00:00Hi Vogue, it's Jared Elner.
00:02We are here in New York.
00:03We're fitting Emma's Met Gala dress.
00:06I'm so excited.
00:07We've been working on it for months.
00:09Now's like crunch time.
00:10We have some work to do.
00:17Emma?
00:23Just give us a minute.
00:24Just give us a minute.
00:26We haven't seen each other in like two weeks.
00:27God, I missed you.
00:29God, I missed you so much.
00:30Wait, I can't believe it.
00:31Oh no.
00:36What?
00:37What?
00:38Wait, this is off.
00:40It's so cringe to say like, I'm speechless.
00:43But I'm literally speechless.
00:46And this isn't even like the real one.
00:48This girl is, this is like the full shebang.
00:51This is mama dress over here.
00:54Wait, I cannot believe.
00:56I just want to like touch it.
00:57I know I want to touch it too, but I'm like scared.
01:00Should we touch it?
01:00I want to like lick it.
01:02I want it.
01:02Wait, that's how we celebrate after we're done.
01:04We'll start with the girl.
01:05We're going to like, I'm going to bring it home.
01:06And then we're going to lick it.
01:07Just to see what it's like.
01:09That's smart.
01:09It's just so much better in person.
01:11It is true.
01:12Like that's why I freaked out.
01:13It's like, have I seen this dress, photos of this dress every step of the way?
01:18100%.
01:18But there is something about the way that you can see that this was painted on like in real
01:24life that just, yeah, photos never going to give you that.
01:34You guys were unscrewing the crate.
01:40We do use power tools in fashion.
01:43We do absolutely use power tools.
01:46We do put elbow grease in the fan.
01:48Have you ever used a power tool?
01:50Yes, Jared.
01:51As a prop for a photo shoot.
01:54I don't know if any of this is usable because everyone's talking, but it's cool for us.
01:58It's cool for us.
01:58This is our memory.
01:59Our memory.
01:59Me and Jared's memory.
02:00Don't you think that we're going to cry at some point?
02:02Can I be honest?
02:03But right as I was falling asleep, I did last night.
02:09We're opening the box.
02:10Oh, should we say that together?
02:12We're opening the box.
02:14Just be careful of nails.
02:16We don't want you to.
02:17Do you have a tetanus shot?
02:18I have a tetanus shot.
02:19Great.
02:20This is a treacherous box.
02:21We're risking.
02:22Whoa.
02:23Whoa.
02:23It's like Christmas.
02:24This is Christmas in May.
02:31Oh, you're, you're tighter than a hand.
02:33I'm thinking a hand.
02:34Delicately and with tat.
02:36Go hand.
02:38Oh my God.
02:42This is so sick.
02:47What if I throw up on it?
02:49Oh, there's the hand thing.
02:51Wait, we know this dress so well, but we're remembering things as we go.
02:56Whoa.
02:57So sick.
02:58I feel like I'm dealing with a newborn.
03:00This is like a newborn baby to me.
03:02This is a good practice for me.
03:03For motherhood.
03:04Oh my God.
03:05Oh my God.
03:10Both of these dresses are Mugler.
03:12Miguel, the creative director, who we had the lovely opportunity of meeting in Paris.
03:18When was it?
03:19A few fashion weeks ago, we like, we went to a cocktail event with Vogue and we met him,
03:25which was so special and cool because we were about to go to his debut show the following day.
03:30We just had a gorgeous hang.
03:31He's a Gemini.
03:32We're Gemini.
03:33Yes.
03:34Yes.
03:34We're all Gemini.
03:35Yeah, we are.
03:36Wow.
03:37We just really fell in love with him and the whole team.
03:41I feel like I'm going to cry at some point.
03:43And it's like, I'm starting to be a little, little cry tingles.
03:50It's not bad.
03:52It's not bad.
03:53We went to the show and literally I remember you turned to me and you were like,
03:57Ooh, it would be so fun to wear them for Met.
03:59Cause the show was such a good vibe and so strong.
04:02And somehow, you know, we're here.
04:04It's somehow like so elegant, but yet like so major.
