00:01The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has fixed July 20th to deliver its decision in the graft case involving former actress
00:09Datin Seri Zizi Izzete Abdul Samad, who is accused of abetting her late husband, Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin.
00:16Sessions Court Judge Rosli Ahmad fixed the decision date during proceedings on Monday.
00:22Zizi is on trial on three counts of abetting Bung Mokhtar, who was then Felcra's non-executive chairman, in accepting
00:29RM2.2 million and RM262,500 from Unit Trust agent Madhi Abdul Hamid and a further RM337,500 from Nurhaili
00:41Ahmad Mokhtar, also a Unit Trust agent,
00:44as an inducement for Felcra's approval to invest RM150 million in public mutual unit trusts.
00:51Earlier, Zizi's lead counsel, Datuk Seri K. Kumaraendran, said the prosecution failed to prove abetment, as it couldn't show Zizi
01:00had substantially assisted Bung in receiving corrupt monies.
01:04He maintained the RM2.8 million paid to Zizi was merely a voluntary introductory fee from two unit trust agents,
01:12not a bribe.
01:13In response, Deputy Public Prosecutor Law Chin Hao said Zizi never disputed receiving the RM2.8 million and acknowledged accepting
01:22it despite knowing it stemmed from Felcra's investment in public mutual.
01:26He argued she should have rejected the money, given that her late husband Bung Mokhtar was non-executive chairman at
01:32the time.
01:33The prosecution added that the defence failed to explain why the received monies were not corrupt.
01:38Zizi allegedly committed the offences at public bank Thaman Melawati branch on June 12, 2015.
01:45Bung Mokhtar was acquitted of the charges following his death on December 5, 2025.
