous in this $5 thong and tank top.
00:27:48Like, in hard front mullet.
00:27:50Like, I'm sorry you don't think so, but it's not stopping me.
00:27:56This season, I am doing the big one.
00:27:59You're going to see Darlene Mitchell all the way to the end, honey.
00:28:03We are taking that crown and we are doing it in a pair of jean shorts.
00:28:09And we're going to go back to that mall drag.
00:28:11Mall drag taking over the world.
00:28:13I'm America's Next Dark Superstar because I feel like I offer a fresh perspective.
00:28:18You know what I mean?
00:28:19And it's time to shake it up.
00:28:20Let people know that this is something that is fun and it's self-expression.
00:28:25And it's just pedal to the metal.
00:28:27Like, I'm just like ready to rock and roll.
00:28:30Oh my God, I can say whatever I want.
00:28:32I can just lie about who I am.
00:28:34I've been doing drag for 15 years and I am the most beautiful woman on earth.
00:28:39Are we playing Two Truths and a Lie now?
00:28:41I'm a virgin.
00:28:42No!
00:28:47Hola, I am Didi Fuego and I am from Monterrey, Mexico.
00:28:52But I currently live in New York City.
00:28:54Should I do it in Spanish?
00:29:00That is so stupid.
00:29:03I am bringing the high excellence in talent from New York City.
00:29:09New York is a hard seeder to make it in.
00:29:12And I've made it.
00:29:14Oh my God, I think I just found my light.
00:29:18Didi Fuego is fashionable.
00:29:21She is beautiful.
00:29:23She is stupid.
00:29:25And she's very handsome.
00:29:30I make my mixes.
00:29:31I make my clothes.
00:29:32I didn't make all of this, but I'm involved.
00:29:35Because I am what?
00:29:36Too poor to hire anyone.
00:29:39So in this competition, what's going to help me the most is that I can do everything.
00:29:44I'm not saying I'm 10s across the board, but I'm like a nice 7.5s at everything.
00:29:50I can give you talents of all kinds, makings of all kinds.
00:29:55And there's nothing I can do badly except maybe like, like throw a ball.
00:29:59Cause I have like a weird arm thing.
00:30:01From birth.
00:30:03Like I can't connect this arm to my body without hurting.
00:30:06Like I just can't.
00:30:08And I can't like open my arms.
00:30:10Like I'd be a really bad like server and be like.
00:30:13That's like as far as it goes.
00:30:16Do I have any hidden talents?
00:30:18No, if I have a talent, I am going to monetize it.
00:30:21I can dance fine.
00:30:22And I can also give you a little comedy.
00:30:23And what I usually do is I'll have a reveal or two or three.
00:30:26So while the girl is doing the split, which we've seen before.
00:30:30Didi Fuego is pulling out all the stops elsewhere.
00:30:33She's a production, honey.
00:30:34My fan base.
00:30:36Oof.
00:30:37I have so many tens of them.
00:30:39Do they have a name?
00:30:40I don't know.
00:30:40We should come up with one.
00:30:41Like my Flamers.
00:30:44My Fuegitos.
00:30:46Didi's BB.
00:30:47I need to work on them.
00:30:49As soon as I get fans, I'll let you know what they're called.
00:30:51So far they're called my mom, my dad.
00:30:55I'll have to find a name for them when there's more than four.
00:30:57I'm America's next drag superstar because I am Mexican, American, queer,
00:31:04Middle Eastern, and from New York.
00:31:06I am the president's worst nightmare.
00:31:09And I look like one of his future wives.
00:31:11But America needs someone like me to bring us together.
00:31:14To set the record straight.
00:31:16If you are rooting for me, you are rooting for America.
00:31:19Crown the Latina.
00:31:22La corona será mia.
00:31:23Mia!
00:31:24Also, you know, because I have big teeth, a small waist, and small eyes.
00:31:31So I'm ready to go.
00:31:33I already have my all-stars teeth, but I'm not planning on going.
00:31:35I'm going to win this one.
00:31:40I might have been born just plain white trash, but Fancy was my name.
00:31:45What is that from?
00:31:46Fancy by Reba McIntyre.
00:31:48You've heard that song.
00:31:50You've heard Reba.
00:31:51You know her.
00:31:55Fancy by Reba McIntyre.
00:31:58Hi, I'm Discord Adams.
00:31:59I'm from St. Pete, Florida.
00:32:01It's hard to say because I grew up doing drag in Ohio, and then I moved to Chicago.
00:32:05And then I moved to St. Pete.
00:32:06So, I'm just kind of bringing discord to the show.
00:32:10I'm not really bringing like a specific,
00:32:11you know, city type of representation to the show,
00:32:14I wouldn't say.
