00:08Arun Dorasamy was charged at the Jawi Magistrates' Court in Nibong Tebal, Penang on Tuesday.
00:14Kulasegaran, who is also Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Law and
00:19Institutional Reforms, said he only briefly met Arun outside the court complex to advise
00:24him to place his trust in the legal process.
00:27In a statement, he said he had been in Penang since Monday and stopped by the court on his
00:33way back.
00:34Kulasegaran added that he has known Arun since representing Indira Gandhi in her legal challenge
00:40concerning her children.
00:42The statement comes after questions from the opposition about whether it was appropriate
00:47for a cabinet member to attend court proceedings with a person about to be charged.
00:52Bersatu Vice President Datuk Dr Mohamad Radzi Monjideen said the government should clarify
00:58the matter immediately.
01:00Arun was charged under Section 505B of the Penal Code and pleaded not guilty.
