00:00I begged the courts, I begged them to keep him in jail because I knew he wasn't going to live
00:05if he came out. So they didn't. They decided to put him in a program, which they let him out
00:10of
00:10jail so he doesn't get prison. Well, nobody thought he could do it. And he did it. He went from
00:15halfway house, a hotel into a house of his own, a full-time job. He was clean. He was sober.
00:22I
00:22couldn't be happier. Everybody thought he was going to make it. He was 23 at the time. At this
00:27time, my son, he was living with two roommates and he would come over by me and go to the
00:32casino
00:32and he would win a lot of money. And I think it started to be like a new addiction. But
00:37then I
00:38was out shopping and my 14 year old son called me and said, mom, come back here. Come to the
00:41house
00:41right now. She said, he said, Dustin is here and you need to come home right now. And I didn't
00:45know
00:45what, you know, what was going on. So I went home and he just, he was running up to me
00:51in the middle
00:51of the yard and just gave me the, like the biggest hug. And he kept saying that he messed up.
00:56He said,
00:56the demons come to get him. You know, he messed up and he was self-destructing and he relapsed
01:02on, and he was just so hard on himself. And he said he was either going to go kill himself
01:07or he was going to come by me. And he said he chose to come by me. I honestly wouldn't,
01:12didn't believe that he was actually going to kill himself.
