00:01London Underground drivers have walked out on strike for the second time this week, causing
00:08more travel misery for commuters and visitors to the capital.
00:13Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union stopped work at noon on Thursday for
00:18another 24-hour strike.
00:20The first strike led to widespread delays and disruption to tube services across the
00:25capital, with some lines completely or partly suspended, while others had fewer services
00:31than normal.
00:32Transport for London continued to advise people to check before they travel for the rest of
00:37the week.
00:38The union is in dispute with London Underground over changes to the working week, including
00:44shift patterns.
00:46More 24-hour strikes are planned in May and June, unless this current row is resolved.
00:52RMT official Jared Wood said union members felt strongly about the issues at the heart
00:58of this dispute, while Claire Mann, TfL's chief operating officer, said they had set out proposals
01:05to the RMT for a four-day working week, adding that it allows them to offer train operators
01:11an additional day off.
01:13However, she said the changes would be voluntary and there would be no reduction in contractual
01:19hours and those who wish to continue a five-day working week pattern would be able to do so.
