00:00UMNO youth today questioned the government's decision to proceed with a water festival
00:06despite the cancellation of official riot open houses to save funds given the economic impact
00:12of the Iran war. Youth Chief Dr. Akmal Saleh said the Rain Rave Water Music Festival,
00:18scheduled to run from April 30th to May 2nd, should have been shelved for similar reasons.
00:25Akmal said the Wing accepted the government's decision to scrap the open houses even though
00:30such events would also have benefited the public and vendors.
00:35In a Facebook post, he questioned why the water festival was not cancelled as well, asking
00:40whether it was considered more significant than an open house.
00:43He also asked whether government austerity measures did not apply to the water festival
00:48and suggested that the event could be seen as wasteful of water.
00:52He challenged the Religious Affairs Minister and Federal Territory Mufti to state their
00:57positions on the event.
00:59He also urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to cancel the event which he described as foolish
01:04and demanded the removal of Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Tiong King Singh, who defended
01:10the water festival last week.
