00:00Right now, let's shine on some baseball, where nothing is going right for the Mets, not even first pitches.
00:26That's my first time singing.
00:33What the hell was – was that Luke Weaver and Devin Williams throwing out the first pitch?
00:41What was that?
00:42Who was that, Rich, throwing out the first – I mean, please.
00:46Olympic figure skating team throwing out the first pitch?
00:49Was my guy Gary Delabate not available?
00:52I mean, 50 Cent could have thrown out the first pitch?
00:54What was that?
00:55I mean, I don't know.
00:57Oh, maybe Carlos Mendoza's going to use them out of the bullpen tonight.
01:00By the way, David Stearns decided to say, yeah, we're going to give our manager, with a back page yesterday,
01:09worse than 1962, we're going to give him a vote of confidence.
01:12We know what our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more.
01:19We don't view this as a manager problem.
01:23We don't intend to make a change.
01:31How much time do I have?
01:33Are you kidding me?
01:35That's the quote from David Stearns?
01:39That is embarrassing.
01:41You know what I would do?
01:43I would honestly, if I'm David Stearns, not say a damn thing.
01:48Your roster that you put together is atrocious.
01:53It is shades of the 62 Mets, an expansion team.
01:58And you, you spent all that money, haphazardly, foolishly, on this flawed, embarrassing, pathetic, poorly put together roster.
02:13$350 million payroll with two pitchers?
02:17I mean, my goodness.
02:18David Stearns threw a bag over his head.
02:20That is awful.
02:22You signed Devin Williams, Luke Weaver.
02:24You got rid of my guy, Pete Alonzo.
02:28Look at this kid.
02:29He hasn't even recovered yet.
02:30I mean, you got to see Pete Alonzo in New York tonight wearing an Orioles uniform.
02:35I don't know.
02:36You're a replacement at first base.
02:38Nice job.
02:39Looks great.
02:40I mean, my goodness.
02:42What an embarrassment.
02:44A joke.
02:45You couldn't get Tucker.
02:46You overreact.
02:47Poor Beau Bichette.
02:49And I mean it.
02:49I feel bad for Beau Bichette.
02:50You offered him so much money, he couldn't say no.
02:53Didn't want to play third.
02:54Didn't want to be here.
02:55He wanted to go to Philly.
02:57You didn't know what was going on.
02:59Roberts hurt.
03:00Everyone's hurt.
03:01It's like R.E.M. was singing about the Mets.
03:05I mean, look at this.
03:05Look at this record.
03:06Look at this record.
03:07You just lost consecutive series at home to the Rockies and the Nationals.
03:15You just lost consecutive series in your own ballpark.
03:20In front of family and friends.
03:23No one's showing up.
03:25No one wants to see your sad sack team.
03:28And you're going to say the manager is not a problem?
03:33We don't view this as a manager problem?
03:36Well, A, it is.
03:37B, that if not the manager, it's you.
03:40Look in the mirror if you want to find the problem.
03:43You.
03:44You're the problem.
03:46I can't believe you said this today.
03:48And you're going to say this before you play another sad sack team.
03:51You're the Angels.
03:52You're going to lose that series and all of a sudden look like a horse's derriere when you fire the
03:56manager?
03:58On Monday?
03:59What are we doing here?
04:00I mean, I have no expectations when it comes to the Mets.
04:04No expectations when it comes to Stearns.
04:06No expectations when it comes to Mendoza.
04:09But why would you even say this?
04:13Just don't say anything.
04:14Just don't make yourself available to the press.
04:17Seriously.
04:18Like, even if you have people like me, wear Stearns, talk to, just don't say a word.
04:22Because this on the screen right here is a lie.
04:25You're lying to me.
04:27You're lying to the Mets fans.
04:28You're wasting my time.
04:30This is not acceptable.
04:32The Mets fan deserves so much more and so much better than this garbage that they have to watch day
04:39in and day out.
04:40You can't beat Colorado and Washington at home?
04:46And it's not a manager problem?
04:52If I'm Steve Cohen and I hear that, and this team loses again to Anaheim, another sad sack team, I
04:59mean, what are we going to do here?
05:00At what point do we fire the GM?
