00:01Previously on Seven Little Johnstons.
00:04Liz thinks that this is going to be a classy bachelorette luncheon.
00:11We're going to play porn or polish.
00:13Soft and wet.
00:14Polish.
00:15Movie.
00:16Below the belt.
00:17Movie.
00:18Grazing station.
00:19Save those for when he has the munchies.
00:24There is an incredible amount of work to get done down in the field before the wedding.
00:29I am afraid that he's going to run out of time to complete everything on the list.
00:34Do y'all know what the theme of this project is?
00:36They better live happily ever after.
00:40What's all this, Mom?
00:41Making a care package for Nana.
00:44When Mom was diagnosed with cancer several months back,
00:47she told us she was not going to treat the cancer, we're just going to let this play out.
00:52Everybody supports Nana's wishes, and we hope and pray and wish for comfort for Nana.
01:02Come on, I'm on time.
01:04Never been late for the limelight.
01:06Don't look if you're scared of the view.
01:08You ain't see nothin' like what I'ma show you.
01:11Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:15Look how pretty, Ladybug.
01:17Yeah, let's do that first.
01:18Just let her look at it all.
01:20You're flower girl dress.
01:22Look how pretty.
01:26So we are a month away from the wedding and we still have a lot left to do.
01:32We have to remove a couple of trees in the ceremony and reception area and also build
01:38the arches for our ceremony.
01:40Let me see one of the shoes.
01:41Just let her to look at the shoes.
01:43Got to warm her up.
01:44Shoes.
01:45Look how pretty.
01:46She's so pretty.
01:48I know it's shiny.
01:48She's like, mama, we don't wear these.
01:51So Leighton loves putting on dresses just as much as Elizabeth does.
01:56It is very seldom that you see Elizabeth in a dress.
01:59Dresses, therefore, are seldomly in Leighton's wardrobe.
02:02So we're trying to find one flower girl dress that Leighton is okay with the feel of it.
02:10Oh, look at Leighton.
02:12So pretty.
02:13Let's see, Ladybug.
02:15Come here.
02:15Where's Lolly?
02:17Look at your pretty shoes.
02:19No, she's going to run away.
02:20No, it's fine.
02:21Just leave her.
02:21There you go.
02:24Leighton looked absolutely beautiful in her little flower girl dress.
02:28I thought she was so adorable.
02:30And the fact that she was comfortable in it and was able to walk around, I thought it was great.
02:35And her little shoes just made it even better.
02:41Bought a basket.
02:42Oh.
02:43Hey, baby.
02:44You're going to run down that aisle with a toothbrush.
02:47The current plan for Leighton walking down the aisle as our flower girl is throwing the flower petals.
02:53Leighton, look.
02:54Ladybug, look.
02:56It went for you.
02:58Butt toddlers, you know, are unpredictable.
03:00So it really just depends on her mood and if she gets a nap or not, because it's going to
03:05be a very busy day.
03:07Let's try it.
03:08Your turn?
03:09Yeah.
03:10Yeah.
03:10Do it.
03:11Say pfft.
03:12Aw.
03:21Seeing Leighton playing with the flower petals, it just makes me more excited about the day.
03:26She's just so cute.
03:27You can't help but, like, smile at her.
03:33Look, you can pull the basket.
03:35Hold it.
03:39There you go.
03:41There you go.
03:42There you go.
03:43Yay.
03:44Yay.
03:47Good job.
03:48There you go.
03:49She's taking it out.
03:50She's taking them all out.
03:52All right, get ready.
03:53She's getting ready to throw the basket.
03:55Yep.
03:55Yep.
03:56She says, damn it.
03:58Don't put them back in there.
04:00I dumped them tints in there.
04:03Layton doesn't really understand what to do with the flower petals, but, hey, we're keeping
04:07on practicing with her.
04:09You gonna hold your basket?
04:1215 minutes.
04:15This is a big wish of Elizabeth, but Layton will be just turning two the week of the wedding,
04:23so she's very young for a flower girl job.
04:28And then are you and Bryce planning on a honeymoon?
04:31I don't know.
04:32I'm just gonna play it by ear.
04:33What's playing it by ear?
04:34Because you'll have to book something before.
04:37I don't know.
04:38I don't know.
04:38I have to think about work.
04:39I have to think about school.
04:40I have to think about y'all.
04:41I have to think about Layton.
04:42I am a little bit hesitant leaving Layton.
04:45I have never spent a night away from her.
04:48Layton's my world.
04:49She's my life.