00:32:14I would describe myself as a high fashion,
00:32:17punk rock maximalist.
00:32:18I want to wear everything.
00:32:22If you haven't noticed, I always say like,
00:32:25when I look in the mirror, instead of taking one thing off,
00:32:27I want to put on two more necklaces
00:32:29and like three more bracelets.
00:32:30I want it to look like if a transformer was a church.
00:32:35Like I'm a church that's on fire,
00:32:37but I'm like a human.
00:32:38Who's to say?
00:32:40I would say growing up,
00:32:41there was a really big punk scene where I lived.
00:32:44So throughout high school and all of that,
00:32:45I was really involved in going to shows.
00:32:48In the punk scene, it's all very DIY.
00:32:50So you're making your jackets, making your clothes.
00:32:52You can see a lot of the music that I listened to
00:32:55in my drag style.
00:32:57The Dead Kennedys, Rancid, the Sex Pistols,
00:33:00a little bit of classic rocks like Aerosmith.
00:33:02I channel like a mixture between like Lady Gaga
00:33:04and Mick Jagger.
00:33:05The first song I ever performed in drag
00:33:07was Teeth by Lady Gaga.
00:33:10I looked like, my makeup was far too pale.
00:33:13I looked like a zombie Cher stomping around
00:33:17in a bra and panties.
00:33:19I felt fierce, but like when you look back on it,
00:33:21it's very funny.
00:33:22I'm just weird.
00:33:24I can't touch velvet.
00:33:26If I touch velvet, my fingers cry.
00:33:29And then I have to like lick them to like reset the feeling.
00:33:33That way I don't feel the velvet anymore.
00:33:35It makes my fingers feel like dry.
00:33:36Like it's sucking all the moisture out of them or something.
00:33:39Similar to like microfiber.
00:33:40I don't want to touch that either.
00:33:41I don't know.
00:33:42Ask my fingers.
00:33:43Not me.
00:33:43I would love to be able to put on a velvet dress.
00:33:45It's just awful.
00:33:48If I could bring back one trend in drag,
00:33:50it should be makeup.
00:33:51The girls stopped wearing makeup for a while.
00:33:53We need more blush, more eyeliner, more lip liner.
00:33:57Like we're drag queens.
00:33:59Like look like a drag queen.
00:34:00What is trending right now in drag?
00:34:03I think we're on the right track right now.
00:34:05I think, oh, but like, I think like if you want to wear nothing,
00:34:08at least make it look good.
00:34:10But I hate when the girls just like tie like a shoestring
00:34:12around their nipples and they're like,
00:34:13look how fierce I look, it's like, no, like put,
00:34:17put on some stuff.
00:34:19Will you do your big one this season?
00:34:21My what?
00:34:22Will you do your big one?
00:34:23What's that mean?
00:34:26Um, okay.
00:34:28Yeah, I'm absolutely gonna have my big one this season.
00:34:30I mean, look how fierce I look.
00:34:32Hello.
00:34:33I'm America's next drag superstar
00:34:34because I am bringing punk rock to the main stage.
00:34:38I am bringing a sense of fashion
00:34:40that the girls have not seen before.
00:34:43And I just want to be an advocate for like the underdog
00:34:47and an advocate for people who are getting treated poorly
00:34:50in this country.
00:34:52We need drag queens who are going to say more
00:34:54about what's happening instead of saying less.
00:34:56Oh yeah, get the fog in there.
00:34:58Really cover up that skin texture, baby.
00:35:00Oh yeah, baby.
00:35:01I want it to look like you're seeing me,
00:35:04like you just took a fat vape rip.
00:35:08That's, that's where I look my best.
00:35:14Hi, my name is Jane Don't.
00:35:16I'm 32 and I am from beautiful Seattle, Washington.
00:35:20What is drag like in Seattle?
00:35:23Um, really good.
00:35:24I don't know.
00:35:25I feel like we're having like a Seattle moment.
00:35:27You know, my sisters Bosco and Irene just came through
00:35:30and stormed all stars.
00:35:32Irene and Bosco are two of my best friends
00:35:34and, um, two of my mortal enemies.
00:35:38Historically, alternative drag is kind of the thing in Seattle.
00:35:42Like that's, I started as like a real weirdo.
00:35:43Not like now where I'm a beautiful glamorous woman.
00:35:46I think I'm, I'm standing in that legacy very strong.
00:35:48I'm a lawyer by day.
00:35:50I have a nine to five.
00:35:51I'm a wife, a mother, a woman of God.
00:35:54Um, but there is something wrong with me, clearly.
00:35:59Ah, you know, here's the thing about my drag name.
00:36:02It's not that fun of a story.
00:36:03I just used to smoke a lot of weed in college.
00:36:05I don't do that anymore because I get too scared.
