00:02hey everybody we're coming to you live on 2k sports bringing you the nba this is brian
00:09anderson with me richard jefferson and grant hill and reporting courtside it's ali la force
00:16now a moment to take a look at the year-to-year scoring output and how it's been trending for
00:21paul george well i like that he's really found a balance he doesn't feel the need to put the team
00:26on his back and try to carry them offensively but he can still bring it when they need him most
00:31and maybe what's most important he provides that veteran leadership necessary a look at the 76ers
00:38starting group george and mbead are up front quinton grimes out there with maxi and it's uber in at the
00:45small forward position they've got rui achimura mitchell out there with keon ellis then there's
00:50prince and it's bassy in at the five down low well we're in the closing weeks of the regular season
00:56there's no rest for teams competing for positioning yeah this is the time where if
01:00you have a couple of nights of bad effort you might drop two or three positions it's not the
01:05playoffs yet but it's critical this part of the season mb gets the bucket and that gets us rolling
01:13what a tremendous atmosphere in here tonight and sometimes getting that first bucket puts momentum
01:19in your corner but we'll just have to see ellis passes to bassy shoots over mbead and misses it off
01:26the right side of the rim and here's george he'll bring it up for philadelphia and as a rule of

01:31the road can really test your team's depth but they all stepped up and collectively produced a lot of
01:37points the bench production was huge no doubt a testament to how well prepared this coaching
01:43staff is for these tough road games about a minute into this first quarter

03:25foot eight and with his versatile skill set plug and play on any team but health has been
03:32a challenge as of late now in his mid-30s can he maintain that elite level
03:39that one's no good you know when you think about the league's most capable scorers paul george
03:44has to be on that list richard oh when i think of pg he's just a perfect basketball player
03:50dunks threes mid-range this man can do it all and when he's got it going it's hard to think
03:56of a more
03:56complete score now here's maxi last game we saw him with 32 points okay let's just say it this has
04:03been an ugly quarter for him not quite a break a mirror ugly but it's getting there just taking
04:08it right to the rim and no one was there to greet him easy possessions like that literally are just
04:14a gift you just dream of them he'll gladly take those here's grimes averaging around six a game
04:21george and the foul is called he missed it so he's got a couple of free throws coming his way
04:27you want to avoid fouling pg career free throw percentage 85 that's pretty good and he'll take
04:35his third and fourth free throws of the night
04:41that's good from george and for the sixers the growth of tyrese maxi has meant everything grant
04:47oh my his growth both with his play but also with his leadership has meant a lot and he has
04:53such a
04:53joyful energy that really helps pull this team together watson he's checked in for bassy so hits
05:00one and misses one at the line you can't say enough about the leadership that george brings to his team
05:05he is a major force in the locker room and it's watson missing the sixers trailing

06:10on the bench if he tries that bad boy again and just terrible defense i don't know how he missed

06:16watson passes to achimura and it's slammed in by achimura oh what a finish
06:23oh he's showing off that athletic ability 76ers trail by three

07:13and joelle and b pulls it down so far rebounding has been a focal point for them

10:37and from what we've seen here from the home team what's your take so far you can really see the
10:42strategy coming in get the ball into the painted area and let me tell you when you establish a physical

14:08defense kind of rolled the dice there and i'm a little surprised that it ended up going their way

14:52and when it comes to taking an offense out of its rhythm what are some of the primary methods grant
14:57well ba you have to disrupt their flow that can come from steals deflections block shots
15:03even chain shots anything that makes them feel uncomfortable watford's checked in for philadelphia
15:09grimes comes in for beasley and the free throw no good well grant if you had to say is there

15:15you think is underrated about mb you know ba i think it's his intelligence joel's a heady
15:21player sometimes big men don't get enough credit for their smarts on the court mb knows the game

15:57they're playing great team basketball it's good movement and sharp crisp passing

16:12started out strong from three-point land hit two in the first quarter but he's gone dry since
16:17and he gets that one and give their offense some love they've been the more efficient team yeah coach
16:24has to be thrilled you can draw up all the x's and o's you want but guys have to go
16:27out there and
16:28execute with enthusiasm now here's watson 14 points their largest margin of the game misses from close range
16:39pass to edgecombe wide open and that one good edgecombe's gotten his third basket of the night
16:46well that's a real encouraging make for edgecombe the rookie's showing he can score it off the ball

16:56george he's checked in for philadelphia oubre comes in for maxi okay a chance to look at some
17:02numbers for him his ball distribution has been fantastic as of late during these last 10 games
17:08he's made sure to whip the ball around and try to find his guys in their spots on offense
17:18shooting has been spectacular 67 just incredible and mitchell with the slam
17:26i'll tell you a little extra pressure on d when you're up against a point guard who can elevate
17:32it doesn't make it easy does it yeah hard to strategy oh oh nice finish man big time right there
17:41wow vj edgecombe i have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of these highlight reel plays over his career
17:47an impressive display how about that look on the at&t connected cam