04:10It's just, I mean, I think we've like,
04:12I don't even care if we say it's so major and then,
04:15people on Reddit are like, no, it's not.
04:17I don't care.
04:18I don't care because to me, this is major.
04:22This is, this is about, this is about us in our hearts.
04:25Let's get it on.
04:35I feel like I'm in a Van Gogh painting.
04:39Wait, we need to untie the hands.
04:41Just you wait for what these hands are going to be.
04:43Ooh, look at that hand.
04:47Wow.
04:49Wait, let me see that.
04:50Isn't that amazing?
04:52That's a good hand.
04:54That's a really good hand.
04:56We're contemplating if I do a little hair switch up, dye my hair brown.
05:00From the bottle.
05:00I'm bleaching my eyebrows for sure.
05:02Although it is kind of pretty with a brow, but I, no.
05:07Jared's fully just against eyebrows.
05:09Jared hates eyebrows.
05:10Something happens when Emma bleaches her brows, like there's peace in the world.
05:15Like it just, things are right.
05:17So.
05:18Yeah, he loves it.
05:19For a crazy editorial carpet and a moment like this, it just like gives so much room for makeup in
05:24such a nice way.
05:25We have been holding off really deciding hair and makeup until right now.
05:30Yeah.
05:30Because it, we've seen photos of this look, but.
05:32You don't know until it's on.
05:35And so I think we, yeah, we've not rushed to make a plan until we see what it needs in
05:42a way.
05:42We're kind of coming up with it as we go.
05:44And that's why we brought a little wig so that we can try on, see like what brown hair is
05:50going to look like with this.
05:51I'm really loving how my platinum looks with this.
05:53So I don't think I'm actually going to want to change it.
05:55But why don't we just pop it on?
05:57Kind of a mullet right now.
05:58So it's like showing how at the back.
06:00Okay.
06:02It's actually better than I thought.
06:03It's actually cool.
06:05Wait.
06:06We've been debating this so hard in a fun, friendly way.
06:10Well, we have gorgeous debates, Jared and I.
06:12Absolutely.
06:12That's what makes us a good team.
06:13If we didn't debate it, it would be boring, boring.
06:16There we go.
06:17Boom.
06:17I think our plan was take some photos with wig, without wig.
06:23Because honestly, as much as we like to decide in person, it's all about how it photographs.
06:27See, I do think it's blonde.
06:28I think it's great blonde.
06:36I feel like our goal with this was to create something that very clearly referenced art.
06:41But also just felt like it could be taken off and put in the museum on its own.
06:46You have such an affinity for painting, especially like kind of more abstract paintings.
06:51We sort of like put together a mood board and had a call with Miguel and Nikki and the team.
06:58This might be the first year where we got one sketch.
07:02Yeah.
07:02And we had no notes.
07:03Yeah.
07:04And we were just like, yes.
07:06My dad's an artist.
07:08I grew up in a very creative household.
07:10So when this theme came out, I was like, I feel like this Met dress might be the most me
07:15to my core and in my soul Met dress ever.
07:19Like beautiful, but with a creepy undertone.
07:21Like that's what I'm really drawn towards.
07:23And so I feel like this has that in a way that I'm so stoked by.
07:29And I think like, I mean, you can tell we, as we were receiving images, it was like, they are
07:35putting so much love and effort and energy into this.
07:38I think it was like a thousand plus hours that went into making this.
07:41And Miguel and the team, you can tell, poured their hearts into it.
07:44And that's a feeling that's very rare.
07:47We're definitely feeling it right now.
07:55There's like a feeling I get when I look at a painting that really resonates with me.
08:00I almost feel a little, like I feel intrigued.
08:07There's a complex emotion here that I'm, I want to uncover.
08:12It's a subtle complexity.
08:13And I feel like this gown has that feeling to it where it is very beautiful, but then there are
08:19little elements.
08:21The hands, the bleeding sort of watercolor that kind of gives it this edge in this like friction.
08:28Which earring do you like?
08:30I have an answer.
08:32One of each.
08:33Totally.
08:34I think I like the yellow.
