00:14Summers are brutal with the heat.
00:17It'll melt your shoes, your skin, it'll tear you up for sure.
00:23If it's too hot outside, the bad guys don't want to go out and commit crimes.
00:26When the nighttime comes, the freaks come out.
00:30Put your pants off!
00:32When that's undone, people think they can hide the bad stuff in the dark.
00:36This is the I don't believe Facebook.
00:39One team, one family, we always pull together.
00:44Dad, run your back!
00:46What the f*** am I in handcuffs for?
00:49It's very dangerous.
00:51Backup isn't always closed.
00:55I don't want an emergency.
00:56We're gonna kill these.
00:58Where's your hand?
00:58Assaults, robberies, shootings.
01:01It's lawless out here.
01:03It's gonna get hot tonight.
01:04A little bit of spice is always good.
01:06Stop having sex.
01:07Put your jeans on.
01:09See you in the wild, wild west, Tucson.
01:12It's the witching hour.
01:13Don't tap out on us yet, okay?
01:28We need some cops here at Walmart.
01:31There's a fight.
01:32Somebody has a gun.
01:34Okay, try to stay far away from them, okay?
01:36I'm gonna stay on the phone with you until a deputy arrives on scene.
01:40Okay.
01:43Oh, it looks like two males are fighting at the Walmart.
01:47One of them mentioned a gun of some sort.
01:52Gray t-shirt, blue jeans.
02:19You want to go with him?
02:21Don't stop at me.
02:24Really?
02:26Really?
02:27Wow.
02:29I know my legs.
02:31Don't push him.
02:32All right.
02:33Where's the firearm?
02:34In my pocket.
02:35All right.
02:35Face my vehicle.
02:36Which pocket is at the front?
02:38Yeah.
02:38Okay.
02:40Is it loaded?
02:42Yes, ma'am, but it's not tampered.
02:46Any other weapons?
02:47No, sir.
02:48All right.
02:48He's in the back of the car, right?
02:50All right.
02:50What happened today?
02:51Oh, he was in the line.
02:53He proceeded to me, hey, buddy, the line's back here.
02:56What the hell are you trying to do?
02:58I told him, hey, wake up, bro.
03:00You're daydreaming.
03:01You know, he embarrassed me by yelling and screaming at me like I'm some sort of punk trying to cut
03:06in front of him.
03:06That was not the case.
03:07And he told me, look, buddy, you don't want to do this.
03:11I'm going to hurt you.
03:12I'm going to hurt you really bad.
03:13It's defective.
03:14Okay?
03:15I'm showing you what he did to me.
03:16So I showed him, look, bro.
03:19I'm just able to have a gun.
03:20I defend myself.
03:22What he did?
03:23He punches me in the head three times before I take him down to the ground and hold him there
03:28waiting on you.
03:30Because you were shrugging the head, I do want to get you checked out by paramedics.
03:34No, I don't want to be checked out.
03:37He's claiming that essentially he was confronted by the other individual at the grocery store.
03:44And then that's when the physical altercation ensued between the two of them.
03:50He pulled the firearm out.
03:52And that's why I'm just going to check with the other deputy and see what information he's got at this
03:58time.
04:00All right.
04:01So let me make sure I got this right.
04:02So before you guys started fighting, he brandished his firearm or he lifted up his shirt showing you had his
04:08firearm, correct?
04:09When he went to the other checkout.
04:11When he went to the other checkout.
04:11Yes.
04:12Right.
04:12Okay.
04:13What exactly happened then?
04:14Well, then he started threatening me.
04:16He said, you know, we can finish this outside.
04:19I said, I said, man, I don't have a gun.
04:22Okay.
04:22I said, if you're going to act tough, don't act tough with a gun because that's an equalizer and that's
04:26not fair.
04:27And then you hit him once after he...
04:30I hit him once because he continued to show to flash to brandish his gun.
04:34And then you guys started wrestling around?
04:36And he put his hand on it.
04:38Okay.
04:38He punched him once.
04:39And at that time, after he punched him, they started wrestling on the ground.
04:44And then someone inside, they separated it and then they both ended up outside.
04:48And then that's when we came and showed it out.
04:51Was the firearm ever pulled out?
04:53Yes.
04:53Oh, it was?
04:54He pulls it out, like, to show him like that.
04:57And that's when the guy just started...
05:03The store wants them permanently trespassed also because they said it was too violent.