04:50And I want to be a part of it every second.
04:53It seems like it's something every week that we need to do something.
04:56And like the honeymoon is the last thing on the mind because I'm just worried about everything
05:00going the right way on the big day.
05:10Good evening, everyone.
05:11We would like to begin by thanking...
05:14Hold on.
05:16Bryce is nervous to give this speech for the rehearsal of dinner.
05:20Alex and I decided that we were going to talk to him and give him all the pointers he needs
05:25to carry out this speech pretty well.
05:28To my parents, thank you for your love, encouragement, and guidance throughout my life.
05:34I love y'all very much.
05:37To my fiance's family, let's see.
05:43So, speeches have always made me nervous, me accidentally messing up, and then now I've got
05:51all these people laughing at me.
05:52Just looking at the whole crowd just gives me the shivers.
06:01So, let's see where I left off.
06:05To my fiance's family, I am committed to cherishing and caring for your daughter for the rest of
06:12my life.
06:15I mean, the speech link's perfect.
06:18Yeah.
06:19Just, when you can after each paragraph, I think looking up and making eye contact with
06:24people, I've got a way to help you out with the eye contact.
06:27We've got some people that we want to invite out.
06:31I'll go help you with this.
06:32Yeah.
06:34I was only ready to say the speech in front of Jonah and Alex, so I was thinking, I'm
06:39like, okay, who could this be coming out?
06:41So, these are actual scale.
06:45And they bring out cardboard pictures of them.
06:51And I just started laughing.
06:53Most of the reason, because of their faces.
06:56Amber's got, like, the whatever face.
06:58Yeah.
06:59Emma looks like she's about to throw down.
07:02Babe, you look very happy.
07:05Yeah, she looks happy to be here.
07:07I actually might not get help when I'm saying my speech.
07:10You got three of the hardest critics.
07:12And I'll give you the most important part.
07:15Oh, yeah.
07:15The most important part.
07:16The cardboard cutouts, these are more for wedding planning light.
07:20Everything's supposed to be happy, uplifting, and just supportive.
07:25Appreciate it.
07:26Yep.
07:28Just drink a lot of beer before you do this, and then it'll be good.
07:32Try to chug this down real quick.
07:34I got one just to put up with this.
07:37For my speeches, I'll make at least three or four beers.
07:40But I'm going to have to have six for me to get on the dance floor and party hard.
07:45He's perfected the perfect pocket to be in.
07:47He knows his wheelhouse.
07:49And at this wedding, I'm going to go over my wheelhouse.
07:55So, okay, I got this.
07:58Yeah, we know.
08:01So, I'll picture y'all as my parents.
08:04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
08:05And then your parents will be that way.
08:07Yeah.
08:08So, to my parents, thank you for your love, encouragement, and guidance throughout my life.
08:13To my fiancé's family, I thank you for welcoming me into your lives with open arms, kindness, and generosity.
08:21If Bryce can deliver his speech to the cardboard cutout version of Liz, he can deliver it to anybody that
08:28shows up to this wedding.
08:30And tonight, as we share this meal and these moments together, let us celebrate.
08:38Yeah.
08:38Yeah.
08:38I can read it faster.
08:39I think slower is going to be better.
08:41Yeah.
08:41If you rush through it, people are going to ask, what was said?
08:45What did he say?
08:46And remember, the rehearsal speech doesn't have to be so formal.
08:50So, I'll be like, good evening, everyone.
08:53Cheers to all the deer hunters.
08:55I know how hard it is to not be in the deer stand right now, but I greatly appreciate your
09:00generosity.
09:02Let's have fun tonight, party, live it up, and celebrate this match.
09:06Yeah, yeah.
09:08I mean, I think that would get a better reaction.
09:11Not from the three sitting right there, but.
09:17From when we started to now, I think you've already gained confidence to just go ahead on through it.
09:23When I was practicing, I was talking in front of cardboard.
09:29And even though I did really well practicing my speech, I'm still super anxious and nervous to do it in
09:37front of a big crowd.
09:39I'll practice it.
09:41Just remember, everybody's going in and arriving at your guys' wedding or dinner party with the same intentions, and that's
09:48to support you.
10:05One of the items on the wedding to-do list was a very large dead tree.
10:16The ground's a little bit soft, so when it falls and hits, hopefully it caves in, and we don't have
10:21rotten wood splatter and fly everywhere.
10:25This tree is probably going to be within 10 to 15 feet of the very large white tent that we
10:32will have for the wedding.