00:36:08I think legal weed is way too strong.
00:36:10One time while I was really high,
00:36:11I just thought of the name Jane Don't.
00:36:12And I was like, if I ever do drag, that's the name.
00:36:15And I literally, I've never thought of like another drag.
00:36:17Like it, it really, it was that.
00:36:19That was my great American novel.
00:36:20It was that, it was a beautiful burst of creativity.
00:36:22And ever since then, I've been extremely, um, yeah,
00:36:26just, just boring sort of flat from there.
00:36:29Never come up with anything else.
00:36:30What did you think when you first saw Lane Jane?
00:36:32I am the first Jane, she's plain.
00:36:33I understand that naturally you don't want to call her plain
00:36:35because it's a crazy name, but that's not my problem.
00:36:38But also I would get her hate mail online sometimes.
00:36:41Like people would tag me on tweets and stuff.
00:36:43And I'm just, you know, I'm at brunch, minding my business.
00:36:48What kind of drag do I do?
00:36:49I want to say conceptual,
00:36:51but I feel like when you say you're conceptual,
00:36:53people just like think you're going to kind of look ugly.
00:36:55So, uh, just good.
00:36:57Can I say good?
00:36:58I do good drag and, and sexy drag.
00:37:04Hot.
00:37:05You got to right now.
00:37:06What's your signature scent in drag?
00:37:09Oh my God. What a good question.
00:37:10Is this new?
00:37:11First of all, half these bitches do not have a signature scent.
00:37:14I think I might have brought the most perfume
00:37:16to the competition.
00:37:17My signature scent, it's, it's by a,
00:37:19I'm going to be a douche bag again. Sorry.
00:37:23It's, uh, it's called Ode Protection.
00:37:25So the like top notes are really floral.
00:37:28It's like jasmine.
00:37:29There's a blood accord, which is like synthetic blood smell.
00:37:32Civet.
00:37:33Or like animalistics in fragrance.
00:37:35You smell like a really, so she was like, I'm really wealthy.
00:37:38I bought it for her.
00:37:39I love fragrance.
00:37:40I will talk about fragrance.
00:37:41Like we could do, we could do two hours on that alone.
00:37:43Will I do my big one this season?
00:37:45Yeah.
00:37:46Why not?
00:37:47That could be fun.
00:37:49That's like what the kids are saying, right?
00:37:50They're doing, yeah.
00:37:51What is, what is, what is, what would be like the definition of doing your big one?
00:37:55Having an impactful moment.
00:37:57Oh, I'm, I'm going to have several of those.
00:37:59I am America's Next Drag Superstar because I think that it's time that, um, a nice lady
00:38:07was crowned.
00:38:08Let's do our big one.
00:38:10I can put my leg behind my head, but I actually physically just can't show you right now.
00:38:15I can't show you that I can do that.
00:38:17Just believe that I can put my leg behind my head.
00:38:20I can believe that.
00:38:20You can believe that?
00:38:22You think I'm flexible?
00:38:23Oh.
00:38:28My name is Juicy Love Dion, and I'm from Miami, Florida.
00:38:33The only special part of Florida, South Florida, best part of Florida, and you can tell I'm
00:38:38I said that.
00:38:41One of my drag mothers is here.
00:38:43My drag grandmother.
00:38:45She hates when I say that, so I won't say it too loud.
00:38:48My name is Athena Dion.
00:38:49She is also the mother of Morphine Love Dion, who is also my mother.
00:38:53The family tree is, like, all over the place, okay?
00:38:55It all started back in the day.
00:38:57I was a senior in high school, and Morphine Love just scooped me up and said, you're going
00:39:02to be in my next drag number.
00:39:04Snuck me into the club.
00:39:06From that day I was born, and then she introduced me to Athena, and Athena was like, okay, Morphine.
00:39:11It's like when someone has a kid too young and grandma has to take care, but then grandma
00:39:16becomes a mama.
00:39:17Exactly.
00:39:19I feel like I'm very, like, Latina.
00:39:21I give you, like, all that Latina sexiness, vibe, the beauty, the gorgeous space, but
00:39:27mix in like a little club kid, androgyny, always playing on that line of, like, you know, abstract,
00:39:33but still and sexy.
00:39:35I used to be very, very, very, very, like, punk, always in black latex, red latex, but
00:39:41now I'm going more, like, couture.
00:39:43I want to feel more elegant.
00:39:45I had someone say to me one time, a gorgeous older Greek man, say, you are not punk.
00:39:50You are gorgeous.
00:39:51You are elegant.
00:39:52You are elegant.
00:39:52And I have had those words in my head forever, so I'm sticking to it.
00:39:56I'm sticking to that gorgeous, elegant poise, but with a little twist, you know?
00:40:04Mmm.
