00:00Hey y'all, I hope you're doing well and welcome back to another Nitecore Store video.
00:04My name is Josh and today I'm so excited to be looking with y'all at the NW5000.
00:08As the name implies, this is going to be a 5,000 mAh power bank,
00:12which is going to be compatible with all wireless charging products.
00:15As well as that, because of that smart USB-C and low current charging modes,
00:19this is probably going to be one of the most versatile out there as well.
00:38And now let's take an up-close look at the NW5000.
00:42This front panel and these sides are all going to be crafted out of this kind of carbon fiber scaling,
00:47which I really like the look of, especially when the light hits it just right.
00:52And then around back here is going to be this soft matte silicon,
00:55which is going to be able to grip onto your phone while not scratching the finish.
01:00which I really like, you know, not having a scratched phone.
01:03And then down here at the bottom of the battery pack,
01:05we're going to have four battery indicator lights
01:07that will show how much charge is left in the battery pack with the key on screen here.
01:12And there's going to be a fifth one.
01:14So once you attach this to a device,
01:17that white one above the original blue 4 is going to light up to show that it is wirelessly charging.
01:23And then continuing to look down here at the bottom of the device,
01:26we're going to have this smart two-way USB-C port
01:28to where you can either plug in your power and charge up this device.
01:32Or if you need to charge something else, like let's say a flashlight,
01:36you can plug in a USB-C here and it will know that it is trying to discharge
01:40and it will expel power through this USB-C port as well.
01:44And lastly, down here beside the USB-C port is going to be this operation button,
01:49which is going to be how you switch between the modes of this power bank.
01:53And lastly here, the only thing that's going to be included with your purchase of the NW5000
01:57is going to be the NW5000, the box, and a user manual,
02:01of which I kind of wish they would have included a USB-C cord.
02:04And just as some final notes on the NW5000,
02:07it's going to have an effective yield of 3000 mAh.
02:10And with most modern phones having around a 3200 mAh capacity,
02:14this will be able to effectively charge your phone up to around 90-95%.
02:18And while I do keep showing iPhones,
02:20this magnetic power bank will charge anything that's compatible with magnetic charging.
02:24So make sure to check your phone for compatibility.
02:26And that brings up another good point.
02:28You can actually have a case on your phone while using this power bank.
02:31You just need to make sure it has a magnetic ring to ensure a stable connection.
02:35And now for my personal thoughts of the NW5000.
02:39First off, whenever I got my hands on this,
02:41I was surprised at how lightweight and small,
02:43and especially how thin it really is.
02:46Whenever you get into your bigger power banks,
02:48like your 5000s and your 10,000 mAh,
02:51they tend to get a little bit more bulky.
02:53However, once I attach this onto my phone,
02:55it just feels like pretty much the same thickness just on this part right here.
02:59And so I can tell that there is a lot of technology
03:02and a lot of bang for your buck that you're getting
03:04because of how compact and how dense this power is.
03:08Another thing is once this battery pack is on,
03:10it is staying on.
03:12It is surprisingly strong to the back of my phone.
03:14It doesn't slip off.
03:15I can shake it just holding the power bank,
03:18and it's not coming off.
03:22And on top of that, one thing that this allows me to do
03:28is have a USB-C rechargeable phone
03:31because this battery pack can charge the phone
03:33while itself is being charged,
03:35meaning that I don't have to spend any more money
03:37on lightning adapters that break constantly.
03:40And as well as that, I can set this on my bedside
03:43and then slap my phone on top of it overnight.
03:46And if I want to bring a power bank with me,
03:48whether it be to work, on a trip, or something like that,
03:51I can take the power bank with me.
03:52Or if not, just leave it on my bedside
03:55and have this be a lightning adapter to a USB-C,
03:58which is awesome.
03:59I love it.
04:00The one real drawback that I see to this power bank
04:03is going to be the asking price at $70
04:05because just because you are cheaper than Apple
04:07does not mean that you are inherently affordable.
04:10There are going to be a fair amount
04:11of 5,000 milliamp hour battery packs out there.
04:14They are going to be more affordable than this.
04:16However, from my research,
04:17I couldn't find any that are going to be as compact
04:20that come with the same features like low current
04:22and the fact that it's able to charge itself
04:24while charging your phone.
04:26And so if you want those features,
04:28it's going to be up to you.
04:29But I cannot say that I am disappointed by this at all.
04:32It works completely as advertised
04:34and I think that you get a lot of bang for your buck
04:36out of this power bank.
04:37And now how to operate this power bank.
04:39And while it is very versatile,
04:41operating it is going to be pretty straightforward.
04:43In order to check on the battery percentage,
04:45you can simply single click this button right here
04:48and it will display how much is left
04:49and the white light will flash
04:51letting you know that it's going to be checking
04:53for any wireless charging devices.
04:55And then to begin charging with the NW5000,
04:58all you have to do is start by plugging in
05:00a USB-C cord to the back here
05:02and then plug the other end into whatever device you want.
05:05I chose the EDC-33 here
05:08and you can see it will start charging.
05:11However, if you want to charge something small
05:12or delicate like earbuds,
05:14all you have to do is double press the mode button
05:16and then you will see that the battery indicator light
05:19will turn into a chaser light
05:21where they follow each other along this ring here.
05:24Mean that you are in low current mode
05:26and it will automatically swap out of low current mode
05:29after two hours.
05:31However, because this is the EDC-33,
05:33it's going to be a little bit more beefy
05:35to swap out of the low current mode.
05:37All you have to do is single press the button here
05:39and it will return to its normal output.
05:42And then for this to act as a wireless charging power bank,
05:44it's pretty simple.
05:45All you have to do is slap it on the back,
05:47it'll stick on
05:48and it'll automatically start charging your device.
05:50And with the NW5000 attached,
05:53it can either discharge or take in charge.
05:55And so if I were to plug in an outside power source,
05:58you can see that the battery indicator lights
06:00will reflect that
06:02and then your iPhone will begin to charge
06:04off of the NW5000 power
06:07and the NW5000 will be taking in power as well.
06:11And on top of that,
06:13it will also discharge both ways.
06:15And so if I were to plug in this USB-C port right here
06:19and then plug it into the EDC-33,
06:23you can see that not only is it going to be charging
06:26the EDC-33,
06:27but also charging the phone as well.
06:31And now for my favorite part,
06:32the specs,
06:33which I have on screen now
06:34and I'm not going to read them out
06:36as there is going to be so many,
06:37I do not want to bore y'all.
06:39On top of that,
06:40there's going to be just as many protections,
06:42which I am also not going to read,
06:43but you can see on screen.
06:45And then just in terms of dimensions,
06:47it's going to be 2.65 inches by 3.93 inches
06:50and then have a thickness of 0.42 inches.
06:53As well as that,
06:54it's going to have a weight of 4.23 ounces
06:57or 120 grams.
06:59This is going to have an IPX5 wire resistance rating.
07:03And even though they didn't give us a drop resistance,
07:05I have dropped this plenty of times
07:07and it hasn't stopped working yet.
07:08So I'm going to call it good enough on that front.
07:11As well as that,
07:12this is going to be UN38.3 compliant,
07:15meaning that it's going to be airline safe
07:17for all your travels.
07:18Well guys,
07:19that's going to be about all my thoughts
07:20on the NW5000,
07:22the newest power bank coming from Nightcore.