10:36We don't want this tree to drop a limb on the tent.
10:42We don't want anybody to get hurt.
10:50He's got to cut about two or three more notches out of it.
10:54Over a 20-year time period, I have taken out over 100 trees.
10:59Being a little person does not affect this job.
11:01The most important thing would be experience.
11:03Knowing what you're doing, no proper cuts, and have an exit plan to be able to back up and get
11:07out of the way and allow the tree to fall.
11:09But accidents happen.
11:15There has been times when I cut down a tree, and it didn't go so well.
11:20One time at our old home, we were cutting down a tree that was dead and leaning towards the road.
11:26And in the midst of pulling it with my truck, my truck caught on fire.
11:29Oh my gosh, it's fire!
11:31Hey, get out!
11:32Fire, get out!
11:33Stop, stop, stop!
11:34Hopefully, this tree removal will be easier than the one where the truck caught on fire.
11:40The only reservations we have about a tree like this, you know, a four-inch caliber limb that's 10 foot
11:45long, falling 50 foot high,
11:48that could kill someone.
11:52Let's hope it falls the right way.
12:00Yeah, this will probably be the cut.
12:03Be ready to run if that tree falls wrong.
12:09Watch out.
12:10Here it goes.
12:11Get back, everyone.
12:19Be ready to run if that tree falls wrong.
12:22We are taking this tree down because it's dead.
12:24There's no pretty leaves on it.
12:25It's just ugly looking.
12:27And it's a hazard.
12:28I don't want any branches falling on anybody at the wedding because we've had a branch fall off this tree
12:33quite a bit.
12:34So it's got to go.
12:37Yeah, this will probably be the cut.
12:42Y'all watch out.
12:43Tree's falling.
12:48Went pretty good.
12:50Woo-hoo!
12:53My dad had an accurate prediction on which way it was going to fall, and he was right.
12:57You know, it was all fun to watch the tree go down for three seconds, and then we were back
13:01to work.
13:03So let's wrap out all this stuff, get all this cleaned up.
13:07The hardest part was the cleanup after it.
13:12Holy crap.
13:16Golly, I'm out of shape.
13:19Now it's time to start cutting the trunk up into logs so we can roll them far enough out of
13:24the way.
13:27My arm's going to leak.
13:31You know, doing something this strenuous or this amount of work this close to the wedding probably is not the
13:37best idea.
13:38But this work has to be done because the wedding's not going to be put on hold.
13:47Damn, my chest is f***ing tight.
13:49Your chest?
13:50My chest is just tight.
13:52Does he have heart palpitations?
13:55Bad.
13:56Tram is cutting up the tree, and he starts having chest pains, heart palpitations.
14:01Obviously, you know, the first reaction is, like, heart attack.
14:07Chest is just tight.
14:09Heart attacks, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, that is all on his mom's side as a family.
14:16That's very, very concerning.
14:19You need to sit down because your heart rate's moving too fast.
14:21Do you need to go to the ER?
14:25The immediate thought to my mind is something really wrong.
14:29Is all this stress of the wedding, getting to him, all this planning and prepping that we've been doing,
14:33are we overdoing it for my dad?
14:35Because I also need him there to walk me down at the end of the aisle.
14:39Man, that damn, that damn drink got me rushing.
14:43My chest is tight.
14:44I ain't eating anything.
14:46About 6 a.m., Amber and I woke up.
14:48We have our coffee together.
14:49Amber's coffee is just like an asphalt patch.
14:52It's thick.
14:53Amber takes a five-pound bag of coffee and gets four coffee pots out of it.
14:57But it's like a, get going.
14:59Get it, boy.
15:00But you need food.
15:01After I was drinking that coffee, I went out, and I never did eat anything.
15:07Did you have either passed out?
15:09No.
15:10It's fine.
15:11But will you run up and grab me a Budwasher, please?
15:13No, you're not going to get that if you're feeling like that.
15:15Elizabeth, I got to finish this field for your wedding, and it's going to take a Budwasher.
15:19No, we can't eat food like normal people.
15:22We're not doing beer.
15:24It helps.
15:25No.
15:26I'm fine now.
15:28Dad wants a beer, and the beer will fix everything.
15:30No, Dad, you don't need a beer.
15:31What's wrong?
15:32Does your chest hurt?
15:33I'll be fine.
15:33I'll be fine.
15:34Too much coffee.
15:35I don't know what the hell was wrong with him, but it turns out he is fine.
15:39Let's take a walk.
15:41Bryce, come on.
