Designed by experimental architecture firm MoobArq, this unique and colourful home reflects its creative owners; maximising space for their pets, music, art classes and relaxation. By demolishing the original wall that divided the kitchen, living and dining area, MoobArq created a spacious open plan layout. Taking advantage of the high ceilings by adding a pink metal framed mezzanine area and extending cabinetry and storage to the ceiling, also allowing them to hide away a mini office space and laundry area under the rear glass ceiling. A clever gap in the main storage cabinet, along with a ledge above the bathroom door, creates a space for the cat to play; and a mobile staircase can be moved around the apartment to access everything above. With its bold colours, geometric features and clever storage solutions this apartment is a stunning blend of design and functionality tailored to the owners' specific needs.

00:04We wanted to reflect the client's personalities in the apartment design.
00:09For this project we were inspired by digital art illustration with geometric design and bold colors.
00:18The clients are an open-minded young couple, daring and willing to experiment with living in a unique home.
00:27We are passionate about researching and experimenting with the housing scale as well as playing with colors.
00:34We truly believe that more is more.
00:39We use different colors for the walls and furniture to create zones within the apartments.
00:48Depending on where you are in the apartment, the colors change around you.
01:07The apartment is located in Barrio Norte, in the city of Buenos Aires.
01:14It's a densely populated area with many old buildings and many cultural activities.
01:22The clients like to express their personalities through their clothes, hair styles, objects and pretty much everything they do.
01:32We sought to optimize the space for their activities such as music, art classes and of course relaxing at home.
01:45The apartment originally had a kitchen, living, dining room and a patio.
01:51We loved the high ceiling and thought it had great potential.
01:55We wanted to open the space so we demolished the walls that divide the kitchen, living and dining rooms to
02:02create a single space.
02:05Under the glass ceiling, we created a mini office studio and added a mezzanine bedroom above.
02:21As soon as you enter the apartment, you are able to see the entire length of the apartment.
02:28A large open space with the high ceiling.
02:32In front of the entrance, there is a dining space with a large wooden table and bench seats.
02:39It can be used as a desk or workspace and can sit up to 8 people for meals.
02:46At the corner of the space, we created a small nook for a keyboard and some floating shelves.
02:54The dog loves to have naps under the keyboard.
03:01We left the kitchen as it was, still very functional and has lots of storage.
03:08We painted this part of the room in a light color in order to separate it from the rest of
03:14the design.
03:18In the middle of the room is a white metal breakfast bar with a built-in spice rack.
03:25The client prep and eats most of their meals here.
03:34The wall in front of the fridge was painted black and works as a blackboard.
03:45The area under the glass ceiling serves multiple purposes.
03:50On one side is a music studio and on the other side is a laundry and a station of the
03:56kitchen.
03:58The glass ceiling brings a lot of natural light, which makes it a great place to work and entertain friends.
04:06The light also spills into the rest of the apartment.
04:12On the right side of the kitchen, we left the gap between the cabinets so that the cat had somewhere
04:18to play.
04:19This extends to the bathroom door, which also has a small shelf for the cat.
04:24We remove all the existing cabinet divisions and generate a large cabinet for general store space.
04:32We also took advantage of the total height of the apartment and highlight the furniture with vertical lines to make
04:40this area look more spacious.
04:46The living room is under the mezzanine as the ceiling is lower here.
04:51It creates a feeling of coziness and is a great place to lunch around with friends.
04:59There is a sofa, chair, coffee table and console units.
05:04Throughout the whole of the apartment, there are decorative items and books that belong to the clients.
05:11This gives a personal touch to the space.
05:16The mezzanine is reached by a mobile staircase on wheels.
05:21It can be moved around the apartment to access the upper areas of the apartment since all the furniture extends
05:28to the ceiling.
05:29The mezzanine is a metal frame with plaster cladding, which we painted in light pink to soften its appearance.
05:39The mezzanine was specially designed for sleeping.
05:43There is a double bed and two lamps, which we place on the wall in order not to occupy the
05:49floor space.
05:53By the window, there is a net that allows light into the living room.
05:58This net can also be used to light down or sit next to the window when watching TV.
06:05At the end of the mezzanine, we created a workshop.
06:08It helps to devise the space and offer some privacy.
06:15We painted the arch pins on the mezzanine side and green on the kitchen side to help zone the areas.
06:29The bathroom is through the yellow frame doors beside the living area.
06:36We kept the sand bath because it has sold the requirements that our clients wanted.
06:42It has been installed.
06:49Access to the patio is through a single pivoting last door by the living room.
06:55When opening extends the living area to the outside.
07:00It's a great space for the dog and cat.
07:06There are planted boxes that run around the entire edge of the patio.
07:12The plants help to bring a bit of green into the apartment.
07:19Here, in the city of Buenos Aires, many real estate developments generate oversupply with the sole purposes of profit.
07:30This creates tiny spaces without ventilation.
07:34Poorly integrated with the city, among other issues that degrade the neighborhood and therefore the city.
07:42We think it is important to update and reuse exciting spaces.
07:48To take advantage of them.
07:50And avoid demolishing and generating new buildings.
07:53The new conditions.
08:09For everyone who can Great Halls have your ultimate duty.
