00:05dahil full blast ang line-up ng Virgin Lab Fest 2026.
00:10Kaya naman kasama natin ngayon ang mga talented playwright na
00:13si Nalil Arke Azkuna at playwright ng Balos at Tate Lakanlale
00:18at playwright ng Veta Max.

00:24Well, pwede niyo ba ikwento sa amin kung ano yung mga isinulat yung dula
00:28para sa taon na ito?
00:30Sir Arke.
00:31My play Balos is basically a medical drama set during the 2017 Marawi Siege.
00:40Okay.
00:41It's about the impossible situation that our medical workers faced
00:46during a time of crisis and also how normal people like you and me
00:53are the ones who endure such situations and problems
00:58and are forced to make decisions during wartime.

01:02So, my play, Veta Max naman po, is somehow a weird psychodrama.
01:07So, this character, Brenda, started to see pigs, human pigs, sorry, human pigs
01:15after niya ma-accidente sa isang boss.
01:18Human pigs.
01:20Yes.
01:20So, parang baboy yun.
01:21Okay.
01:23So, that's umuwi siya sa kanyang ate Brianna
01:25and more panic na nakita niya na yung pinakabunso nilang si Brian
01:30ay nagiging baboy na rin sa mata niya.

01:33So, can you tell us about the process of writing this?
01:36How long do you produce this and write such plays?
01:41So, my play started, I started writing it right after the siege, Marawi Siege.
01:48Right after?
01:48Yeah, we conducted research over there and we interviewed people
01:54and somehow those stories stuck with me.
01:57And yeah, it went into the development stage from 2017 up until last year
02:03when I submitted it to the Virgin Love Fest.
02:05So, somehow, para siyang based on true events?
02:08Inspired from true events and people that I know of.

02:14Yung sa akin naman po, sinimulaan ko siyang isulat noong 2021
02:19back when I was in college.
02:22Tapos, after that, binalikan ko siya kasi natago ko siya sa baul na matagal.
02:26Binalikan ko lang siya noong 2024, sinulat ko.
02:29And for the first time, pinasa ko siya sa For Virgin Love Fest.
02:32And ayun, nakuha din naman siya.
02:34Okay.
02:35So, kwento niyo sa amin din yung naging experience niyo sa paggawa ng dula.
02:37Ano yung creative process na dinaanan ninyo?
02:39Well, I understand, sabi ko kanina, Sir RK,
02:41you have to do research, you have to talk to the people,
02:44nag-interview kayo.
02:46Paano yung, paano mo binuo, paano mo inilating yung story?
02:50Unang-una, I love mythical dramas.
02:53Okay.
02:54It's a TV series about the tension happening in the operation room.
03:00In my play, there's actually that scene there.
03:04Okay.
03:04And it was based upon certain situations that also happened during the siege.
03:11So, yeah, mahirap na.
03:13It took a long time before I made an actual story set during that time.
03:21And, of course, hearing from other people, their perspective on things,
03:27and how do they act when certain situations happen to them.
03:31Okay.
03:32And also, collaboration with people.
03:36Friends and all of that.
03:38Alright.
03:38Well, Ms. Faith, saan nag-trigger yung Betamax?
03:41Kasi sabi mo nung college, sinusulat mo na yung story.
03:44Nahinto.
03:45Paano, paano nag-snap na yung idea na yung tao, nagiging baboy?
03:49So, I'm just curious, paano yun?
03:51It's a device, metaphorical device na ginamit ko sa play,
03:55na ginawa kong literal, at yun yung buong konsepto.
03:58Kasi nung college ako,
04:00syempre, sa malayong city kasi ako, nag-aaral.
04:04So, mahalagang bagay sa akin,
04:06at problema ko rin yung safe spaces.
04:08So, kung baga, kung saan ako pupunta,
04:11maliwanag ba doon, marami ba ang tao,
04:13pag humihing akong tulong, makakasigaw ba ako.
04:14So, naisip ko, nasa nakakilala ko na lang,
04:18or nakikita ko na lang kung sino yung mga iiwasan ko.
04:21Like, nagiging baboy sila sa paningin ko, or something.
04:25So, doon na buo yung konsepto niya.
04:27Tapos, naisulat ko lang siya ulit noong 2024,
04:30para lang, syempre, binalikan ko na,
04:33kasi meron na rin akong oras,
04:34nakagraduate na rin ako, ganun.
04:36Kaya, ayun, ayun naman,
04:39umayos naman,
04:40tapos, natanggap din naman siya.
04:43So, tao na ulit yung tingin mo sa mga kaupamong ito.
04:47So, talagang kailangan full attention,
04:49full concentration,
04:50para mabuo talaga ito.
04:52Kaya, matagal nila ginagawa.
04:53So, paano naman nakatutulong,
04:55nabanggit niyo po, sir,
04:56na nagkaroon kayo ng collaboration?
04:58Yung collaboration niyo sa mga artists at playwrights,
05:00how does it help
05:01na pagbuuni itong plays niyo?
05:04Sa BLF, yun ang nangyayari.
05:06We collaborate with the director
05:08and the actors
05:10and the festival directors themselves also.
05:13They help in developing the story more
05:16and how it will be staged
05:18kasi hindi madali yung
05:20from text towards the stage.
05:23How do you make sure
05:25na hindi mawawala yung istorya mo?
05:27Kasi pagka nagkocollaborate ka,
05:29ang nangyayari yung mga ideas sila.
05:30Oh, may arguments ba?
05:32So, how do you make sure na...
05:34Siyempre, teamwork is very important.
05:37The collaboration
05:38and the recognition
05:40that each of you actually has,
05:43can give something
05:44towards the larger picture of the play.
05:48Because the important thing is,
05:50you know, ma-stage talaga siya
05:51and matawid yung message ng story.