15:42Everything we've done is fine, because it needed to be done, and it's going to look
15:46okay.
15:46But there's a difference between green grass and enough grass base for that ceremony.
15:52But we still have this area right here that is very nice, and it's very flat, and it's
15:56perfect size.
15:57God bless.
15:58What?
15:59We are a month out, and Trent is wanting to move where the ceremony is scheduled to be.
16:05Trent is not wanting to move.
16:07Trent is telling Bryce and Elizabeth, if the grass is not thick and lush, I want to have
16:13a backup plan.
16:14And the backup plan is just right of the original ceremony area.
16:19Well, last I checked, the people that said it makes sense to be right over there, it's
16:23what they do.
16:24When Julie was down here, she said it doesn't matter.
16:26Both spots are great, and she said it's ultimately up to Elizabeth.
16:28When we did the walkthrough, Julie said for us to put the ceremony here.
16:33Now, Dad says we should put the ceremony here instead.
16:37She also knows who she's dealing with, and people just say, you know what?
16:41I'm not going to argue with him, because I guarantee you that she would be like, you
16:44need to have it over there.
16:46I don't care.
16:47I don't care.
16:48I don't care.
16:49Just pick it.
16:51Because I don't like being the one to decide, because then it's somebody's not going to
16:55be happy at the end of the day.
16:56And then it's my fault, because I'm the one that makes the last decision, and I don't like
16:59that.
17:00I don't like to be that person.
17:01But honestly, whatever makes you guys happy, because I'm kind of done with this wedding
17:04plan and stuff.
17:06You can pull.
17:07We can't be done.
17:07We ain't even there yet.
17:18So, first thing is welcome to Elizabeth's bridal shower.
17:23Do you feel like Elizabeth is going to be surprised?
17:26Like nobody's told her yet?
17:28I hope nobody has told her.
17:30I hope this is a surprise.
17:32It's supposed to be a surprise.
17:33Since Elizabeth has been really stressed about the wedding planning, we are throwing her
17:38a bridal shower.
17:39And we're just being super casual.
17:41We're like last minute going to be like, hey, let's go meet for lunch.
17:44Not like, hey, Elizabeth, two weeks from now, let's go meet at lunch.
17:48No, because then she's going to know something is up.
17:51Even though Madison threw Elizabeth a bachelorette luncheon at Elizabeth's house, there was still
17:57a lot of work involved on Elizabeth's behalf.
17:59So we figured throwing her a surprise bridal shower, she would not have to do any work.
18:04And she would just show up, relax, and be celebrated.
18:09Shoot, I misspelled and welcome.
18:14I'm moving everything down now for two.
18:18Babe, it doesn't matter because we're going to tape it.
18:20It's not T-O-O?
18:22No.
18:22No, it's T-O.
18:25No, what we should have done is told Dad what we want this to say and let him find the
18:30letters
18:31and see how it ended up being spelled and everything.
18:34I bet you Elizabeth would have been able to read it.
18:38Overall, I think Elizabeth's fine with surprises.
18:40I just know if Emma would have went to her and said, Elizabeth, I want to give you a
18:43shower, Elizabeth would be like, no, we don't need to do that.
18:46You know, so I was like, let's keep it a surprise because Elizabeth will talk you out of it.
18:52Oh, tell me if this is even, like, if I need to go.
18:54That's what I'm saying.
18:55So just stick one corner.
18:56Now you can move this up and down until you like to love them.
18:59So I'm hoping I don't, like, slip and say something like bridal or shower if I'm, like,
19:06with Liz because I'm usually with her all the time.
19:09Just have to not think about it.
19:12So, no, yeah, you want to center.
19:14Go up higher.
19:15But don't stretch it too.
19:17No, I'm not.
19:19God, we could have been smarter and just done Liz.
19:22Oh, shoot.
19:25Now you got to go back down.
19:30There were some points in time where we were like, who the hell's bright idea this was to
19:36do this?
19:37And then I really feel like Emma and I were like, oh, when we laid it flat, we started doing
19:45the etching cream.
19:49Oh, the stencils are, like, lifting up.
19:52And it's like, oh, my God, this stuff is, these letters are going to be screwed.
19:57Like, it's just, it's going to be a hot mess.
19:59Well, if this goes through the letters.
20:02I mean, there's not much we can do.
20:04Great.
20:05This mirror was relatively expensive.
20:08Emma actually went out, bought it.
20:10So if this mirror does not work out, not only are we out some money, but I'm going to have
20:15one pissed off 20-year-old at this bridal shower.