17:59six on the shot clock shoots over oubre prince can't hit oh that's a missed opportunity from the
18:05mid-range he can hit that to the inside and edgecombe gets it to go edgecombe's got 10 points
18:13it's just one of those nights where he's been very good but his team is losing and that's just an

20:49look at that philadelphia they got their work cut out i mean you play this long this hard throughout
20:54the year then you get down to the last stretch and you realize you got to bring it every night
20:59unlike kenny what what i bring it every night what are you talking about
21:04and switching gears now to that first half big hill to climb for the philadelphia 76ers
21:10if you're shooting under 30 percent from three try to find another way to score man this is crazy
21:16shot yeah being one-dimensional they're making it too easy on the defense

21:29quarter
21:44and as we dive into the second half we'll find out if the next two quarters are any different from
21:49the first two so far it's been a runaway
22:21they've got charles bassy prince is out there with rui achimura then there's mitchell and it's ellis
22:27in at the shooting guard a great move i mean the defense has no response yeah taking it right to
22:34the rim one matches that might be discussed at halftime that's going to be unbelievable
22:38and for philadelphia georgia and bede are up front maxi out there with quentin grimes
22:43and it's ubri in at the three achimura outside
22:49it's stolen by maxi it's an even three-on-three break
22:55and there's ubray that one's good on the assist by george ubray's got his second bucket on the night
23:04mitchell the pass to prince the three ball and that one's good mitchell for three and just not
23:13letting up at all i mean you have to love this approach you want to get the ball to the
23:17guys who
23:18make plays this is when good players really get after it he can sense that they're reeling and he's
23:24gonna put his foot on the paddle three straight buckets to start the half this is how they wanted
23:29to come out and execute
23:33to the middle here's bassy and he caught that pass in full stride on his way to the big slam
23:39i'll tell you he is so tough to keep down once he gets near that rim yeah he can get
23:45up even a few
23:46notches higher pulls it from the top of the key prince grabs the miss i'll tell you what they've
23:53rebounded the ball tremendously well to the inside here's achimura oh he powers right through the
24:00defender for the dunk draws the foul too and he'll go to the line it's gonna go on paul george
24:07and he's
24:08got his first opportunity at the line here tonight oh the mid-range shot has always been
24:17achimura's best weapon but he's adapted and has become more consistent beyond the arc back to maxi
24:26going inside kicks it to george the three-pointer off the mark and sometimes on defense you can just get

24:36the three from prince and his fifth basket now five for eight looking comfortable out there
24:42their ball movement on this run has been tremendous it's led to a lot of good clean open looks
24:49timeout called the 76ers protecting the rim has to be their top objective right now i'm sure coach is
24:56going to give them an earful about that he can't be happy with that soft interior deep and right here
25:03on the 2k leaderboard the best rebounding teams of the past 10 games and over the last 10 games
25:09this team has brought it to the glass everyone is getting involved and trying to help one another secure
25:24boards just under two and a half minutes into this third quarter now a nice shot by grimes gotta fight
25:31harder to get over those screens yeah as soon as these guys build contact they are just disappearing
25:36like they're not even there you gotta show some fire and keep defending and why go away from attacking
25:42inside if the d has no answer for you maxi passes to grimes
25:51and here's imbeed he's got 10 to open that time made it look easy imbeed's got 12 points the team
26:00just loves to see imbe fired up on offense like this they really rely on his scoring ability
26:07maxi good the assist numbers certainly stand out they've really emphasized ball movement here today
26:15and so it's maxi who brings up the ball for the 76ers they trail by 18 crimes into the lane
26:22count it he's got seven when guys are moving the ball sharing it it makes the game so much more

26:29both as a player and as a fan back to bassy has to achimura to the paint lets it fly
26:39and he gets it to go off the front iron bassy's got six points in the quarter defensively they've got
26:46to get more bodies in the paint that's three straight field goals from below the free throw line maxi
26:51and the layup falls turning on the jets maxi found the lane and made them pay
26:57gotten off to an incredible start in this half eight of eight from the floor
27:03lets it go from the wing misfires there four for six in the game now
27:10three-pointer and that's up and in five for 12 in this game and their perimeter shooting

29:31shooting wise he's been fantastic helping to build this lead they're being put to the test and he's

29:55lay-in mccain's gotten his first basket of the night and force-feeding the ball inside i mean

30:10knocks it down from distance prince has got 14 their long-range shooting since halftime has been as
30:17strong as you could hope for here's edgecomb it's good hey they're just getting pushed around inside

30:41there's the drive and that one is stopped right through edgecomb's ability to run and jump are well
30:47known this is what drew a lot of eyes to this young man now here's bassy

31:05that's the best look this offense can produce and you couldn't get a better shot off like come on you

33:16boy this offense has been dynamic and diversified just everyone sharing the ball and sharing the load
33:23makes you difficult to defend and that one drops well the defense allowed that one he had a
