The State and Federal Governments have announced a two-billion-dollar injection into housing in WA, promising to deliver more than 34-thousand new homes over the next eight years. 11 thousand of those will be aside for first home buyers.

00:02When big dollars are being promised, it's hard to keep politicians away.
00:06This is a significant funding package, the biggest.
00:09We are absolutely focused on delivering more homes for Western Australians.

00:16The $2 billion package focused on freeing up land, installing infrastructure and younger buyers.
00:23We're going to deliver 34,000 desperately needed homes here in Western Australia,
00:2811,000 of those will be set aside just for Western Australian first home buyers.

00:37$522 million will go towards delivering water and power to outer Perth suburbs and southern parts of the state.
00:44A further almost $700 million for land development works at MetroNet stations and regional WA.
00:51The joint funding also includes $375 million for a state led build to sell program.
00:59That's expected to see the construction of 500 new homes exclusively for first home buyers.

01:43But these are the sorts of sums of money that should have been allocated throughout their 10 years.