20:19Hmm.
20:20What?
20:21There's, like, chunks of stuff.
20:23Hopefully that's not, like, shards of glass.
20:37We're needing some wood for some wedding arches.
20:39She's the bride, I'm the carpenter.
20:42We are picking out lumber for Elizabeth and Bryce's wedding arches.
20:47Should we call it beauty lumber?
20:48This is your pick.
20:49I'm here to just assist.
20:50No, no, no, no, I'm not getting married.
20:52Just like with any other project, picking out wood is picking out wood.
20:57Smells like trees, looks like trees.
20:59Same old, same old.
21:00I'm sure Bryce would love to hear that.
21:03It is.
21:05Picking out wood is picking out wood.
21:09So when we build this arch, we need to build it out in the circle of the driveway.
21:13That's the flattest area.
21:15We've got a level stones, too.
21:17Lay sod, level stones, and...
21:19Concrete, polymeric, whatever stuff.
21:21Polymeric sand.
21:22Hopefully we can hurry up and get some of these final projects knocked out.
21:27We can focus on Nana.
21:28Otherwise, we just have to put on everything on hold.
21:31For the past six months, Nana has been in hospice care.
21:35But over the last five or six days, Nana has declined very quickly.
21:39We are definitely nearing the end of life.
21:41These next few days are going to be tough.
21:45It's just the hard part of just waiting.
21:47It's hard to watch her not be responsive like our typical Nana.
21:53The last three days, she has been nonverbal and has not been able to communicate with us.
22:01Here at the end, I don't want her to...
22:03I don't want to see her suffer.
22:04I don't want to...
22:05That's what the whole purpose is, her end-of-life care, is to ease it off.
22:12Just comfort care.
22:14When she got the results back that she has stage four metastatic cancer, and her saying,
22:20I don't want to fight it, I don't want the treatment, that was very brave of her to make
22:25that decision.
22:26And now seeing her coming to the end of this battle, it brings us at peace because this
22:32is what she wanted.
22:33But this is definitely the hardest part, watching my dad go through this because my
22:37poppy passed away and now he's losing his mom.
22:40So really, everybody's just kind of thinking about dad.
22:42She was good to y'all.
22:44She was.
22:45Listen to this real quick.
22:47I have this one saved.
22:49Hey, this is your Nana.
22:50It's Monday at 2.30.
22:52I was just calling to see how you and my little granddaughter were getting along.
22:58So I love you.
22:59Bye.
23:01As much as you're able to prepare for the loss of a family member, especially during
23:05a terminal illness like Nana's, it is tough.
23:08As much as you can prepare and understand what's going on.
23:12You know, these final days are, they're challenging and terribly sad.
23:22You know, it kind of helps to stay busy and do things during a time like this.
23:29For me, at least, it does.
23:31Absolutely.
23:34I do think dad working on the wedding has definitely helped him, like, process the grief
23:38and help him get through this hard time because it just gives him something to take his mind
23:42off of things.
23:42And I think that's good for him just so he's not in a constant, like, state of grief.
23:46Like, it's good for him to get out and do something.
23:49You know, even if Nana was able to live all the way up to your wedding, I don't think
23:54that she would be capable of making it to the wedding.
24:06Go!
24:12What's up?
24:12What club is that?
24:14Just practicing with the seven.
24:15So, a couple weeks ago, I met up with Rance to show him the clubs that we chose for him.
24:21Ta-da!
24:22These are sick!
24:23And over the last couple weeks, I have been working on them to modify, to fit him, and
24:28I'm looking forward for him to try them out again.
24:32Oh, yeah.
24:35Seven.
24:36That's a seven?
24:36Mm-hmm.
24:38How's the grips?
24:39The grips are looking good.
24:41Yeah.
24:42It's been a long time coming, 15 years to be exact, in which I have been playing with
24:46kids' golf clubs.
24:47But today, that all changes.
24:49If we go back to your new seven, old seven, we're looking at a significant difference.
24:56Yeah, in length.
24:57So, do a comparison.
25:00Yeah.
25:01It's a big difference.
25:03His old junior set, he was striking 90 to 100.
25:08Let's see.
25:15There it is.
25:16That sounded good right there.
25:22They feel great.
25:23The shaft feels great.
25:27Really nice.
25:29With the new seven iron that I modified and adapted for him, he averaged 145, 150.
25:36That's a significant difference.
25:42He landed just before that 150.
25:45There was four average-sized men.