00:40:05YSL East Saint Laurent Libre.
00:40:09That is, like, mwah.
00:40:13That smell is me in drag.
00:40:15It smells like a princess.
00:40:17It smells like maybe I was just with my boyfriend and my perfume and his cologne mixed.
00:40:23Libre is, yeah, it's that girl.
00:40:28It's that scent.
00:40:29It smells like me.
00:40:30Smell Libre and you'll smell juicy.
00:40:35Okay, what's the strangest thing about this?
00:40:38Strange?
00:40:39I don't know.
00:40:40I don't think I'm strange.
00:40:42I'm not like Briar.
00:40:43Briar's very strange.
00:40:44Briar's a very strange individual.
00:40:47Okay, clock it.
00:40:48You'll see.
00:40:49One time she did come up to me, she goes, smell my finger.
00:40:54Listen, I had to go.
00:40:57One trend I would like to get rid of.
00:40:59Mono booty.
00:41:00Yes, you're padded, but if you don't have an ass crack in pads, I'm sorry.
00:41:03It looks crazy.
00:41:05It's one butt and you have a G-string on and there's no indentation.
00:41:09That is criminal.
00:41:12Baby, I've been doing my big one.
00:41:15I'll do my big one.
00:41:16I'll do my big one and then I'll do it again.
00:41:18I am America's next drag superstar because you've never had a girl this sickening and gorgeous
00:41:27and stupid and funny and with this much of a lack of references and this good of a dancer
00:41:37and this Latina and this Cuban before.
00:41:44My God, I improvised it.
00:41:46I'm an improv queen, actually.
00:41:48I'm really good at improv.
00:41:51I think I have a very good voice.
00:41:54Like, I have a really good announcer voice.
00:41:55So I can really project my voice like, are you ready drag fans?
00:41:59Let's do this.
00:42:00I'm doing Meet the Queens here on season 18 of RuPaul's Drag Race.
00:42:04Tune in only on MTV.
00:42:07Yeah.
00:42:08I see that I'm like a Barry White mixed with Lizzo.
00:42:10I love that.
00:42:15I am Kenya Pleaser all the way from South Carolina, bitch.
00:42:19South Pack and Lackey, bitch.
00:42:21They are going to gag to see my ass on this show.
00:42:24That's that little boy from the church.
00:42:27That is going to be crazy.
00:42:28It's going to be crazy.
00:42:29Hey.
00:42:30Mwah.
00:42:31The number one trait from South Carolina that I'm bringing is my humbleness.
00:42:35Being from the South, bitch, you always have to be humble.
00:42:38Because that's the only way you are going to succeed in life.
00:42:41If you're not humble, bitch, you won't get .
00:42:43You all what you eat.
00:42:46And I eat kindness.
00:42:49The drag that I do is...
00:42:51I was about to lie, bitch.
00:42:53I was about to say it's big.
00:42:53Bitch, I'm big.
00:42:54No, it's sexy and it could be your auntie at the same time.
00:42:57Very much that type of tea.
00:42:58And I like older things like the 80s, 90s, different things like that.
00:43:02And I love to mix everything into one and cultivate it with old school dreams.
00:43:05It's like a drag that meets new school.
00:43:07It's like I'm decked under my jewelry and everything.
00:43:09And I got my little brothel outfit on.
00:43:11Like a little whore house in Texas.
00:43:13But it's still sexy, you know?
00:43:15Honey, one thing that you can get and bet your bottom dollar...
00:43:19Bottom.
00:43:20From Kenya Pleaser is, bitch, I'm going to kick that mother leg until it touches my forehead, honey.
00:43:25My leg could go, oh.
00:43:27Oh .
00:43:28And just imagine a big girl doing that.
00:43:30It's like a gag.
00:43:32If someone wants to play me in a movie, I want it to be Shirley Ralph.
00:43:35I don't want them to do CGI like they did Will Smith in that one movie.
00:43:38I want Shirley Ralph to play me right now.
00:43:41Singing does not pay the bills.
00:43:43I want that Shirley Ralph to play me, bitch.
00:43:46That's from Sister Act.
00:43:46I know some of you white bitches don't know that.
00:43:48So, Kenya Pleaser is so stupid.
00:43:50I want it to have a pun name because I think it's funny when a really sexy girl has like
00:43:53a campy name.
00:43:54So, I was like, oh my god, can you feel your beats?
00:43:57Can you do this?
00:43:58Can you do that?
00:43:58Can you do that?
00:43:59Can you take it?
00:44:00Can you take her?
00:44:01And I was like, wait.
00:44:02Pleaser.
00:44:03Can you please her?
00:44:05Can you please her?
00:44:06And do you know people don't get my name when they first hear it?
00:44:09I'm like, bitch, what?