05:07There was a lot of people around them when that gun came out.
05:11They're both getting charged, basically, at the end.
05:13But the one that pulled out the gun, that's a felony offense.
05:17The other male who did not have a gun is a disorderly conduct charge.
05:21That's for initiating the fight.
05:22Okay, let's go.
05:23Come on.
05:24Come on.
05:24Get out of the car so we can go.
05:27I would if you get this off.
05:29But we got to keep it on you.
05:33No, you're still going to be arrested.
05:35You are.
05:35Let's go.
05:36Reed.
05:37Yeah, that's my name.
05:38Have a good day.
05:38You too.
05:41Oh, he was saying that he's not...
05:44He's free to go and doesn't want to talk to me no more.
05:47And I told him, well, you are going to be arrested eventually.
05:49And he didn't...
05:50He didn't like that.
05:52The charges are going to be presented to the county attorneys.
05:54And he's going to have a court later on.
05:57He's just not going to jail tonight because he's having chest pains, I guess.
06:09I don't take it personally when people call me names or bad-mouthed cops.
06:15I mean, they don't like my uniform.
06:17It's not me in particular.
06:19Some people take it personally, but I don't.
06:22I'm just doing my job.
06:23That's it.
06:25Some people don't like it when you have to enforce the law.
06:28Especially when they break it.
06:30Like, don't do the crime if you can't pay the time.
06:36Some people act like they have no rules.
06:39In Arizona, we have the freest gun laws in the nation.
06:44So the safest bet as a deputy is to just assume that everybody has a gun.
06:50On the ground!
06:51Get on the ground!
06:52For whatever reason, in Arizona today, everybody thinks it's okay to solve their differences with a gun.
06:59It's not uncommon at all to find individuals armed with revolvers, you know, semi-automatic handguns, rifles, shotguns.
07:07Our population out here is pretty well armed.
07:10Nowadays, we have more shootings versus when I first started.
07:14I feel like people don't like to fight anymore.
07:16People just like to pull out guns and start shooting at each other.
07:19Hey! Hey!
07:19Get the f*** out of my way, bro!
07:21It's kind of been like a trend here in Tucson.
07:24You're going there directly at me.
07:26There's a lot of people that carry guns, and there's a lot of people that don't like the police.
07:45It's a Saturday night right now.
07:47My shift starts at 8 p.m. and goes until 6 a.m.
07:51So, on Saturday nights, there's a lot of party, so it's a really good opportunity for DUIs.
08:02737 Traffic Unrelated.
08:07River and Local.
08:10When it comes to traffic stops, you do find a lot of illegal activity inside vehicles.
08:15Like, people hide a lot of stuff in their car.
08:19So, I think they're super risky.
08:21It could be your last week before retirement, and that could be when somebody decides to pull a gun on
08:25you on a traffic stop.
08:28I'm pulling over because she's kind of going back and forth between lanes, and I'm using her turn signal, and
08:33she's also going 65 back there.
08:36So, it's just a little odd.
08:47All right, do you have your license on you?
08:50All righty.
08:51Just got to call.
08:51Something happened to my daughter.
08:53I'm trying to hurry.
08:55She's with my family.
08:56All right, give me one second, okay?
08:57All righty.
09:01She's saying she's driving like this just because her daughter got injured.
09:07People act crazy when their loved ones get hurt, I get it, but she's driving pretty erratically.
09:17All righty, I'm going to let you go, okay?
09:19I know stuff's going on, so I don't want to, like, slow you down anymore, but you can't be driving
09:23like that regardless, okay?
09:25Just because you're putting other people at risk, too.
09:27All right?
09:28I'm going to freak you out.
09:29No, you're fine.
09:30Okay, I'm going to go ahead and close this for you, okay?
09:32All righty.
09:33Get there safe.
09:34Yes, sir.
09:34And follow the rules of the road, all right?
09:36Yes.
09:36All righty.
09:40I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.
09:42She's just driving crazy because she's trying to get her daughter, but I didn't see any signs of impairment, nothing
09:46like that.
09:47She's just a little shaken up, so.
10:06I would say the job is rewarding, but it's still really difficult at times, and there are things that we
10:12get into that the normal person has no idea how to handle.
10:16There's a case I worked where a call came out about suspicious activity.
10:24911, where is your emergency?
10:26I'm in Pima County, Arizona.
10:29Mm-hmm.
10:30What sort of help do you need out there?
