00:00Let's go over to the ice, because tonight we got four games on the docket tonight,
00:037 o'clock, 7.30, 9.30, and 10 o'clock.
00:06We're going to go to Pittsburgh, where Saturday night special,
00:09the Philadelphia Flyers back in the playoffs knock off the Penguins.
00:12They'll look to take a 2-0 series lead tonight,
00:14but they are not the favorite here, Joe.
00:16You take a look, Philadelphia, the underdog coming in with Ladoran Gold,
00:20minus 152 favorite for the Penguins, and a total of 6.5.
00:24Give me a spread line tonight there for Flyers-Penguins.
00:27Well, I mean, the battle of Pennsylvania rages on, right?
00:30But it was 6.5 in the first game, too.
00:33It was one of the higher totals on the board.
00:35And, yeah, we didn't get six goals here, Donnie.
00:39So what are we going to get here?
00:41This feels like one of these series where, yes,
00:45we're all expecting to have these wild shootouts,
00:47but it's probably going to be lower scoring.
00:51It's going to be a lot more physical.
00:53And I'm just going to keep playing.
00:55I mean, nobody has dominated over the postseason like Sidney Crosby has,
00:59especially in his career against Philadelphia.
01:01So just keep giving me Sidney Crosby anytime goals.
01:05I'm good to go.
01:07I think the under is alive and well in this series.
01:09I'm not buying we're getting five, four games out of these two teams, Donnie.
01:14I think there are going to be a lot of unders here.
01:17Let's see what happens in this one.
01:18Philadelphia, the road team, again, the underdogs winning game number one.
01:21Let's shift over to a 930 start tonight.
01:23Minnesota on the road to take on the Stars.
01:24Also, Joe, the underdog winning game number one with a 1-0 series lead.
01:29Dallas at home opened up as around a minus 130 price.
01:32So moved up slightly, Joe, only to minus 134.
01:35And look at this total.
01:36Five and a half listed.
01:37Minnesota, 1-0 series lead over Dallas.
01:39What's the spread line we can anticipate tonight?
01:41Well, there's a few guarantees in life, right?
01:44Death, taxes, and Ottinger and Dallas never winning an opening game at home in the postseason
01:50and looking terrible.
01:52The problem is it's likely going to continue because they usually don't win the first two
01:57games of any series, Donnie.
01:58That's how they roll for some very strange reason.
02:02I mean, coming into this tournament, I thought that these two teams were about as even as you
02:07can get.
02:08But the problem is that what you saw is no Rupe Hintz.
02:11It's there for Dallas.
02:12That's a problem.
02:13And they're hoping he's going to be available to be back on the ice tonight.
02:17Otherwise, Kasparov and Quinn Hughes and company, they had their way with this Dallas
02:22team.
02:22And Ottinger obviously can't be counted on to save the day all the time.
02:27They need Hintz in that lineup.
02:28If they do, I think they can even this series up.
02:32But if they don't, Donnie, Minnesota could be heading back to Minnesota up two games or none.
02:37Final series, final game of the night just about to get underway.
02:40In the NHL, Joe, it's Anaheim on the road to take on Edmonton.
02:44Edmonton opened up around a minus 165 favorite.
02:46That's climbed higher now.
02:48175s, minus 178s in the marketplace.
02:50And a total that's listed at six and a half.
02:54Anaheim and Edmonton, Joe.
02:55Give me a spread line for that one here.
02:57This is going to be hilarious.
02:59First of all, Leon Dreisaitl has been confirmed he's going in this game.
03:03So McDavid and Dreisaitl back on the ice here, which is great that Edmonton, because they're
03:09going to need him here.
03:10Not for this series, Donnie, but down the road, they're going to need him.
03:13I think Connor McDavid might set the record for the most points and goals ever scored in
03:19a series, because the Anaheim Ducks, offensively, are a lot of fun.
03:24Defensively, well, they don't play any, Donnie, and that's the problem.
03:28They have no goaltending, no defense, but they love to skate up and down the ice and take shots.