00:44:12Will you do your big one this season?
00:44:14My big one?
00:44:15Bitch, I am the big one, honey.
00:44:18In the words of Mistress Isabelle Brooks, do your big one to me, bitch.
00:44:21I think I am.
00:44:22I really think I'm bringing something to this competition that the world has never seen.
00:44:26The Pleaser experience.
00:44:28The Pleaser effect is in full motion, darling.
00:44:30I am America's next drag superstar because I represent all those little plus size chunky dark skin boys from small
00:44:39country towns that never had a chance to see yourself on television, honey.
00:44:43Those boys who you thought you would never leave your hometown, you will always be up under your mothers and
00:44:49grandmothers and going to church and doing bullsh** and you want to just be fabulous and gay.
00:44:53I am America's next drag superstar because I represent those people, honey.
00:44:58I represent the black community.
00:45:00Every time I cinch my fat ass into this corset, I bat my eyelashes.
00:45:05It is a political statement and that's why me, Kenya Pleaser, should be the next drag superstar.
00:45:15My signature move.
00:45:17Um, sometimes I like to do this thing where I lift my leg up and then I like to twirl
00:45:21my foot and I do a little kick.
00:45:23It doesn't really look cute right now, but I promise you, with legs like these, it will look cute.
00:45:32My name is Mandy Mango and the sweetest fruit in Philadelphia.
00:45:36The drag scene in Philadelphia is very diverse, very eclectic.
00:45:40We have our teeny boppers.
00:45:42We have our mama whoppers.
00:45:44We have some flippity floppers and some daddy toppers.
00:45:47The mango part is inspired off the carabao, which is the Filipino mango, which has recently ranked the sweetest mango
00:45:55in the world.
00:45:56So I think that says a lot about me.
00:45:58I'm also fruity.
00:46:00I'm Filipina and I'm not genetically modified.
00:46:04I'm a first generation Filipino American.
00:46:07Growing up has always been strange trying to figure out if I'm Filipino enough, American enough or not enough either
00:46:14on top of being queer.
00:46:17So drag has really guided my journey in understanding my identity.
00:46:21My biggest drag inspiration, I would say, would be my mom.
00:46:25My mom was a pageant queen in the Philippines.
00:46:28She won best evening gown in Miss Baguio, Philippines, 1987.
00:46:32And I think she should have took the crown, but that's fine.
00:46:35We'll talk about that another time.
00:46:36I would say Mandy was born with my first drag show in college.
00:46:40I performed to Took the Night by Chelly.
00:46:43She won the show and she clearly took the night.
00:46:46The strangest thing about me.
00:46:49I don't like to eat oranges and I've never peeled an orange.
00:46:52Some people don't believe me and they think that's strange.
00:46:56I have eaten an orange and I didn't really like it.
00:47:00So then I just stopped trying.
00:47:02It just looked like a dollar effort anyways.
00:47:03So I was like, I'm not going to eat that.
00:47:06I'll stick to my mangoes.
00:47:07Do you just literally start peeling the skin with your fingers and your nails?
00:47:11Do you need to have nails to do this?
00:47:12I can't do anything with these.
00:47:15I can't type on my phone.
00:47:16I can't wipe my butt.
00:47:18It looks really pretty, I know, but there's things I need to do.
00:47:22And I'm a woman who likes to do a lot of things.
00:47:24So nails sometimes get in the way.
00:47:25I also work as a registered nurse in HIV and sexual health.
00:47:29I can do venipunctures.
00:47:31I can do liver elastography.
00:47:33I can do head to toe assessments.
00:47:35I can do subcutaneous intramuscular injections, subdermal vaccines.
00:47:42I have a lot of talents and skills, some might say.
00:47:48Oh, you want to see my big one?
00:47:50You want to see the big one?
00:47:51What other opportunity than to bring the big one for season 18 of RuPaul's Drag Race, okay?
00:47:58I am America's next drag superstar because I'm sweet, I'm smart, I'm sexy, and I'm credentialed.
00:48:06I might be a part-time entertainer, but I'm a full-time drag queen.
00:48:11And if you think that the responsibility of a drag queen ends at the four walls of a venue,
00:48:16then you are mistaken.
00:48:17I make sure that I advocate for my community in and out of a show, in and out of the
00:48:23clinic,
00:48:23because as crew people we have lives that we celebrate, lives that we get sad about,
00:48:29lives that we laugh about.
00:48:30And I want to take care of that for our community.
00:48:35Every time I could get into drag, I am my mother.
00:48:39I look at the mirror, I'm like, oh shit, I'm my mom.
00:48:41It's so funny.
00:48:42And the older that I'm getting, I'm acting like her a lot more as well.
00:48:47And it pisses me off.
