00:15The 51-year-old was accused of driving a trailer dangerously along Jalan Kebun Sireh at around
00:209.30 a.m. on November 13, which resulted in the death of 21-year-old Li Ziru.
00:26The charge was made under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries
00:32a maximum jail term of 10 years and a fine of not more than 50,000 ringgit upon conviction.
00:39Marhizan was unrepresented, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Zulfazli Hassan prosecuted the
00:45case.
00:46The court did not allow bail based on DPP Zulfazli stating that the case was of public
00:51interest and that Marhizan had also shown no remorse for his actions, having shown
00:56the peace sign when he was brought to court to be remanded earlier this week.
01:00On the day of the incident, Li, a clerk, was driving to work when the trailer driver lost
01:05control during a left turn, causing the container to topple and crush her car.
01:10The container also hit another car, driven by Tancho Teng, who was rescued by passers-by
01:16and is currently hospitalized with serious injuries.
01:20Li was laid to rest on Sunday, with hundreds, including family and friends, attending to
01:25pay their last respects.
