00:03how we doing everybody it's tyler ward here aka wardy to many of you guys already know me here
00:08on youtube and our latest straight out of flushing breaking news segment here covering
00:12all things new york mets normally myself and dexter henry but today we're riding solo because
00:17yes francisco lindor as we saw rounding third getting to home yesterday went down with injury
00:23and we come to find out after mri results have revealed carlos mendoza and lindora both spoke
00:28to media today and they have made it known that yes francisco is not coming back anytime soon the
00:33terrible news for the mets continues as not only did they drop 12 consecutive ball games but how
00:38fitting in the same day that juan soto finally returns from ailment is the same day that a
00:43sulfur soul is passed if you will yet again by these baseball guides smiting these new york
00:48mets as lindor goes down with injury the same exact day and not only did lindor and soto both go
00:53down
00:53with respective calf strains but according to met skipper carlos mendoza this is a more
00:58prominent injury we're dealing with than what soto's was lindor said in his pre-game interview
01:03today with the media getting set for the game three matchup between the twins and the mets with
01:08christian scott towing the rubber for his season debut lindor made it known that he doesn't really
01:12want to think or talk about the grade of his strain he doesn't really want to have that in his
01:16mind right now because it's messing with his head so it goes without saying francisco is not only
01:21deflated as an iron man who loves to play through injury this is the same guy a couple years ago
01:25that
01:26basically broke his middle finger getting it jammed in a doorway after first landing in la for a west
01:32coast trip and only missed one game that entire season because of that exact same injury okay
01:36lindor prides himself on playing every day you can tell that he's not himself when he's not in the
01:41lineup the way that he wants to be and now he's going to be out likely for at minimum the
01:45next couple
01:45months which is terrible news if you're a mets fan because on the same day that you get one soto
01:50back
01:50who we can all agree is a greater certainty a greater level of comfortability when looking at
01:55surefire offense every single day in this lab juan soto is the only mets hitter this year who
01:59has recorded a hit in every single game he also had himself a nice little fly out to move bichette
02:06to
02:06third to get him to score in the first eventually he had himself a single and a walk in his
02:10first game
02:11back for the new york mets this season he is the only certainty of a guy that essentially gets on
02:15base
02:15pretty much on average half of his at bats every single time up there or close to at least okay
02:19now having soto back is great but it was 10 times better when you had francisco and door to pair
02:24along
02:24with them so now there are a lot of questions that arise but it includes juan soto and the level
02:29of
02:30pressure that's now going to be on his shoulders because there was already a lot of pressure as is
02:33for a mets team that lost 12 consecutive ball games without him the mets will have to do something
02:37no major league team base no major league team and baseball has done in history this year if they
02:42want to make playoffs and that's to actually right the ship and come back from that 12 game losing
02:47skid and currently eight games below 500 no team in major league baseball history has ever made
02:51postseason play while having a 10 game losing streak in the season so for juan soto not only does he
02:56have
02:56a daunting task to try to get this team right when it is not justified to look look at him
03:00and say that
03:01all the pressure is on his shoulders but it's hard to not view it as such because the mets failed
03:04so
03:04miserably to actually make it be viewed as otherwise i mean colis mendoza constantly missed the mark
03:10with his in-game managerial decisions you had the mets themselves dragging their feet with the
03:14worst offense in baseball for the past two and a half three weeks of not the entire season there's
03:19been a lot of discouraging things going on in mets land and guys not even back with injury including
03:23not just obviously on this lower level jared young who is productive in limited sample sizes
03:28mike talkman who was out before the season began when he was a lefty bat they were really looking to
03:32consider at the each off the bench playing time in the outfield with bench but then you have
03:36obviously jorge polanco your switch hitter who should have been placed on the injury list as
03:40soon as the season began but the mets waited two and a half weeks to do it the reason why
03:43i
03:43mentioned these things is because now you look at what's happening with juan soto and you look at
03:47this met slot up even with the ronnie mauricio call up and he's going to get a lot of runway
03:51now a short stop to see if he does have a future in this organization or not one way or
03:55another because
03:56if he proves himself the next month and a half two months and say runs with it instead of being
03:59someone that the mets need to essentially send down a couple weeks from now because he is a non-factor
04:04for
04:05you this could be huge for him and the next stepping stone for him in the mets uniform however
04:09again ronnie mauricio and francisco lindor apples and oranges when comparing the players offensively
04:14defensively and everything in between juan soto not only is he going to need to continue to put his
04:18wing around someone like ronnie mauricio but now soto is really being viewed as i'd imagine more than
04:24ever one of the more vocal leaders on this team because if lindor is not going to be around especially
04:28as he's rehabbing dealing with ailment this means is currently paving the way for someone like juan
04:33soto to come in and get more comfortable and get more acclimating knowing that this is his team
04:38and ways that that has not been the case from last year nor was the case on the previous clubs
04:42that he
04:42was on juan soto is never going to be on another team outside of the new york mets unless the
04:47mets
04:47decided to trade him at some point okay so bearing that in mind you would think that as time goes
04:52on
04:52a comfortability is going to enhance we saw how loose and how fun he was to begin spring training
04:57we saw how he went from being absolutely taken care of by strongly marty the veteran a year
05:02ago entering spring as a newcomer to now doing that exact same thing to his good friend louise
05:06robber so one does have to hope and also wonder how much of juan soto's leadership skills get put
05:13to the test early here and how much is he going to go out of his way to exemplify or
05:17is he going to be
05:17solely as juan soto has been as fans would love to joke and say juan solo focusing on nothing else
05:23but me myself and i will have to wait and see but this is a clear opportunity for not only
05:27soto to try to
05:28make this his team in more ways than one than ever has been before from roddy mauricio to run away
05:33with this opportunity if he can finally do something with it to a degree and all in all have to
05:38hope and
05:38pray as a mets fan that they can just somehow some way get themselves on a run here without fritz
05:43to school and door i'll have to see it to believe it because i'm not going to sell you guys
05:46fool's gold
05:47but i really do hope for the best as someone who's going to be covering and watching this club
05:50all throughout the 162 regardless on if they win lose or something in between thank you guys so much