25:485'10", 5'9", 6'0", and Rance was out driving them.
25:55So, right now, what's the biggest change you see?
25:57The feel.
25:58The feel and the weight of the club are the two biggest changes.
26:02Just like when I'm wearing tailored clothes that fit perfectly to my body, having a set of clubs that are
26:08made perfectly for my swing speed and my height just gives me that extra level of sauce and confidence to
26:14play my best golf.
26:18Damn, dude.
26:19Wow.
26:21Anytime I have the ability or the knowledge to make adaptions for my community, it's a good feeling.
26:27And we don't stop at golf.
26:29Whether it's stools in the kitchen, stools in the restroom, anytime we can assist and make adaptions for a load
26:35of people, I can help.
26:36It's just a great feeling.
26:37I mean, it's the life we live.
26:42Woo!
26:43Woo!
26:44Woo!
26:45Woo!
26:45Woo!
26:47Woo!
26:47Woo!
26:48Woo!
26:48Woo!
26:53Woo!
26:55Should we put all the cookies on here or no?
26:57Yes.
26:59There's been several times we almost blew the surprise.
27:04She saw Emma and I talking, so she's like, what are y'all talking about?
27:07Yeah, we had to lock up flowers in the bathroom, so we had to make a lie and say that
27:11the toilet was broke.
27:12Well, who stopped up the toilet?
27:13I'm like, just quit asking questions.
27:15Just quit.
27:20Emma texted me and she was like, me and mom want to meet you at Honeywood to just go over
27:23all the little wedding details one more time.
27:25Do you want to wait for lunch?
27:26And I was like, oh yeah, sure.
27:28So, Elizabeth thinks she's coming here because it's a wedding thing, but not a like stressful wedding thing.
27:34You know, just kind of, hey, you know, this is what we have left.
27:38It's just, you know, making sure we have enough food for guests and decorations and all the fun stuff.
27:43And hopefully just be done with the list after this lunch.
27:47Is that in the center?
27:52No.
27:54No.
27:55No.
27:58Ashley.
28:00Really?
28:02I'm in town for Elizabeth's bridal shower because Emma, she's like, I need you here.
28:09So, the reason was to come support Emma, but also to see Elizabeth and Jonah too.
28:14But mainly for this one.
28:17Mainly me.
28:17Mainly Emma.
28:18And then we need a picture of us three.
28:20We can do it right here.
28:21We'll get it in front of the thing, yeah.
28:24So, the mirror turned out great.
28:26It was very much worth the work.
28:30I think we were really relieved that it turned out as pretty and as well as it did.
28:38Hey.
28:40Hey.
28:40Aw.
28:42We made it.
28:42So sweet.
28:43I know.
28:44Thank you all so much.
28:45Absolutely.
28:45It's so cute.
28:48Here, you can just set that.
28:50I would say a high top table, but she's short.
28:52So, we'll just do them right here.
28:55That's what we'll do.
28:55Thank you so much.
28:57When I heard that Bryce and Liz were a couple, I was super excited.
29:01Just for that side of the family.
29:03Just any kind of girl power over there is needed.
29:07That's the truth.
29:07And she brings a lot to the table.
29:10So, I'm super excited for them.
29:11She does.
29:12Oh, yeah.
29:13Meeting her.
29:13I love her to death.
29:15Sweetheart.
29:16It's a surprise, right?
29:17Yes, it is.
29:18Okay.
29:19You know, I text her all the time, but I don't think I said anything.
29:23Mm-hmm.
29:25There is a lot of people invited to this, and you know, I did not make a big deal on
29:30the invitation.
29:31The invitation literally at the end of the invitation says, let's surprise Elizabeth.
29:38So, hopefully, the secret has been kept secret.
29:44Does she look surprised?
29:51Live it up.
29:52Live it up.
29:53Don't get stuck.
29:54We all at the party.
29:55Turn it all the way up.
29:57I think I've seen her.
30:06There's Elizabeth.
30:08There's Elizabeth.
30:10There's Elizabeth.
30:10What the heck?
30:18Hey.
30:20Hi.
30:23I thought I was just coming here just to have lunch with Mom and Emma.
30:27Emma said, dress nice.
30:28And I'm like, okay, because sometimes Emma just likes to go out dressed up.
30:31I was not thinking that this was a surprise for me for the wedding.
30:35I had no idea.
30:36You were super sneaky.
30:39I just saw her yesterday.
30:41I kept his lips heel tight.
30:45This is all for you, Liz.