10:33We had someone knock on our door, and they needed a jump.
10:38So my dad took my truck, and he's been gone the whole time.
10:43Is this a stranger or somebody that you know?
10:45It was a stranger.
10:47Okay.
10:48We'll get a deputy to give you a call.
10:52Someone had knocked on their door and asked if they could get a jump start on their vehicle.
10:57It's been a few hours, and their dad hasn't come back yet, but he had taken her truck.
11:01So the family was getting worried, and they didn't know where he was, so I took the call.
11:08Hi, this is Deputy Garza with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
11:11How are you?
11:12Not the greatest.
11:13My dad left with some guy, and me and my mom did not see the guy.
11:18He didn't think he was calling you to take his wallet.
11:22It's bizarre.
11:24He's never gone missing, never disappeared, anything like that.
11:28And I've been tracking my truck.
11:31It's moving again.
11:32The truck is moving again.
11:33So we have a couple units in that area that are pretty close by.
11:36They're heading over there right now.
11:38Okay.
11:39I just need you to keep giving me updates about where it's at, and if it moves, just let me
11:42know.
11:44It's a Silver Ranger.
11:46It's showing it's moving down towards Albarnon.
11:49So I was giving out live location updates, and deputies in Rincon were following the car straight across the city.
11:58And then it ended up landing at, like, an apartment complex.
12:02Yeah, that's it.
12:04Vehicle's unoccupied.
12:07And after they had told me that they had found it, no one was in it, I was hoping for
12:11the best on that.
12:12Like, he was just walking back to his house or something like that.
12:15I was really hoping for the best on that.
12:21Another deputy was backing me up.
12:23He had come up to a vehicle that was, it was burned.
12:27It was a charred vehicle.
12:28I'm out with a burned out vehicle in a code 900.
12:33There was a body next to it.
12:35He had been murdered.
12:36And it was, you know, we came to the conclusion that that was most likely our guy.
12:49I'm out with a burned out vehicle in a code 900.
12:53He had been murdered, and that was most likely our guy.
13:06So, homicide showed up.
13:09They were able to get a lot of evidence on that scene alone to kind of figure out who committed
13:14that crime.
13:15But from what it looked like, it was multiple people that were involved.
13:34Police, search warrant!
13:36Police, search warrant!
13:40Well, I'm an operator on the Pima Regional SWAT team.
13:43Our fugitive detectives had been able to locate all three of the suspects in one place,
13:50in a mobile home park on Benson Highway.
13:54It was very compact in there.
13:56The mobile homes were very close to each other.
13:58But we were able to get it surrounded, despite the fact it was, you know, a little bit challenging geographically.
14:05Police, search warrant!
14:07Check the van, pick those vehicles if you can.
14:10Come out to us!
14:12This one was a very serious homicide case, so that's about as dangerous a suspect as you can get.
14:22Police, search warrant!
14:23Put your hands up!
14:24Do it now!
14:25Walk outside!
14:32All right, come on out with your hands up!
14:35Come to me!
14:36Come to me!
14:37Good for the warrant?
14:38I got a male subject in front of us.
14:40Female!
14:41Jane right there with your hands up!
14:43Do not move!
14:45Two other individuals, not the suspects, came out first fairly quickly.
14:50How about any guns in the house?
14:52Right now we're in a situation where we're going to go in there.
14:54We need to know if they're going to have anything on them.
14:57I haven't seen neither one of them with a gun.
14:59I haven't seen them with a gun.
15:00Okay.
15:00To your knowledge, who is left in that house right now?
15:03The three of them.
15:04Have you heard anything of what they've been saying to each other, any of you?
15:07They never say nothing around me.
15:12Come out with your hands up!
15:14Nothing in your hands!
15:14Do it now!
15:17This is your last opportunity to end this peace party.
15:22Looks like back door is opening.
15:24Walk out slowly!
15:26Keep your hands up!
15:29Hands and knees, crawl towards us!
15:31Keep coming!
15:32Keep coming!
15:35Keep crawling!
15:36I'm off!
15:36Keep crawling towards us!
15:37Hey, crawl towards me now!
15:38The older gentleman came out first.
15:46Crawl towards us on your hands and knees!
15:48If you do anything weird, you can get bit by dogs, so keep crawling.
15:59Then the younger male suspect.
16:01He said he was going to hurt me.
16:04Put your hands out first!
16:06Keep them up high!
