00:00A cheese sauce is definitely something
00:01you should be making instead of buying.
00:04Melt your butter and then whisk in your flour
00:06and your salt at the same time.
00:09I'm gonna whisk this until you get a paste.
00:10I like to cook it for about a minute.
00:12Then you just slowly whisk in your milk
00:14and this is whole milk.
00:15You'll see it is starting to thicken
00:17and get kind of velvety, but it's not super thick
00:20like a gravy because when you add the cheese,
00:23it's going to thicken.
00:24I'm just gonna go ahead and start adding the cheese
00:26and then you just stir it until it melts.
00:27Once that cheese is good and melty, we're done.
00:30Couple ways we can serve it up.
00:32We can go simple, just on some macaroni.
00:34That's the way my kids would like it.
00:35It is so creamy and cheesy.
00:38Or just over some simple tortilla chips.
00:41What I love is that it's smooth, it's not too grainy.
00:46It's just perfect.
00:47Surprisingly, it has a ton of flavor.
00:49I know we didn't add a bunch of seasonings,
00:51but getting the salt in there early,
00:53toasted with that butter and we used a sharp cheddar,
00:55so it's got a good bite to it.
00:57This is a good recipe and your sign
00:59to make your own cheese sauce.
