Court martial of Nigerian officers accused of coup plot to resume in May

The court martial of three dozen Nigerian officers charged with planning to overthrow the government will resume next month, local officials said on Monday.

00:24The court martial was inaugurated Friday with 36 officers brought before the newly sworn injustice for the opening of the
00:31proceedings held at a military installation in the capital, Abuja.
00:35The next seating will also be behind closed doors with no media access.
00:40Separately, six civilians are also on trial this week at Abuja's Federal High Court for their alleged role in the
00:47plot.
00:47They have all pleaded not guilty.
00:50Nigeria has seen several military takeovers in its history and spent much of the 20th century under Junta rule after
00:58its independence from Britain in 1960.
