00:00I became a professional singer, went through therapy for 40 years, and people go, why didn't
00:06you get help sooner? There was no help. The next therapist I went to, I spent with her for four
00:11years, and one day she lets me out and she said, oh by the way, you're a child, just like
00:18that.
00:19And I have to tell you, my entire world totally, completely changed the moment I walked out that
00:26door, because I didn't think of myself like that. I never heard about children being, that was never
00:32talked about. I'm just going to show everybody my book to start. This is my memoir, My Lost Childhood.
00:41I was able to write my story after being told to keep silent my whole life. There's nothing about
00:47my family, essentially, in the book, and that's fine. I knew this was something I had to do,
00:53because I don't want anybody to have a childhood like mine. Go to therapy. Find somebody to talk
00:59to. I don't want to leave this world in the mess that it's in, but I'd like to see this
01:04world where
01:04people are able to wake up in the morning and be whoever they want to be. There was one thing
01:10I
01:10would like to say, though, to people, young people out there. You have to be your own champion. You have
01:17to heal yourself. Nobody's going to do that for you. You have to find your way. I don't ever want
01:22to
01:22see a child go through that. Nobody should have to go through that.
