00:00Meanwhile, at West, scary moment. I think we might have a still photo of it.
00:03We don't have the rights to show you the actual video.
00:06Trailblazers beat the Spurs by three last night.
00:08So that series is tied at 1-1 as well.
00:11That's not Wemby taking a nap.
00:14No.
00:14All right. So Wemby kind of got his feet caught up under him.
00:17Went down, went down hard.
00:19And no joke, it looked like the bottom part of his forehead slammed against the hardwood there.
00:25Yep, head first for sure.
00:26Serious. And at one point, they did stand him up.
00:29And he was like, he was all like me on a Friday night after three edibles and half a bottle
00:35of Grand Marnie.
00:36Yeah. It was like he had a legit concussion.
00:39Now, what's interesting about that, so they take him out of the game.
00:42That gives, obviously, Portland a chance to win.
00:45And they took advantage of that.
00:47That series is now wide open.
00:49Here's what I don't know.
00:50And I was looking it up, and it's a little kind of shady in comparison to the NFL.
00:57Because the NBA doesn't deal with concussions all that often.
01:01Right?
01:01I can't even tell you the last concussion I saw in the NBA.
01:05But he's going to have to pass a bunch of tests to show that he's all right, et cetera, et
01:09cetera.
01:10But at the end of the day, I'm not sure what the protocol is and who has to approve him.
01:16Can the Spurs just say he's ready to go?
01:19Does the NBA have an independent neurologist saying he passed all my tests, he's good to go?
01:24Because here's the reality.
01:26What you saw last night was the fact that Portland matches up well against them if Wemby's not there.
01:34And Scoot had a great game last night.
01:36That's like a coming out party for him because he didn't do it a year ago, his rookie season.
01:41Yeah, he was disappointing last year.
01:43All of a sudden, the Trailblazers, like the Sixers against the Celtics, now have life.
01:47And now that gets very interesting as well.
01:50Yeah, absolutely.
01:50Now, here are the things that we know has to happen.
01:53Go ahead.
01:53He shut down for a minimum of 48 hours no matter what.
01:56So if there's a game in two days, he cannot play.
01:59He cannot play.
02:00That's number one.
02:01And it's 48 hours from the time of the injury.
02:03Right, all right.
02:04Then also, he has to be symptom-free and he has to go through all these steps.
02:09Those steps include, first, light aerobic exercise.
02:12I don't even know the steps, but who oversees it?
02:14The NBA or the Spurs?
02:16Both.
02:17Okay.
02:17You have to get your team doctor and an NBA doctor.
02:19Got it.
02:19So the team doctor, because the team doctor is always going to side with the team.
02:22Right.
02:23You have an independent doctor that the NBA provides.
02:26He has to concur with the team doctor.
02:28That is a four-step process.
02:29That Wemby's allowed to play.
02:30Right.
02:30Got it.
02:31If they do this the right way, it seems like he would be out games three and four and then
02:35be able to return.
02:36That's what it looks like.
02:37Because 48 hours does not include that.
02:39But it looks like you have to go through, you have to ramp up, you have to be able
02:44to shoot in front of a doctor and things like that, and then do full contact practice.
02:48Got it.
02:48If the proper way, that doesn't mean they'll do it, would be out three and four, back
02:52for game five.
02:53Got it.
02:53So obviously, keep an eye on that.
02:55If Wemby can't go, I think the Spurs are still good enough to beat Portland.
03:00I'm not a big Portland guy.
03:01They can game plan for it, too, if they know he's out versus last night.
03:04And the Spurs have really good depth.
03:05Look, he's the defensive player of the year, unanimous.
03:07He's a game changer.
03:09He's gonna have a chance to be one of the great players of all time.
03:11You don't lose a guy like that and not suffer from it, because everything's built around
03:15him.
03:16But it just shows you, on any given night, one thing goes south, and all of a sudden, your
03:22attempt to win a championship is put on hold.
03:24Easy?
