00:00Welcome back everybody, thank you for watching another video.
00:03So tonight we're going to have a look at this awesome pair of pocket binoculars from US
00:07Camel.
00:13Also, before starting, just want to thank the good folks out at US Camel for sending
00:17me this pair of binoculars to review.
00:19Let's get started.
00:20In the box you get a carry pouch, in the back you got a little belt loop there, user manual,
00:25you also get a lens cleaning cloth, a pair of binoculars that also has a lanyard on
00:30it.
00:30All right, let's take some quick measurements here, going across this way with the binoculars
00:34closed up all the way, coming in and what you guys think, about two, two and three quarters?
00:40Yeah, let's say two and three quarters closed.
00:43Open up.
00:45What do we got opened up?
00:47Just about, eh, just about four and a quarter.
00:52Open up all the way.
00:55And then overall length, and about three and three quarters.
01:03And just to give you a size reference on how small these pocket binoculars are, here it
01:08is next to this delicious chocolate doughnut.
01:15Just to give you an idea for how big the 21mm objective lenses are, put this quarter right
01:20on there, so it pretty much covers the lens.
01:23And to have a look at the eyepiece end, this should fit pretty much on the inside of it.
01:29Yup, there you go.
01:31All right, these lanyards are detachable here, but they are not removable from the pair of
01:35binoculars themselves.
01:36It is just kind of embedded in there.
01:38But I am going to remove these so we can have a look at what this is going to look
01:42like
01:42when you got them in your pocket.
01:44Here we go.
01:45I promise you this is not a magic trick, but that just disappears.
01:50And that's why you call them pocket binoculars.
01:53All right, let's get this on the scale so you get an idea for how much weight you are going
01:57to be adding into your pocket or into your pack system.
01:59So I got 6.6 ounces, and just in case you are wondering, that weighs almost as much as
02:05two full decks of cards.
02:08All right, let's take a quick tour around the US Camo 8x21 pocket pair of binoculars.
02:14So as we can see here, we have a nice rubberized finish on the barrels here.
02:20On the barrels.
02:23All right, let's take a quick tour around the US Camo 8x21 pair of pocket binoculars.
02:28As we can see here around the barrels, we have a nice rubberized finish, feels really
02:34good in the hands.
02:35Again, we have a 21mm objective lens.
02:38You can see that green full multi-coated lens there, 8x magnification.
02:45Single bridge.
02:46This is your focus knob.
02:47On the right hand side, we do have a diopter for focusing your right eye.
02:51We'll go over that in just a second.
02:54Again, lanyard permanently attached to the pair of binoculars at this point.
02:58But it is removable with these plastic clips here.
03:04And we also have two hinges on the side of the bridge here that allows these pair of binoculars
03:08to fold down to such a compact size.
03:11And because we have straight barrels on both sides here, this is a roof prism pair of binoculars.
03:16Now, to properly focus this pair of binoculars, what you have to do first is you're going
03:21to close down your right eye, open up your left eye, look down this barrel, and adjust
03:26the focus with the center knob here.
03:29And once you've got that into focus, you're going to close down your left eye, open up
03:33your right eye, and use the diopter here to focus your right eye.
03:37Once they're both into focus, you'll be set to use these.
03:41All right, before moving to the outdoor demonstration, I just want to clarify a couple of the terms
03:46used in the description of these binoculars.
03:49So the first thing you're going to see is BAK4 prism.
03:52That's not a prism.
03:53BAK4 is a type of glass used to make the prism.
03:56This is a roof prism pair of binoculars.
03:58Now there's a couple of different grades of BAK4.
04:01This is probably not going to be the high end type of glass we're going to find in higher
04:05end models.
04:05The second thing is the use of FMC or fully multi-coated lenses.
04:10As we can see here, there are coatings here.
04:14But unfortunately, there is no industry standard for fully multi-coated lenses.
04:19Now the main thing we're looking for is when we look through these eyepieces, when we're
04:23looking down the barrels here, do we have a crisp image?
04:26And most importantly, do we have any weird color apparitions around the edges of the object
04:31that we're looking at?
04:32If everything is great, it doesn't really matter.
04:34Here.
04:35Let's give it a look.
04:36All right.
04:37Here is the target that we're going to be looking at from 60 feet, 120 feet and 275 feet
04:43away.
04:43This inside circle here is about 12 inches across.
04:47Now keeping in mind when we're watching these videos, it's through the camera on my phone.
04:51It's not going to be an accurate representation on the clarity of these lenses, but instead it's
04:56going to give you a very good representation of what it's looked like at eight times at 60
05:01feet, 120 feet and 275 feet away.
05:04So again, the images aren't going to be the crispest, but in my opinion, the images that
05:09I saw were absolutely fantastic for a budget pair of binoculars.
05:13Let's give it a look.
05:15All right.
05:15Here we go.
05:1660 feet away.
05:17Apologize about the vignetting on the upper left and right hand corner.
05:20It's really hard to keep the camera steady.
05:23Also, it looks like there's color fringing on the bottom left, but there's really not.
05:27But the target looking really, really great.
05:28We're going to see that fringing disappear.
05:31Here we are 120 feet away.
05:33Target's still looking good.
05:35Again, that's not color fringing on the left.
05:37That's the camera trying to focus in on the target.
05:40When it does, it kind of blurs out everything on the left and the right, so we can't really
05:45see that.
05:45But the target's looking really good.
05:47And then here, 275 feet away, we see that the color fringing on the left kind of goes
05:51back and forth.
05:52Again, that's just the camera shifting back and forth.
05:54But really clear, very crisp images coming out of this really budget pair of binoculars.
06:00Once again, guys, this has been the pair pocket binoculars by US Camo 8x21.
06:05If you're looking for a great pair of budget binoculars for your kids, or if you just need
06:09something to stash away in your backpack or your car, this might be a great option for
06:13you.
06:15I'll catch you in the next video.
