Nigerian court adds terrorism charges to allegations facing ex-justice minister Malami

A Nigerian court on Tuesday slapped terrorism charges on embattled former justice minister Abubakar Malami, who is also facing allegations of financial crimes.

00:00A court in Nigeria has added terrorism charges to the allegations facing former Justice Minister Abu Bakr Malami.
00:09Malami served as Attorney General and Justice Minister from 2015 to 2023.
00:15He was previously accused of laundering some $6 million alongside his wife and son.
00:23On Tuesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja charged him with knowingly abetting terrorism financing by refusing to prosecute people
00:32suspected of backing insurgents.
00:36Malami and his son were also charged with engaging to commit acts of terrorism by having an unlicensed pistol and
00:44ammunition at his home.
00:46Malami was granted bail last month in the money laundering case, but was re-arrested shortly after his release.
00:54He's the latest top official of former President Mohamedou Buhari to face trial for fraud.
