Twenty men were charged at the Sungai Petani Sessions Court, Kedah with being members of an organised criminal group known as the Rames Gang since January last year.

No pleas were recorded from any of the accused after the charges were read before Judge Najwa Che Mat on Tuesday (Dec 30), as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

00:0020 men were charged at the Soong'ai Pettani Sessions Court with being members of an organized
00:11criminal group known as the Ramesh Gang since January last year. No pleas were recorded from
00:17any of the accused after the charges were read before Judge Najwa Chemat on Tuesday,
00:22as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court. According to the charge sheet,
00:28all 20 accused, aged between 24 and 42, are alleged to have been members of the organized
00:35criminal group from January last year until December 4 this year in Kampung Sungai Division,
00:41Kuala Muda. They were charged under Section 130v Subsection 1 of the Penal Code, which carries a
00:48sentence of between 5 and 20 years' imprisonment if convicted. The Court denied bail and fixed
00:54January 29 for the next mention of the case. During the proceedings, the judge granted an
00:59application by the defense allowing all the accused to briefly meet their family members
01:04at the court complex.
