00:00The Butterworth Sessions Court has set case management for June 18 for eight people charged with being members of an
00:07organised crime group known as Geng Adik Labu Basar pending consent to move the case to the High Court.
00:14Judge Roslan Hamid set the date after being told that documents pertaining to the case needed to be presented, while
00:21Deputy Public Prosecutor Mariam Jamiela Abdul Manaf said they were still awaiting consent to prosecute for the transfer to the
00:28High Court.
00:30The six men and two women, aged between 22 and 35, were present in court during the case management.
00:36In March this year, they were charged with being alleged members of Geng Adik Labu Basar between March and October
00:4316 last year.
00:45No plea was recorded, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court and the alleged offence took
00:52place at Vista Perdana Butterworth.
00:54The group, which was dismantled in a special operation by Bukit Aman CID in collaboration with Penang Police on February
01:0215, is believed to be responsible for at least 42 burglary cases involving losses of nearly one million ringgit.
01:11All those arrested have criminal records, including for armed robbery, housebreaking, theft, vehicle theft and drug abuse.