16:07Up high in the air!
16:08Slow!
16:09Slow down!
16:10Slow down!
16:10Let's go!
16:12Let's go!
16:13And then finally, the female suspect.
16:16Anybody else inside the house?
16:18Anybody else inside the house?
16:21What's happening?
16:23What's happening?
16:41This job is not only catching people and taking them to jail, but going to court, testifying to ensure that
16:48justice is served and that they, you know, they get the sentencing that's required.
16:55A man was murdered.
16:57A man was murdered.
16:58A man was murdered.
16:59His family has a lot of questions as to why this is something that affected these people.
17:06It changed these people's lives, like, to the core.
17:09He was a grandfather, and there was a younger child there at the house, and now that kid's not going
17:15to grow up with a grandpa.
17:18I know I felt really, I guess, grateful that Christmas to be with my family, especially, you know, right after
17:25that it happened.
17:26That's my main takeaway.
17:28Spend time with the ones that you love the most that you can, because they're the most important people to
17:32you, and tomorrow could be your last day.
17:46Number three female, gray over black, waving around a handgun.
17:55Stay right there!
17:56Turn the **** away from me!
17:59Turn away from me!
18:02822, one at gun point.
18:05A deputy stopped out with a suspicious person, and they're waving around a handgun.
18:12Stop! Don't move! Stop right there!
18:16822, still have one at gun point.
18:21He just advised on the radio that he's just waiting for another unit.
18:25245, 20 radios.
18:26Stay right there! Back away from the gun!
18:37It's right in front of her on the ground. I had her back away from it.
18:41All right, ma'am, start walking backwards towards the sound of my voice.
18:47Keep your hands where I can see them.
18:51Keep your hands where I can see them.
18:53Hold on.
19:08I'm not doing that!
19:10Stop!
19:11Stop!
19:11Stop!
19:11Try to weasel out of your handcuffs. Stop.
19:13I'm not...
19:13Yes, you are.
19:14No!
19:15Handcuff me then.
19:16You're not getting unhandcuffed.
19:17No, I don't care.
19:18If you're not...
19:19You're not being unhandcuffed.
19:21If you're advising me of arrest, handcuff me.
19:23Where's the 32 at?
19:25It's right over there in front of her.
19:27Okay.
19:28Okay?
19:29You have the right to remain silent.
19:30I know I do.
19:31Anything you say...
19:32Unhandcuff me before you read...
19:34No, stop!
19:35You're not being unhandcuffed.
19:36Before you read me of my rights, unhandcuff me.
19:40No.
19:40Do you understand that?
19:41No, you're not being unhandcuffed.
19:43Well then, don't read me my rights.
19:45I have to wipe my nose.
19:46Anything that you say...
19:47I have to wipe...
19:49Stop talking to me.
19:50I have to wipe my nose.
19:52Uh, so this is the handgun that she was allegedly waving around.
19:56I don't know what the reason was to it.
20:03Wait.
20:04No, stop!
20:05Stop.
20:07She seems pretty 55.
20:09I know when I was going through here, going westbound,
20:13she steps into the roadway, gets pretty close to my vehicle.
20:16She's waving the gun, like, in through my passenger door.
20:20She had the gun up like this.
20:22Uh, I put her at gunpoint.
20:24Again, giving her commands.
20:26Told her to drop the gun.
20:27She threw the gun down on the ground.
20:29I held her there until you showed up and then we 26ed her.
20:33And that's why I was so jacked up on the radio.
20:35It tells her she's going to, like, shoot me.
20:37Okay.
20:38Go ahead.
20:38Are you okay if I check your pockets for any weapons?
20:40Hey.
20:42Can you just take everything out of your pockets or no?
20:43Hey.
20:44I can't.
20:44You're surviving.
20:46You got me.
20:46It's a yes or no question.
20:48It's a yes or no question.
20:50No.
20:51Okay.
20:52We'll put you in the back of the car for now, okay?
20:53Okay.
20:54You're advising me on my life, right?
20:57No.
20:58Stop.
20:58Hey, let's not do this, okay?
21:00I swear.
21:01I did nothing.
21:03Can you just have a seat so we can talk with you?
21:06No.
21:08No.
21:09Come on.
21:10Don't push me.
21:11It's either just do it or else we have to partially put you in the car.
21:14And we don't want to do that.
21:15What?
21:16Please help us out.
21:16Is it ready to arrest?