00:48:53My name is Mia Star, and I am from West Palm Beach, Florida.
00:48:57West Palm Beach.
00:48:59I bring choreography.
00:49:02I am a dancer queen, hip-hop dancer queen.
00:49:07That is me.
00:49:08Not so much on the technicality side.
00:49:10Not the ballet stuff.
00:49:12Like real hood hip-hop stuff.
00:49:15My style is very urban.
00:49:17It's very slutty.
00:49:20I'm a whore.
00:49:22I love to sing.
00:49:24I am a singer first.
00:49:26Like I did do a gospel album back in 2018.
00:49:29I released it.
00:49:31It's, yeah, I love singing.
00:49:33I don't do it as often now, but that's like where my heart and soul is.
00:49:38That's my first love.
00:49:41To be honest, I started in 2008 and I took a 14 and a half year break.
00:49:48I moved to Los Angeles to pursue dancing.
00:49:51I was able to perform and go on world tours with Britney Spears for her Vegas residency.
00:49:57Paulina Rubio.
00:49:58I've been on tour with Rihanna, her loud tour in 2011.
00:50:01I'm showing my age.
00:50:03I've been on tour with Camila Cabello.
00:50:05I'm actually the lead dancer in her Havana video.
00:50:10So I'm like the Mr. Havana himself.
00:50:15Spoiler alert!
00:50:18We're a woman now.
00:50:21Whoa!
00:50:22So yes, it's changed so much, but it's really cool to be able to come back with all the knowledge
00:50:29that I've learned from the greatest of the greats and now apply that to myself.
00:50:34I think what's going to help me the most is just being myself.
00:50:37I can't, you know, look to the left and right and be like, well, damn, I don't have that.
00:50:41Not to say I don't do it, but I, you know, I try not to do it as often as
00:50:46I see Athena Dion do it.
00:50:50The strangest thing about me is I curl my toes when I sleep.
00:50:56My boyfriend just told me that.
00:50:58I don't know why, but I crunch my toes all the time.
00:51:02He's like, stop crunching your toes.
00:51:04My signature scent in drag is a body mist from Bath & Body Works.
00:51:10You can get three for three.
00:51:11It is amazing.
00:51:14Listen, I know girls, they make fun of me, but anytime I walk into a room, people, they give me
00:51:19compliments about it.
00:51:20It's called something gorgeous, like gingham gorgeous something.
00:51:26I don't know.
00:51:27Look, I just look for the three for threes.
00:51:30I am going to do my big one this season.
00:51:33No matter who is in my way, y'all gotta go.
00:51:36I am America's next track superstar because I am a bad bitch.
00:51:42Okay.
00:51:44Oh, who is my biggest inspiration?
00:51:47I do think Sasha Colby is a really big inspiration.
00:51:49I mean, to me, she's drag excellence and Spongebob.
00:51:56Hi, I'm Mikey Meeks and I'm from the city beautiful Orlando, Florida.
00:52:07My keys.
00:52:07Get it?
00:52:09My keys.
00:52:10Okay.
00:52:12Highbrow comedy here.
00:52:13The doors I've opened.
00:52:16Please take these cat toys out of my hand.
00:52:18Mikey is my real name.
00:52:20I just spell it more androgynous.
00:52:22And I thought I spelled it phonetically because I spell it the normal way out of drag.
00:52:26In drag, it's M-Y-K-I.
00:52:28But people still don't know how to say it.
00:52:30But it's Mikey, right?
00:52:31Not Mickey.
00:52:32Not Meeky.
00:52:32And then Meeks is a nickname that my best friends gave me.
00:52:35So I assume my own nickname is put together.
00:52:36Mikey Meeks, honey.
00:52:38My full legal drag name is Dr. Michaela Meekerson.
00:52:42MD.
00:52:44And the MD stands for mental disorder.
00:52:49I think of myself as a dynamic theatrical powerhouse.
00:52:54I do a little bit of everything.
00:52:56Theater is my upbringing.
00:52:57I call myself a recovering theater girl.
00:53:00Because that trauma is in the past.
00:53:01But I love going for old Hollywood glamour mixed with a little bit of party girl.
00:53:05So I'm a cross between Ava Gardner and Charlie X.
00:53:11I think my gut instinct will help me the most.
00:53:15It's gotten me this far.
00:53:16I've always kind of had my eyes on the goal and I get what I want.
00:53:20And that's not me being cocky.
00:53:22That's just I know what I can do and I know what I'm worth.
00:53:25So I just got to keep that and listen to it.
00:53:27Hidden talent.
00:53:29No, I'm very obnoxious and I show all my talents.
00:53:32But very good at Super Smash Brothers.
00:53:34Is that a hidden talent?
00:53:36What's the strangest thing about you?
00:53:38Ooh, I tend to like...
