00:01The Kuala Lumpur High Court on Tuesday increased the jail sentence of an e-hailing driver who
00:07went viral for driving against traffic on Jalan Klang Lama two weeks ago, from three days to
00:13three months. Judge Aslam Zainuddin ordered 32-year-old Wong Kok Kong to serve the enhanced
00:20sentence starting Tuesday and maintained the earlier penalties imposed by the magistrate's
00:25court, namely a 6,000 ringgit fine and a five-year driving license revocation. Earlier, the
00:33prosecution argued that the initial three-day jail term was insufficient to deter similar
00:39offences. The defence, however, argued that the original sentence was fair, noting that
00:45Wong's guilty plea had saved the court's time, and that he was a first-time offender. Wong was
00:51earlier charged under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving a white proton
00:58saga recklessly and in a manner dangerous to other road users on the morning of April 5.