03:35I think this is going to be the highest scoring series that we have.
03:38Maybe the most fun from a scoring perspective.
03:41But Connor McDavid and now that Leon Dreisaitl is back,
03:44they are going to feast on this terrible Anaheim defense here.
03:48So yeah, I think we're going to get a lot of overs in this series.
03:52I think it begins here tonight.
03:54Exciting action across all sports landscapes here.
03:57We need to bring in some help.
03:59It's on your right side.
04:00It's Joe and Harry.
04:01Now we welcome in Tom Vecchio, who just about to go on vacation.
04:04But before he goes, we got a lot to catch up on, Tom, which what happened this weekend.
04:09Major League Baseball, the NHL, the NDA, and also, Tom, a little NFL talk.
04:14As well, heating up on a Monday.
04:16How about that?
04:16What's good?
04:19Chris.
04:21Yeah.
04:26We all know, but we have prime NBA, NHL playoff action, a full slate of MLB,
04:33which gets started in three and a half hours or so with Marathon Monday for the Red Sox.
04:38Absolutely.
04:38Having some fun at Tom.
04:39Let's keep it in the NHL just to start off.
04:41Because as we were opening up the show and Joe had a great, you know, caffeinated Joe
04:44saying, like, hey, NBA, we waited for the playoffs to get rid of the tanking.
04:48And it looks like teams are actually tanking in the playoffs right now with a lot of these blowouts.
04:52But yesterday in the NHL, 2-1 Avalanche Kings.
04:554-3 Overtime, Canadians Lightning.
04:574-3 Sabres Bruins.
04:59And then a great comeback for the Golden Knights in the third period here to win 4-2 over the
05:04Mammoth.
05:04Tell me what you've been seeing here in the NHL and what you're looking at now.
05:08Well, yes, those games yesterday we finally got some scoring going because it started off really slow.
05:13You know, seeing that all the games or nearly all of them are finishing within the puck line is at
05:18least interesting.
05:18Now, I'm not going to say we're just going to go blindly betting underdog puck lines.
05:22You know, the Flyers are, you know, plus 1.5 is minus 1.88.
05:26So we're not blindly betting that.
05:27But the underdogs are live to win and they're live to keep it close.
05:31And we're also seeing more and more unders, which is good outside of yesterday's results, obviously.
05:34But, you know, seeing a Flyers-Penn 6.5 today has me leaning towards the under.
05:39I think we're not going to see these teams get out and boat race one another and see the games
05:43end 5-2 outside of the Dallas-Minnesota game.
05:49I'd tell you, that Montreal-Tampa game was so much fun to watch Montreal upstart.
05:54Two teams with 106 points during the season.
05:57Yeah, they can play.
05:58And that is going to be a good series.
06:00I'm not sure the Edmonton-Anaheim series is going to be as good.
06:04But Dreisaitl is back.
06:06He's going now.
06:08So with this Edmonton, you know, they can score seven goals.
06:12So it doesn't matter who's in goal for them.
06:15It doesn't.
06:15You know, this would be the one series I would say would kind of break the mold of what I
06:18was just talking about.
06:19I was like, this series is going to have goals.
06:21There's no doubt about it.
06:22And frankly, you know, I don't want to say the Oilers are primed for an upset, but people can't be
06:29discounting the Ducks.
06:30The Ducks are a really good team, and they can score with the Oilers.
06:33You know, previously when we saw the Oilers versus the Kings over the last four straight years, five straight years,
06:38the Oilers just outscored them.
06:39And they win the games 5-2.
06:40The Ducks can score.
06:42They can win those games 5-3, 5-4, whatever it might be.
06:44I do not think that is going to be a lower-scoring series.
06:47And the Ducks are alive to win games.
06:48I would say play the Ducks on the money line as long as you're getting plus money.
06:52A little hockey talk on a Monday.
06:53What a great opening, you should say, from Saturday and Sunday.
06:56A lot of great games here in Philadelphia.
06:57Yes!
06:58We finally tasted some victory in the Buffalo Sabres.