00:53:42The queens call it powering down.
00:53:45So like when I'm overstimulated or I'm just like deep in thought,
00:53:48I look like someone hit my off switch.
00:53:50I'm just like...
00:53:53The girls will be like, oh, Mikey's down.
00:53:54Mikey, power up.
00:53:55You're powering down.
00:53:55Power back up.
00:53:56Power back up.
00:53:57I think we all suffer from drag delusion.
00:53:59I think drag delusion is a spectrum and we're all on that spectrum.
00:54:02Okay?
00:54:03Because I'm sure I'm going to look back a year from now and be like,
00:54:05oop, that's a boot.
00:54:06Like that's a miss.
00:54:07I missed something there.
00:54:08But as for my confidence...
00:54:11No.
00:54:13But as for my aesthetic...
00:54:15Probably.
00:54:16Will you do your big one this season?
00:54:18Oh my...
00:54:18What the f***?
00:54:21Mistress Isabel Brooks write this question?
00:54:24Am I going to do my big one this season?
00:54:25Of course!
00:54:27I'm looking for a big one after this.
00:54:30Do your big one, honey.
00:54:31I am America's next drag superstar because I know my star potential is ready for that next level.
00:54:39I have a whole city of people chanting my name.
00:54:43I hope to make them proud and hopefully a whole new legion of people to impress as well.
00:54:49Honestly, I know everything about me and there's nothing else you can tell me.
00:54:52I'm not delusional.
00:54:53I'm trying to be more delusional.
00:54:55I'm trying to be like, no, I am the greatest thing.
00:54:59You can't tell me anything.
00:55:00To me...
00:55:02What was the question?
00:55:09Hi, my name is Nene Coco.
00:55:11I am 29 and I am from Denver, Colorado.
00:55:15So Nene Coco is not a complicated name at all.
00:55:19It comes from my out of drag name.
00:55:20My out of drag name is Nico Nene Coco.
00:55:24It was very simple.
00:55:25I feel like my drag is an extension of my out of drag self.
00:55:29It's not this completely different persona.
00:55:30So it feels really close to who I am and who I've always been.
00:55:34I love super sharp, super colorful, very bold silhouettes.
00:55:39Everything that I wear has to be sparkling and shining.
00:55:41That is my drag queen must have is a rhinestone.
00:55:45I love drag that catches the light, gets your attention from the back of the room.
00:55:50So it's striking.
00:55:51It's graphic lines.
00:55:52It's kind of this 2D illustration just brought to life.
00:55:56The first song I ever performed was Aura by Lady Gaga.
00:55:59I was feeling the fantasy.
00:56:01I felt so fierce.
00:56:02I auditioned for this competition with that Lady Gaga song.
00:56:05And three months later, I won the whole thing.
00:56:08I killed it.
00:56:09I made all these other bitches mad.
00:56:10And I had been incubating in the bedroom a little bit before that.
00:56:13So performing on a stage, two and a half years.
00:56:16But experimenting with makeup and learning to sew, I started doing earlier in the pandemic.
00:56:20But, you know, how long you've been in drag is no measure of the talent and skill and things that
00:56:27you can do.
00:56:28So, you know, when I was in elementary school, I was the fastest cup stacker in the entire elementary school.
00:56:37You know about cup stacking?
00:56:38The 3-6-3, the 6-6, the 1-10-1?
00:56:41The full cycle?
00:56:41Girl!
00:56:42I won a little thing of cups at my elementary school for being the fastest in the fourth grade.
00:56:47And then I won another thing of cups for being the fastest in the entire elementary school.
00:56:51None of these bitches stand a chance when I get my hands on some cups.
00:56:55Okay?
00:56:56Oh!
00:56:56That's my hidden talent for sure.
00:56:59Up until the day I walked into this place, I was a mechanical engineer.
00:57:04That was my thing.
00:57:05I went to college for engineering.
00:57:08Got a job.
00:57:10Super exciting.
00:57:11Super inspiring.
00:57:13Secret Smarty!
00:57:14Girl!
00:57:15Honestly, I hope I don't have a signature.
00:57:16I hope I don't smell like anything.
00:57:18My signature scent is no scent at all.
00:57:20You don't need to smell a thing when I walk by.
00:57:22You don't need to smell me.
00:57:23You can see me.
00:57:24You can touch me.
00:57:26Don't smell me.
00:57:27That is not part of my flavor profile of drag.
00:57:30You don't need to smell.
00:57:32Will you do your big one this season?
00:57:34Oh, yeah.
00:57:35I am squatting on these bitches.
00:57:38I am on these bitches.
00:57:40It's gonna stink.
00:57:41And they're gonna hate it.
00:57:42It's gonna smell like so nothing that it's gonna stink.