21:20You put your foot in?
21:21I don't want to squeeze your foot.
21:22Shut it.
21:23I don't want to squeeze your foot, so can you put your foot in, please?
21:26These cuffs are tight.
21:27I can put a finger through the cuffs, so you're good.
21:29Losing them.
21:31No.
21:31Ain't no no.
21:33Ain't no no.
21:34Ain't no no.
21:35Ain't no no.
21:35Okay, they're not meant to be comfortable.
21:37You untie both of them.
21:39Tie it.
21:39No.
21:40Ah!
21:41Close it.
21:41No!
21:43I'm sorry.
21:44I swear to God.
21:45When we got here, she seemed a little bit irate already.
21:48Her crying, her emotions.
21:49Smelled some alcohol from her, so it's probably the reason why she's acting out like that.
21:56In Arizona, it's not illegal to own a weapon or have a weapon in open carry, but for someone
22:02to be waving it around is recklessly, and it does violate error statute, which is felony
22:07charges.
22:21Deputy Hillman is pretty new to the job, but he just got off of field training, and it's
22:26a traumatic event for someone who you're pretty brand new and you almost basically had a gun
22:31a gun pointing at you.
22:32It's not something you see every day or deal with every day.
22:52I was living in England.
22:53My dad was in the American military, and I knew I wanted to go to America.
22:59I think I didn't know where I wanted to go to, and a girl I was with at the time
23:03said,
23:04well, you know, if you want to go to America and you want better weather than England, you
23:08can go to Arizona.
23:11So I moved over here.
23:13It's definitely opened some doors in the sense that it gives me a bit of individuality.
23:28That car looks completely blacked out from the back.
23:35Yeah, it is.
23:39Something like that, like a blacked out car.
23:42You know, there's a reason sometimes, like, they've seen a different unit on the other road,
23:47and so they've tried to black out and get away.
23:51748 traffic.
24:03Hello.
24:04The reason why I pulled you over is your car is completely blacked out from behind.
24:08So I don't know if you, like, didn't turn your lights, like, all the way, or you just have...
24:13Oh my God, I didn't.
24:14Let me look.
24:15I thought they were on auto.
24:16Yeah, no, they're not.
24:18So you said it's a rental?
24:19Yes.
24:20Okay.
24:20We're not from here.
24:21We're from Indiana.
24:22We're visiting for the weekend.
24:23From where?
24:23Indiana.
24:24Yeah, I don't know what that is, to be honest.
24:26It's Midwest.
24:28What brings you to Tucson from Indiana?
24:32We're literally just...
24:33Indiana.
24:34We're literally just visiting.
24:35I'm just gonna look something up and I'll be right back.
24:37Okay, thank you.
24:38Mm-hmm.
24:39The car was just, like, completely blacked out from the rear, and I was like,
24:43Ooh, we got something good, and it's just someone driving the rental.
24:47Uh, no ticket for the light.
24:51And, yeah, I mean, enjoy Tucson.
24:53Yeah, thank you.
24:54Have fun, drive, make it back to, uh, what state are you from again?
24:59Yeah.
25:00India, make it back safe and sound.
25:02Have a good night, guys.
25:03You're the worst.
25:05Bro, she goes, I'm not, where are you from?
25:06She's like, Indiana.
25:07I'm like, uh, what?
25:11She's like, where's that?
25:12The Midwest?
25:12I'm like, yeah, sorry, I...
25:14You don't know where Indiana is?
25:15Brother.
25:16Elbows up.
25:17Of all of the states mentioned, Indiana's probably not one of them.
25:22You know, I read it.
25:23The Indiana Pacers?
25:24Alright, name, name the city, and then name the state, and I'll tell you.
25:28I'll give you the first letter, you gotta, you gotta guess the state.
25:30Okay.
25:30M.
25:31M.
25:32Midwest.
25:34People can say Midwest, I don't...
25:37Okay.
25:38Maine.
25:38That is not, that is the furthest northeast state we have.
25:45I'm like, bro, they might people write in and be like...
25:47Alright, think about...
25:48You've got this guy enforcing the law in America, and he doesn't even know his states.
25:52Okay, give me a state, not Oregon, that starts with an O.
25:56Starts with an O?
25:57Starts with the letter O.
25:58What's it rhyme with?
25:59That's gonna give it away.
26:02Oregon, Ohio state...
26:03Sorry.
26:04Bro, Oklahoma.
