00:00The Davao region has once again been recognized as the country's cacao capital, producing 7,807 metric tons,
00:07which account for 70% on national output in 2024, according to the Department of Agriculture Davao Region.
00:14Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority show the region also leads in cacao harvested areas with nearly 19,969 hectares.
00:24Davao del Sur posted the highest provincial production, followed by Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, and Davao de
00:32Oro.
00:33The region has consistently dominated national cacao production in recent years, contributing over 80% in 2022 and 2023.
00:42Officials attribute this to the dedication of farmers and the strength of the cacao industry.
00:47Despite this, challenges such as limited input, labor shortages, and post-harvest gaps remain,
00:54with plans underway to improve production systems and expand industry support.
