00:02The inspiration of this design was actually from a New York love space.
00:10All the furniture here can be easily moved around the space,
00:15re-segmented by inhabitants to allow them to live in their own fruitful manner.
00:24I'm Des Chew, an interior designer from 3D Concept World in Singapore.
00:39This apartment is located in Bukit Batok, northwest of Singapore.
00:45It is quiet with lots of greeneries.
00:52The client is a social worker.
00:54She loves to do some Chinese calligraphy as well as paintings.
01:03The original apartment is a very simple one-bit room layout.
01:08As this was a new building, the kitchen and bathroom only has basic amenities.
01:14There was a small hallway that leads to a kitchen and bathroom.
01:20And also a shelter room.
01:23The bedroom and living room were divided by a partial wall and sliding door.
01:29The first thing we actually did was to remove the partition wall,
01:33so that we create a single multi-functional spaces.
01:38The storage unit was added to the bedroom area and integrated with a Murphy bed.
01:45In the kitchen, we added carpentry on both sides.
01:53The entrance of the apartment is quite compact.
01:59There's actually an electrical distribution box that's hidden behind the door.
02:06The bottom portion actually stores her shoes.
02:11There's a folding door that closes the kitchen and the living hall space.
02:16It helps to confine the aircon within the living hall.
02:23At the end of the hallway is a shelter room.
02:29Inside, the owner added some mobile racks for additional spaces.
02:39The combined space in this apartment with its living, dining and sleeping area
02:45is right at the end of the apartment.
02:50There are two large windows here that bring lots of natural light.
02:56The sofa usually sits in the middle of the room,
03:00which is perfect when watching the TV.
03:05It can be moved to the back of the apartment when a larger space is needed.
03:11All the furniture here can be easily moved around the space,
03:15depending on how the owner wants it to be used.
03:21There is a custom-made mobile table on wheels that functions as a dining table and workbench.
03:30As a dining table, four people can sit comfortably using stackable stoves
03:35and positioning the table by the bench.
03:42Below, this timber top house the remote controls and keyboards.
03:49When painting, the table can be moved to the middle of the room,
03:53so that all sides can be easily accessed.
03:59Along the wall, a custom integrated low storage bench that housed the books and household items.
04:08Floating shelves were added on the right-hand side of it.
04:12The curved shape softened this area.
04:17The same laminate was used throughout the whole apartment
04:21to keep the colours used in a more consistent manner.
04:29The whole apartment uses LED light strips around the circumferences of the walls and the cabinets.
04:38And it can tune it to become white or warm colour tones.
04:46The big storage houses a Murphy bed on the left-hand side.
04:51The top portion is a wardrobe space with a pull-down hanger.
04:57There's shelvings just right beside allows her to charge her iPads and mobile phones.
05:06To lift down the Queen Science bed, it has a hydraulic system that is inbuilt within the bed itself.
05:13It actually helps the owner easily to lift up and to lift down.
05:18Due to the structure of the windows, which is actually very close to the cabinet itself,
05:25we created a small little niche to tuck in the curtains right inside the space.
05:32The galley kitchen is by the entrance.
05:36The countertop is made of quartz, which is easy to clean and maintain.
05:42It has a very grey tone concrete feeling of it that matches the cabinet's colour tones very well.
05:53Sliding doors below maintain a spacious walkway.
05:58The owner rarely cooks so the portable cooktop was chosen so that she can store it away when not in
06:07use.
06:10On the opposite side of the counter, there is a tall cabinet that housed the fridge and the washing machine.
06:18Beside the fridge is a tall cabinet that housed the dry pantry.
06:25In the bathroom, we added a shower and a vanity.
06:31The water closet was already there.
06:34This little window, just above the water closet, allows air to flow in.
06:39And there is an IKEA vanity sink that we mounted.
06:45In small spaces, creating various functions is very important.
06:53It allows the inhabitants to shift things to work in a more effective manner,
06:59regardless whether they are staying in a huge apartment or small apartment.
07:09It would be necessary to go to anything in the classroom and so on.