26:06Oklahoma!
26:06Ha, ha, ha, ha.
26:08Oh, God.
26:10I'll work on it.
26:11No, I won't.
26:13Ha, ha, ha, ha.
26:14Omar!
26:307-4-8 traffic.
26:33What's your boyfriend here?
26:35Give me a number one male on a boat.
26:37They're completely blacked out on the road.
26:41Man, Omar!
26:45It's like the ninth time I bumped into you no lights on your bike, brother.
26:48Come on.
26:49I just put this thing right here.
26:52Didn't I just see you, like, the other month?
26:54Like, yeah.
26:55And you was riding on Flying Wells on a light that was blacked out.
26:59I just got out of my crib and I was like, dude, like, what's going on?
27:02Ooh.
27:03Ooh, doggie, doggie.
27:05Yo, yo, yo.
27:07Brother, you can buy two lights on Amazon for, like, you can buy a pack of, like, eight for,
27:13like, ten dollars.
27:14And we won't be out here messing with you no more.
27:16Thanks so you'll see me, you'll be having, you know, like, the way you get you at it.
27:19Okay.
27:19All right, man.
27:20All right, brother.
27:21Thank you, brother.
27:22Have a good night.
27:22God bless you.
27:24Nice to meet you.
27:25My name is Omar.
27:25My nickname is 45.
27:27I'll see you guys soon.
27:28Your nickname is 45?
27:2945, yeah, that's my nickname.
27:31Why is that?
27:32He likes baseball players.
27:34Yeah, okay.
27:36I'll see you, brother.
27:37Good night.
27:38See ya.
27:39Nah, he's lying.
27:4145 is a, you know, damn well he's nicknamed 45 because of some gun stuff.
27:45You know that for sure.
27:47Talking about, what do you say?
27:4845 for baseball.
27:49Yeah, baseball my buns.
27:52All right, man.
27:58I've been having contacts with Omar for well over a year now.
28:02He just refuses to put a light on his bike for some unknown reason.
28:06One thing we encounter a lot is someone in this situation like that where they're completely
28:10blacked out.
28:11And if someone's driving, not paying attention and runs them over, and then we're dealing
28:15with that.
28:37Oh, so, all right, hold on.
28:42The sky is all over the road.
28:48Fair view, Miracle Mile.
28:56Hello, Deputy Room Sheriff's Department.
28:58Kissy, driver's license, insurance, registration, please.
29:00Where are we coming from tonight?
29:02Uh, just from my house up there.
29:04Where are we heading to tonight?
29:06I was just coming back home.
29:09Coming back home?
29:10Yeah.
29:11I thought you said you were coming from your house.
29:12I was, yeah.
29:14So, you're just out driving in a circle?
29:17Yeah, kind of.
29:19Okay.
29:19How much did you have to drink tonight?
29:21Uh, just like a couple.
29:22Were they like strong?
29:24Yeah.
29:25Kinda?
29:26Okay.
29:26Uh, if you had to place yourself on a scale of one to ten, one being stone cold sober,
29:31you'd drive grandma to church, and ten being fall down, black out, drunk?
29:33Where do you think you're at?
29:35Maybe like a six?
29:41On a scale of one to ten, where do you think you're at?
29:43A six?
29:44Do you think you should be driving at a six?
29:46I'm not sure.
29:47I'm just gonna have you step out.
29:48We're gonna run a couple tests, okay?
29:49Yeah.
29:50Make sure you're safe to drive.
29:51Okay.
29:51So, I want you to come over here, and I want you to face this way.
29:54Yeah.
29:54So, can you imagine a straight line coming out of your left foot?
29:56Go ahead and place your right foot on that line, directly in front of your left foot,
29:59with the heel of your right foot touching the toe of your left foot.
30:02Mm-hmm.
30:02Go and place your arms straight down your sides.
30:06Are you able to get into that position?
30:07Can I just have a moment?
30:09What do you mean?
30:10I don't know if we need to go this far, right?
30:13So, are you... do you not want to continue with field sobriety testing?
30:18Do what you need to do, right?
30:20No comment, do what I need to do?
30:22Yeah.
30:22Okay.
30:23All right, that's fine, man.
30:24Come right over here.
30:25Yeah.
30:26You ever blown into one of these before?
30:28Pretty simple, man.
30:29It's like blowing a balloon.
30:29You just wrap your lips around the strong.
30:31Take a deep breath.
