00:48actually do in the show how i look and what i'm wearing and probably the most extraordinary

00:57huge platform stiletto boots a wig i'm six foot eight it changes you it's it's an extraordinary
01:03feeling so i'm going to finish my coffee and then we're going to go for a little walk with my
01:07dog

02:08i got stopped the other week on the morning of the april issue of vogue where
02:13the cast of the rocky horror did a beautiful editorial we were walking the street and some
02:17guy stopped to me i wouldn't have thought he was a vogue magazine reader yeah but clearly he was
02:24and he was like amazing uh amazing vogue editorial man i was like oh thank you very much
02:31that was crazy last week i was recording with my cast sweet transvestite for the jimmy fallon
02:40tonight show and then in the evening i went to the met gala and the morning as i woke up
02:46to a tony
02:47nomination for a lead in a musical it was a crazy crazy whirlwind 24 hours and i possibly can never
02:55come back to new york after this experience because i don't think it'll ever match it
02:59you know and i was going to be here to be a big fan of the american american american american
03:02american
03:02fran is running the day to day of the business bdxy our brand so he's busy but that's okay busy
03:09is good
03:14we are at the empire diner on 10th avenue and there's an incredible mural on the building above
03:21which has Basquiat, Warhol, Frida Kahlo and Keith Haring.
03:31I can't eat for like two hours before the show because I have to wear a corset which is extremely
03:36restrictive.
03:38It's restrictive on breathing because I have to take such big breaths.
03:41So we have to be careful that I don't, they don't winch me in too much because I can't take
03:47deep breaths
03:47which is a very strange thing to feel when you're singing big songs.
04:05Everything's good here.
04:09Okay, well I'm going to go home and pick up my bag and I'll see you in a bit.
04:21Hello!
04:33Hey guys, welcome to the stage door of Studio 54.
04:40That's under the theatre this way which is a very, very ancient part of this theatre.
04:47Imagine what went on in it when it was Studio 54.
04:50Now we're backstage, this is where all the magic happens.
04:54Hi guys, this is Vogue.
04:56Hi!
04:57They've been with me all day.
04:58There's a lot of beautiful wigs in here and the makeup.
05:02This is real!
05:03This is Sterling, a makeup designer.
05:06This is Natalia who looks after my wig and many others and that is my wig.
05:12It's not ready yet, believe it or not, but it will be soon.
05:15Now we're walking under the stage.
05:18A couple of eyeballs here.
05:20You have to see the show.
05:21I'm not going to explain what they mean.
05:23Hello everybody!
05:24This is where all the tears and the stitching gets done.
05:29So these are some of the costumes.
05:32We've got the narrator's jacket here.
05:34We've got Harvey Gillum's, Guillaume's, Eddie's jacket which looks frozen and frosted.
05:40A little bit of the usherette there.
05:43Beautiful sort of snakeskin vibe.
05:45This is my second costume of the evening which is a nurse.
05:51I have a few skimpy pieces of my costume.
05:57So this is, this is where we should be.
06:00This is Emma, my dresser, my very patient, legendary Broadway dresser.
06:05And I'm very, very lucky to have her.
06:08Come on in.
06:09I chose the color green.
06:12I wanted, I didn't like the color it was.
06:14That's the only diva thing I've ever asked for is could they paint my dressing room.
06:17There's lots of little details.
06:19This is a picture of us on our first preview.
06:22They took a picture of us at the end of the show.
06:24That's how many people it takes to pro on a Broadway show.
06:27This is one of the pieces of my undergarment.
06:30So these are the shoes here.
06:32Well, shoes, I'd say they're more monster boots.
06:38And yeah, they have studs on the back, belts on the side.
06:45And they're platformed.
06:47Then they get zipped up on my leg every night.
06:50Like that.
06:51And this is Lala's theatre bed.
06:54This is where she comes to play with Mr. Squirrel and Mrs. Lamb.
06:58Fun fact.
06:59When Alan Cumming was here doing Cabaret in 2014, he had a dog.
07:07And his dog was also called Lala.
07:11Crazy.
07:12We use about 70% of these brushes every night.
07:16Which is a mad thing because I didn't realize you'd need so many brushes to do one face.
07:21But you do.
07:23I have to glue my eyebrows, which is with this very technical piece of equipment.
07:28It's children's school glue.
07:30And it's bright purple.
07:32And when you put it on, it actually looks purple.
07:37And so drag queens glue them down.
07:40And this is many applications, maybe five or six applications with a fan cooling it down.
07:45And that goes on like that.
07:47It's very thick.
07:50Yeah.
07:51And this is quite cool.
07:52This is a makeup pack that was designed by Wicked Widow.
07:56But it is actually the original colors of all the characters' makeups.
07:59So this one is a very famous turquoise that was worn by Tim Curry.
08:04This exact color.
08:05As you can see, I use it every night.
08:09Guys.
08:10Is it okay?
08:17We're now on the stage.
08:18The crew is getting ready to hide all the sets.
08:22And the curtain's gonna come down.
08:24And then we're gonna open the theater and everything's neon.
08:27And this will be full of rabid fans of the show in about an hour and a half's time.
08:34I gotta go, guys.
08:35Look, the smoke's coming.
08:36It's all happening here.
08:39And I gotta go and get ready.
08:41And it takes me a little longer than most people.
08:44So thank you so much for coming with me for the day and experiencing the 24 hours of my life.
08:51Hopefully it was fun.
08:52Lala enjoyed it.
08:53Come and see the show.
08:54Bye.
08:55Bye.
08:57Bye.
08:59Bye, bye.
09:01Maa.