30:48No, I had no idea.
30:49Y'all did good.
30:50Very good.
30:51You did very good.
30:52Is that what y'all were whispering about yesterday?
30:55Yes, we were actually.
30:57Good job, Emma.
31:00She was in shock because she was like, who are all these people doing here?
31:03And she had no clue.
31:05Clearly, Bryce had no idea this was going on.
31:08Yes, he did.
31:08He did?
31:09Yeah, he knows.
31:10It does.
31:10Because he looks at me and he's like, well, wow, you look nice.
31:13And I was like, I was told to wear a dress.
31:15I was very happy.
31:17It was super sweet.
31:18I was just very shocked that they planned it so well.
31:20I genuinely had no idea that this was going on.
31:23Literally, my mind has been on finishing all the field work for the wedding,
31:27finalizing all the little wedding details.
31:29What colors are you using, Liz?
31:31Greens, creams, the reds and oranges and fall colors.
31:37My advice to the bride and groom is that happy wife, happy life.
31:41So as long as Bryce keeps making Liz happy, I think the marriage will be golden from there.
31:46Did you get that from me?
31:47Yes.
31:48I learned from the best.
31:51Kitchen towels.
31:53Yes, Layton loves pulling these off my oven.
31:56I love these.
31:57Mama don't need to see these or else she's going to steal these.
32:00And the fishing lures.
32:01Bryce is going to be so happy.
32:02Yeah.
32:02I picked them out based on which ones were cute.
32:05Which were cute?
32:06Like pretty colors.
32:07I just told her we had to put something for him in there.
32:10I think in five years their house will have way too many fish on the wall.
32:15So either deer or fish.
32:17Deerheads.
32:18Deerheads.
32:18Deerheads.
32:19Entirely too much camo.
32:22There's a nail polish in there.
32:23You want to guess what name it is?
32:25Oh my God, is it really?
32:26Oh God.
32:27So at my bachelorette party, we played a game.
32:30It was called porner polish.
32:31You would not believe some of the nail polish names there are out there.
32:34Yes.
32:36Oh, getting naughty on my honeymoon.
32:39Oh.
32:41There you go.
32:43My wish and hope for them is just to live the rest of their lives together.
32:49And have more babies.
32:51More babies.
32:52Cause Mama Bee loves those babies.
32:54And I'm hoping they're going to have more children.
32:57I agree.
32:59And then rehearsal, everybody is welcome.
33:02You don't have to just be in the wedding party to come.
33:06She wants pizza and wings before the rings.
33:10The wedding is almost here.
33:12We're a little over three weeks away.
33:15And I mean, I am definitely excited.
33:17It's just one of these things that the worry sets in, in regards to like the weather.
33:22Cause there really is no plan B.
33:26So, is it supposed to rain?
33:28We don't know.
33:29I mean, we're too far out.
33:30You don't know.
33:31Oh.
33:42Do you want to give your groomsmen on the day of like funny socks or do cufflinks?
33:47Not cufflinks.
33:49Not for an outdoor wedding.
33:50Those are made to be very formal.
33:53You know, Nana has definitely been declining.
33:56And the hospice social worker has let us know that, you know, the end is coming.
34:03We have all been taking turns being by her bedside.
34:07Currently, Trent and Alex are up there at the nursing home.
34:10And the rest of us are at the house, you know, waiting for the call.
34:15But in the meantime, we're just kind of keeping our minds occupied and talking about wedding details.
34:21It's a fun socks it is.
34:22Do you want beer theme, hunting theme, fishing theme?
34:28Hello?
34:30Hi.
34:54Bryce and Elizabeth make it?
34:56Yeah.
34:57Bryce and Liz are here.
34:58Emma and Jonah are here.
35:01Nana just passed away about 3 or 4 minutes ago.
35:10She did?
35:11Yep.
35:15She's gone.
35:19Amber and I were visiting this morning,
35:21and we were there for about an hour and a half, two hours,
35:23and we had a good visit.
35:25And I was home for about two hours.
35:27Hospice called and asked me if I could come on back,
35:30that Nana was transitioning to end of life.
35:34So Alex rode back with me.
35:36Alex and I watched her take her last few breaths.
35:39Bless her heart, her mouth was just open,
35:41and she just, I mean, it didn't, she didn't do anything.
35:44Yeah, like she's no longer suffering.
35:48I go back again to losing Poppy
35:51and then finding out about Nana's cancer diagnosis.
35:54I guess it did prepare us, which both of them always
35:58said that you're not supposed to live longer than your kids.