00:57:46They won't even see it, but I'll be on them.
00:57:49I am America's Next Drag Superstar because I am a powerhouse when I hit the stage.
00:57:55I am a maker and a creative.
00:57:58Like, I figure out how to do anything and create anything.
00:58:00If I have a vision, we're bringing that vision to life one way or another.
00:58:04I'm America's Next Drag Superstar because you can't spell my name without icon icon.
00:58:07It is written in the name.
00:58:09Written in the stars.
00:58:10Patty.
00:58:14I'm not seeing it enough, mama, honey.
00:58:16Baby, you can put a little bloop, bloop.
00:58:18You can put a little something in there.
00:58:19I'll feel you out.
00:58:20You know?
00:58:20You can imagine how surprised and how sexy you feel.
00:58:28My drag name is Vita Von T Star and I'm from Montgomery, Alabama.
00:58:32Oh my God.
00:58:33Montgomery, Alabama.
00:58:34Very small city.
00:58:36A red state.
00:58:37So, not a lot going on.
00:58:39There isn't a drag scene, really.
00:58:41Yeah.
00:58:42I am the drag scene.
00:58:44My style is very feminine, but I like masculine traits as well.
00:58:49I love to show femininity, but still showing power.
00:58:53A little bit of both.
00:58:54I would have to say a trait that I bring into my drag is tradition.
00:58:58I'm very old school.
00:58:59I like powerful drag.
00:59:01I like meaningful drag.
00:59:02I like for my drag to tell a story.
00:59:06I think what will help me the most in this competition is my skills that I possess outside of drag,
00:59:12which is designing and sewing.
00:59:14We're pushing for Miss Congeniality.
00:59:16I am a helpful queen.
00:59:17I am a drag queen's drag queen.
00:59:20Ooh.
00:59:21Baby, listen.
00:59:21I can't do the stunts and the tricks and the flips and the dips and the splits.
00:59:25I can't do that anymore.
00:59:28But I'm going to try to be so captivating on stage because I feel like that's the essence that,
00:59:34you know, we don't glorify.
00:59:36But I feel like being captivating is an essence that I would try to use to my advantage.
00:59:42Bring the people to you.
00:59:45Well, my names come from the movie To Wong Fu.
00:59:48I was about eight years old when that movie came out.
00:59:50And I didn't know what was really happening.
00:59:53I just know that I was so drawn to the character Vita Boheme of the Manhattan Bohems.
00:59:58And so I wanted to capture Vita, Vita Von Teese, and Diane Carroll all together.
01:00:05And those women just collectively possess different traits that makes up me.
01:00:12What's the strangest thing about you?
01:00:13Hmm.
01:00:15Coming from a little emo gothic kid.
01:00:18Oh, I shouldn't say that.
01:00:20That's a bit embarrassing.
01:00:22Definitely all black.
01:00:24Piercings in my ear.
01:00:26I had contacts called iguana, which were like red and yellow.
01:00:30I dyed my hair green, blue, red.
01:00:34Chains everywhere.
01:00:35I wore handcuffs.
01:00:36My nails were black.
01:00:38Fishnet shirts.
01:00:39Yeah.
01:00:40Maybe I did it.
01:00:42And that still lives in me, but hey.
01:00:47I will do my big one.
01:00:49Yes.
01:00:50Yes.
01:00:51Kind of.
01:00:53Maybe.
01:00:54Sort of.
01:00:55A little.
01:00:56But a lot.
01:00:58Just enough.
01:00:59Maybe not enough.
01:01:01But yes.
01:01:03I am America's Next Drag Superstar because I know my .
01:01:11I know who I am.
01:01:12I know my superpower in drag.
01:01:14I know what I could bring.
01:01:16I just have all of the things.
01:01:18I'm cultured.
01:01:19I'm experienced.
01:01:21Yeah.
01:01:22I am all of the things.
01:01:26In shady times.
01:01:29Let there be light.
01:01:32And.
01:01:33Let.
01:01:34There.
01:01:35Be.
01:01:36Drag.
01:01:38This season, 14 new queens will be the light the world needs.
01:01:42Right now.
01:01:44Yes.
01:01:44More than ever.
01:01:46Wake up sugar baby.
01:01:47It's the lady boss who paid the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
01:01:53Wake up sugar baby.
01:01:55It's the lady boss who paid the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
01:01:59evolution.
01:02:01Yeah.
01:02:01I have our action.
01:02:07Don't be afraid to light up the stage, darling.
01:02:10I have our action.
01:02:16Find your life.
01:02:32The crown is for the taking.
01:02:38They all sparkle, but food will shine the brightest.
01:02:43Ready, set, glow.
01:02:49RuPaul's Drag Race, new season premieres Friday, January 2nd at 8.