05:02Are Mendoza still around?
05:04Just make Beltran the manager.
05:06It's as simple as that.
05:07And the fact that you have the optics, and Pete Alonzo should have been re-signed to give him a
05:11lifetime contract, because he's literally the home run leader for the Mets in their history, and he was absolutely an
05:17incredible Met.
05:18But, you know, Stearns didn't want to offer him a deal.
05:21Had to let him go.
05:22I mean, please.
05:24What a joke.
05:25And now you've got the polar bear in town facing the Yankees as an Oriole, where he mentioned during his
05:33introductory press conference in Baltimore, he's happy to be an Oriole?
05:38I could go up and down a laundry list of things where it's like, there's just so many boxes.
05:43Like, every single box, this place checks.
05:45And for us, we're just so pleased.
05:48And for this organization to see me, not just in the now, but in the future.
05:54I mean, it's such a blessing, and I can't wait to play.
05:59Can't wait to perform.
06:00I can't wait to win games.
06:02Can you imagine being a Mets fan?
06:05You've got the manager still employed.
06:08You've got your GM endorsing the manager.
06:12And you have Pete Alonzo back in New York.
06:16And he's playing for the Baltimore Orioles in Yankee Stadium tonight.
06:22I mean, that is gross.
06:23I mean, I just, I want you to look at this.
06:27David Stearns did this to you.
06:30David Stearns allowed this guy, your all-time home run leader, to play for the Baltimore Orioles.
06:39And replaced him with who?
06:41What?
06:42Where?
06:43And this is a last-place, garbage, unwatchable team.
06:47For Pete's sake, what the hell is this?
06:50You know what a bad team can always use?
06:53Oh, I don't know.
06:54A new manager.
06:56A spark.
06:57Donnie Baseball, undefeated as the Phillies manager.
07:003-0, baby.
07:02Is he going to stick in the city of brotherly love?
07:04Here's what team president Dave Dombrowski had to say.
07:08Well, you know, probably when he came on board, it maybe was his thought.
07:11I didn't think we'd be 9-19 either.
07:14So we weren't thinking of him managing at that point.
07:17But I've seen him around here.
07:18He has plenty of energy.
07:20Now, normally when you're talking about, if you were talking about managing, you'd be talking about the long term.
07:26And I did not ask him to manage the long term.
07:30I asked him to manage this season.
07:32And we can, I mean, who knows what goes beyond this year.
07:36See, I love Don Mattingly.
07:38And Don Mattingly was a skipper in the bigs for a long time.
07:42Did a good job in L.A.
07:44Did a good job in Miami.
07:46That was a tough spot.
07:47I thought he did an excellent job.
07:48But I kind of like what Dombrowski's doing.
07:53And stay with me for a second.
07:54And I don't understand, Donnie Baseball's my guy.
07:57Like my childhood idol, okay?
07:59Like I was obsessed with Don Mattingly.
08:02He's kind of dangling the carrot for the players.
08:06Because everyone loves Donnie.
08:08Everyone respects Donnie.
08:09And Don Mattingly is unreal.
08:12And all he does is win.
08:14And by the way, the players, starting with Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber,
08:18these guys are obsessed with winning, playing hard for Donnie.
08:23And even if Dombrowski, and the Cora rumors,
08:26even though Cora told John Heyman he's going to, you know,
08:28spend all the time with his family.
08:30And I'm sure he is, right?
08:31Or Cora at some point is going to manage the Philadelphia Phillies
08:35this year or next year.
08:36But the players are motivated to win and win for Donnie.
08:40So I think Dombrowski, doing something incredibly smart,
08:45just making sure that everyone knows that everything is temporary.
08:48Look, Don Mattingly is unfazed.
08:51He played for George Steinbrenner.
08:53George Steinbrenner wants to find him because his hair was too long.
08:56I love the fact that there's energy with the Phillies.
08:59They sweep the Giants.
09:00They walk it off a couple times.
09:02All the players are saying the right things.
09:04Oh, what do you know?
09:06A managerial change, sparking a team in the NL East.
09:10If only the Mets.
09:12But wait, there's more.
09:18There's more.
09:19There's more.