30:32Mm-hmm.
30:33In, and blow.
30:35Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going.
30:36Stop.
30:42All right, so what do you think it says?
30:45Not good.
30:46Not good?
30:48So, go ahead and place your hands, bend your back.
30:50Yeah.
30:50All right, you are under arrest right now for DUI.
30:57The legal limit in Arizona is 0.08, and he is currently at a 0.197, which is over double,
31:09a little over double the legal limit.
31:13So, it is absolutely a good thing we're getting him off the road tonight.
31:38There's a guy with a hatchet that's flagging Valdez down at Curtis and Davis right here, so we're gonna stop
31:42out with him and figure out what's going on with that.
31:46Getting flagged down by a guy with a hatchet is kind of unusual, so we'll stop out, we'll make sure
31:51he's good.
31:527.62.
31:56I'll be a 10.8 now with a 3.0.
32:05I'll get you some medical attack, okay?
32:07All right.
32:11It's a 32.
32:12Where is he coming from, do you know?
32:14He's coming back here.
32:15He used meth this morning and he's been drinking.
32:17He's been drinking all day.
32:19He's been drinking all day.
32:19He's been meth all day.
32:20You've been drinking all day?
32:21No, my brother has.
32:22Your brother lives around here?
32:24Exactly.
32:25Is that a real gun?
32:27It's black powder, unloaded, and unfired.
32:29It's black powder, unloaded, and unfired?
32:31Everything.
32:32So, there's no...
32:33Do you have any ammo for that?
32:36No, there's black powder.
32:37So, if I pick that thing up, it's not gonna blow up or anything crazy?
32:40Are you okay if I get it off of the street and I just put it in the back of
32:43this deputy's car for a minute?
32:45Yeah, yes, sir.
32:45Okay.
32:47So, yeah, it looks like just an old-timey gun.
32:49It looks like it was real.
32:51He's saying it's real.
32:52But it's a black powder, which would kind of add up for these old-style guns.
32:58But I just want to make sure that it's not gonna blow up or anything.
33:03I'm way more in the modern era of guns, so this is one of those pretty few and far-between
33:09moments for me.
33:11It looks like the trigger's depressed, which is good.
33:13So, we'll just kind of walk it back here and we'll secure it in a trunk for now.
33:20That way, it's out of the way.
33:23Hey, listen, we're gonna get an ambulance over here to check you out, okay?
33:39All right.
33:39We'll get him on the firearm.
33:40We'll make sure it doesn't come back to any homicides and it's not stolen or anything crazy.
33:44We'll get him some medical attention if everything is good.
33:47There's a good chance we'll probably set him on his way.
33:50From what he's saying, it's not loaded.
33:52It can't be loaded.
33:52He doesn't have any of the ammo for it.
33:55So, we'll stand by with Valdez while he gets checked out by an ambulance and then we'll kind of take
34:00it from there.
34:06He was flagging me down over there and I thought it was a hatchet at first, the way he was
34:10waving it around.
34:12It looks like the trigger's depressed.
34:15Yeah.
34:17The powder goes here.
34:19Okay.
34:20Close that.
34:21You put the ball in, pack it, and then you bring that back.
34:28First.
34:30You learn something new every day?
34:31Yeah.
34:31That was something, that's for sure.
34:41That was a first there.
34:43I know for black powder you have to, you put the ball in and you like punch it in through
34:49the barrel.
34:50I had no idea where the black powder even goes in until Sarge showed me right now.
34:55So, that was funny.
34:56I mean, at the end of the day, I'm glad that it wasn't a guy waving a hatchet or he
35:00didn't point it at Valdez or anything where it was anything more than a medical call.
35:06So, we'll take the firearm and put it in a safe keeping.
35:319-1-1, where's your emergency?
35:33We've got a couple of men with a dungeon book into the house.
35:36Are they still there?
35:37Yes, there's at least three, three, four people.
35:41Call the police, please!
35:43They're already on the way.
35:46Three to five people have broke into the house.
35:50Subjects are armed.
35:52Unknown if the family is inside.
35:5510-4.
35:57So, we're en route to a reported burglary in progress.
36:01We're being told that three of five armed individuals broke into this house.
36:05We are fairly close to the immediate area, so we should be getting there pretty quick.
36:26How'd you call yourself?
36:31navigation
36:37D 사람이, it's in his room.
36:39P
36:39Over your hat.
36:42Drop the gun.