36:02And there's a lot of truth to that,
36:03and I hope that's the case for us as well.
36:06So Nana passing away, it does give the family some closure,
36:10but it's never easy losing a parent.
36:16She don't look any different right now.
36:18Yeah.
36:19This is a new one for me and Alex together.
36:21I just hugged him and loved him.
36:22I said, you and I won't forget this moment together.
36:24No.
36:26The one positive is that her suffering is over.
36:28She'll be going to heaven with Poppy
36:30and everybody else up there.
36:32So that's what's helping me get through this.
36:35All right.
36:35I love you.
36:36I love you.
36:37Bye.
36:42Well, you guys heard it, Dad.
36:44Yeah.
36:44Yeah.
36:45Yeah.
36:48At least she won't be suffering no more.
36:49She's going to be in the happiest place.
36:53Yeah.
36:54I mean, I think, too, for all of us, the fact that she's been in the nursing home for six
36:59months
36:59has given us time to kind of prepare ourselves.
37:03Because I think these last couple of days, especially, have been tough to watch Nana.
37:10Yeah.
37:12From last week, being coherent, talking, to this week, not really saying anything.
37:20Typical Nana would be asking us questions about boyfriends, girlfriends, school.
37:25We really didn't get that out of her for the last six months, honestly.
37:29So I think we're now just kind of relieved that the hard part for her is over.
37:34How are you doing?
37:36We both had a moment there for a second.
37:39Mm-hmm.
37:40I think she knew we were there.
37:42Yeah, I think so, too.
37:44You know, losing Trent's mom, it's difficult.
37:47This is the first time that we have all been a part of watching someone, you know, slowly
37:54fade away and definitely prepared us.
37:57And we got to spend some good times with Nana.
37:59But Trent got a little emotional with Alex.
38:02Just all of those emotions of what they just witnessed.
38:06And I'm really glad that Alex was there to, you know, to be with him and that Alex handled
38:13it as well as he did.
38:16I'm not going to do Nana's eulogy.
38:18I'm going to let one of my sisters do it.
38:20But if any of you guys would like to write something and say something, you're welcome
38:24to do so.
38:25I have a whole thing wrote out prepared.
38:27Read us what you want.
38:28Oh, you want me to read the whole thing?
38:29Yeah.
38:29Okay.
38:30Nana killed each of our lives with love and kindness, especially with her grandkids.
38:36I love you.
38:37Her kindness is the kind that will stay with you forever.
38:41When knowing our Nana, you knew that life with her was never boring.
38:44Nana's the one that's been doing pelvic thrust the longest so she should know.
38:57And then there was Nana's unique wisdom.
39:00She taught us things you won't find in any book, like how to movie hop, buy one ticket
39:05and get maybe one or two for free.
39:08Some may call this illegal, but we just say that's just our Nana.
39:12We were super grateful, you know, to have Nana for the last six months.
39:15We got to spend the time with her, tell her how much we love her and tell our final goodbyes.
39:21And anyone who has met Nana will definitely know that she is a lady that you'll never forget.
39:27I'm thankful that Poppy asked me to marry him because by doing that, I'm blessed with
39:35all of y'all.
39:36Yeah.
39:37And you can't get any better than that.
39:39Amen.
39:42Nana, thank you for the laughter, the lessons, and the love.
39:45We will miss your voice, your cooking, your wit, your sugars, and your hugs.
39:49You will always be remembered.
39:51You will always be loved.
39:57You know, as sad as it is for the loss of Nana, it's very important that we all still stay
40:07focused
40:08and come together as a family and make sure that we all do our best to pull this waiting
40:13off for Bryce and Elizabeth.
40:24Next time on Seven Little Johnstons.
40:28They were pretty, but she had every color.
40:30Nana had hydrangea bushes, so we are going to have us a little planting to remember Nana.
40:37I'm hoping Nana will cast down her love and her sunshine that she always brought.
40:42Just imagine where we'll be in like seven, eight more years.
40:46Two or three kids then.
40:49I told Bryce that we would start trying after the wedding.
40:52We'll give her one more sibling.
40:54You never know.
40:55We just might have twins next.
40:58We're going to get this rehearsal started.
41:00The weather for the big day showed some light showers at 12 a.m.
41:04We were like, it'll dry up afterwards.
41:10We got our rehearsal.
41:11We got our dinner done.
41:13By the time we were ready to wrap up, we are raining.
41:19All of this has been ruined within two hours.