08:35I like the yellow too.
08:36I don't think we even need rings.
08:37We're not even going to see my hands really.
08:39Well, I'm curious if the sleeve should be slightly higher.
08:41Like if the fingers start there so that when you put your hands on your hips, you see a finger.
08:47You see a little finger.
08:47I agree.
08:48I think that might be nice.
08:49I agree.
08:50So maybe like a solid chunk there.
08:52Let me try to shoot.
08:53I was going to say.
08:54We were planning on these, but we might need some more height.
08:57Or we can also pin the whole sleeve slimmer.
09:00I do like it feeling like second skin.
09:03Yeah.
09:03We might want to stitch you in before you leave like the moment of.
09:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:08And then so that it's exactly the place where we want it.
09:11It's like when you cut my underwear.
09:12Oh my God.
09:13Remember?
09:14That is so crazy.
09:15Like seconds before we had to cut my underwear one night.
09:18Me too.
09:18Cause it was like, you could see underwear lines in a weird way.
09:21And so we like, but I needed to wear underwear.
09:27Jared, you want to take some photos of me in it?
09:29I would love to.
09:38That is amazing.
09:39It hits so well on the photograph.
09:41Oh my God.
09:42I'm like choked up.
09:43That's amazing.
09:45Oh my God.
09:46I look so beautiful.
09:48I'm choked.
09:48Oh no.
09:49It's not me.
09:50It's the dress.
09:50I'm so proud of it.
09:52I'm so proud of it too.
09:53I wish Miguel was here.
09:54Give him a big hug.
09:55Wow.
09:56Okay.
09:57Should we try on the mini?
10:02So this is my interview look.
10:04It's something a little more understated, a little more comfortable.
10:07Now my hands are available so I can move the microphones around.
10:11It's cool.
10:11Cause they're a little different.
10:12Cause it's hand painted.
10:13Each one has its own vibe and the little shoe.
10:20The little painted shoe.
10:21This is so comfortable.
10:23I could wear this.
10:24I could literally wear this like to like yoga.
10:27Oh good.
10:27I think for this one, there's these two pieces are separate.
10:31It's like an underskirt.
10:32Huh.
10:33It's really pretty.
10:34Underskirt check.
10:35Yeah.
10:36Underskirt check is nice.
10:37Do you want to see more of that?
10:39I know.
10:39What if we like bunched?
10:41Sorry.
10:41I'm like being crazy right now.
10:43Or even like.
10:43Wait, why is that cool?
10:44Like what if we were to like tack this here and it was like bunched and then you couldn't
10:49see that seam.
10:50Like I would, I would not hate that.
10:51It's kind of nice.
10:52That's kind of gorgeous like that.
10:54Okay.
10:54So we'll play with the skirt.
10:57And then we also, this skirt underneath has like a grosgrain and a waistband that peeks
11:03out through and we did the same thing on the carpet dress where we remove that.
11:06So we'll probably remove it on this too.
11:08So it's just clean.
11:09Probably going to do some of the same tailoring too, where we remove some of these like wrinkles
11:13around her shoulders and like raise the armpits slightly.
11:17And also we're going to need to cut the arm.
11:19Slightly shorter and we might want to take the wrist in a little more.
11:23And it's kind of crazy because for us, this is pretty minimal alterations.
11:27Let's pin it up.
11:30Cut.
11:38We have to assess how long tailoring is going to take.
11:40We'll probably do hopefully a fitting tomorrow, if not on Sunday.
11:44And we wait.
11:47And then we wait.
11:48I know.
11:48You study up.
11:49I study.
11:50I study up.
11:51I protect my peace.
11:54I rest.
11:55Basically see you on Monday.
11:56No, I see you tonight.
11:57We have another fitting tonight.
11:59Oh, fuck.
12:00We have another fitting tonight.
12:01Oh, fuck.
12:02Yeah, I'll see you tonight.
12:03Can't wait.
12:04Okay.
12:05Love you.
12:06Love you.
12:07Mwah.
12:07Bye!
12:08Bye-bye.
12:09Bye-bye!