36:43Drop the gun now.
36:44Drop the gun.
36:516-5-2, we're making contact with one individual in Boxers.
36:5410-3-2 with a firearm.
36:55He dropped it for us and he's semi-compliant right now.
36:58We've got a couple other individuals further back on the property
37:00that haven't really communicated who we're dealing with just yet.
37:03Keep walking backwards towards us.
37:11Keep walking back.
37:15Keep walking back.
37:20Hands on your head.
37:22Do you live here?
37:23Yeah.
37:24Did you call us?
37:25Yeah.
37:26You are the one that called us.
37:27Yeah.
37:27Where are these individuals you're calling about?
37:29There are six.
37:31I think there are six total.
37:35Where are they?
37:36On the side of the trailer.
37:396-5-2, 26-1.
37:40He's advising.
37:41He's our 10-17.
37:42We're going to try to clarify what's going on.
37:45I don't know if it's mice that are inside the house and they steal stuff.
37:526-5-2.
37:53Other responding units can reduce.
37:54If you could just advise if he has any 96 history.
37:58And they have these mice that are going to their train.
38:04They were loading up whatever they could.
38:09So your family here doesn't seem too concerned.
38:11Did they see who broke in here?
38:13No.
38:13No?
38:14Just you?
38:14You're the only one?
38:15Yeah.
38:15Okay.
38:16So just since it seems like nobody else here has an understanding of what's going on that
38:20you're saying, I just want to clear up a couple things, man.
38:22Do you have any prescription or recreational drugs today?
38:25No.
38:26None?
38:26No.
38:26Okay.
38:27I got you.
38:28Did you fire the gun?
38:29No.
38:30Did you point it?
38:31No.
38:31You didn't point it at anybody?
38:33No.
38:33I don't think we did.
38:34Did you confront the people that you saw?
38:36No.
38:37All right.
38:38I'm just going to have you sit down in a patrol car, okay, for right now.
38:41You're just detained, man.
38:42You're not under arrest at the moment, okay?
38:44I'll have them grab some shoes for you right now, too, okay?
38:47Yeah.
38:48We're going to go around the gate over here.
38:49There you go.
38:52There's no signs of burglary or trespassing here.
38:55The family that was all present, they didn't observe anything that this guy is reporting to us.
38:59So because of that, we're going to treat it like a mental health crisis.
39:03We're going to be taking that firearm from this property.
39:05It's just not safe for that weapon to stay here, as this guy's showing.
39:08He's a danger to himself right now and a danger to others in his current mental state.
39:12Luckily, you know, nobody was hurt.
39:14We have no victims here.
39:16And so, you know, really a better case scenario than what it definitely could have turned into.
39:23Yeah, anytime we're coming in contact with individuals that are, like, actively armed, you know, gun in hand and stuff,
39:31it's always a difficult thing, you know.
39:33This is Arizona.
39:34And everybody owns firearms.
39:50So right now, just real quick, looks like we have someone who has their scooter stuck in the road.
39:58So we'll be flying over there to help her out and see what's going on.
40:05This is our scooter right here.
40:107-4-8-23 on the check warfare.
40:16Yo.
40:19It died on you?
40:20It died on my car.
40:23But it wouldn't make it up this hill.
40:26This dog right there.
40:28Do you have someone that can come pick you up when we push to the other side?
40:32No.
40:32I just need help getting across the street.
40:36Okay.
40:36Up on the sidewalk.
40:38Now I can make it up right now.
40:41Alright.
40:42It's in the road.
40:44Do you want to, do you think you can push it yourself and I'll stop the...
40:47Yeah, I think we can.
40:48We'll see.
40:49We'll be fine.
40:52Yeah?
40:53Alright, well.
40:54I'm just going to move the car.
40:55Alright.
40:56I'll be able to push it.
40:57We're just going to move the car so we can get the traffic clock for you.
41:17Watch your hands.
41:20You have to keep it on the sidewalk and get off.
41:32all right you think you're good there yeah yeah thank you try it try it before we leave
41:45perfect have a good night i'm gonna move my unit
41:51i'm not the most action-packed call but
41:55part of the job and stuff like that i mean it's like what do i get from it
42:01being able to help someone that's a tiny bit of gratification that i get
42:04even though it's something minor who knows how long she would have sat there if we hadn't come
42:09and help out with that good deed indeed
42:25so
42:25you
42:25Amen.