07:01Haven't been in the playoffs for a while.
07:02Exciting Game 1 victory over the Boston Brewings.
07:06But some other news and notes and topics, Joe.
07:08How about Vincent Trocek?
07:09Yeah, you remember him on Team USA winning a gold medal here.
07:11But how about this to start the season, Joe?
07:13Trocek revealed that he had a bacteria infection in his lungs that required surgery.
07:19And that's why he missed a month early in the season.
07:22Quote, it was very scary.
07:23I thought I was dying.
07:24Hockey players?
07:25Tough, Joe.
07:27Very tough.
07:28Yeah, and he still would have played if they would have let him, Donnie.
07:31Like, he still would have tried to get out there and get it done.
07:33But, yeah, just, it was, there's a sign right off the bat here.
07:37The Panthers, the Rangers, key injuries to key guys early on.
07:42And that kind of doomed him from that point on.
07:45As Sidney Crosby said, I don't like them.
07:47Well, why don't, I just don't like them here.
07:49Well, it's the same thing with the fan bases between the Pittsburgh fan bases and the Philadelphia
07:53fan base.
07:54Steelers, Sixers, Flyers.
07:56I mean, the Sixers, hell, you don't even have a basketball team in Pittsburgh.
07:59Sixers fans probably still hate Pittsburgh.
08:00Update from PPG Paints Arena.
08:02There's already been two fights in the crowd, five fan ejections, and we're 20 minutes away
08:07from puck drop.
08:08This is Penguins, Flyers in the playoffs.
08:10It's a great rivalry.
08:11It is a lot of fun.
08:12And as I said, Sixers and the Celtics are supposed to be a rivalry.
08:16Nobody's even going to be making a golf clap by the time they get back for game three for
08:19the Sixers game.
08:20Who tell me this, Joe?
08:22This place is going to be on fire when Philadelphia returns back to playoff hockey against the
08:26Penguins.
08:27Crosby, it just makes for good television.
08:29It makes for good TV.
08:30And you can buy in.
08:31It's a great time here.
08:33It really is.
08:34I mean, it's classic, it's old school, and it's, you know, listen, two fan bases that,
08:40you know, haven't exactly recently, had a whole lot to be excited about, but boy, oh boy, there's
08:45a lot of pent-up anger against one another in this series, so it should be a whole lot
08:50of fun to watch this thing unfold.
08:53Absolutely, it should be.
08:53How about this one, Joe?
08:54Correct me if you've heard this before.
08:56Not sure if there'll be a switch for game number two as well, but Jake Ottinger just came
09:00on the ice for practice in an original white and green pad setup, not the new black ones.
09:04So has the black 99 mask.
09:06What's up with Ottinger and the boys, huh?
09:09I don't know.
09:10I don't know why he refuses to be able to win a game on his own home ice in the
09:15playoffs.
09:16The start is beyond me, but it feels like it's rinse and repeat with him.
09:19They just start slow for some reason, but I think they get hints back.
09:24They're going to be fine.
09:24But Ottinger, we know, heading into the playoffs, Donnie, into that game yesterday, I think he
09:29was 5-0 his last five games with three shutouts.
09:33So we know what he's capable of, but my goodness, they got to give him some help here, Dallas.
09:39I'll tell you who else needs to get some help.
09:41Macklin Celebrini.
09:42He seems like all the help he needs is just him, but boy, you want to surround him with
09:45some other superstar players and you got something for maybe the next 20 years.
09:49Macklin Celebrini's final tally in his 19-year-old season, 82 games, 45 goals, 70 assists, 115
09:56points.
09:57I think he passed Joe Thornton there as most points there in a Sharks uniform.
10:01This is a guy that's now open to an extension.
10:04Pay the man his money and get some talent around him, Joe.
10:07And yeah, he will be there for quite a...
10:10He is a name that, yes, get used to saying a lot here.
10:14And it's good because it'd be good to see San Jose back in the discussion again.
10:19How about Bruins and the Sabres yesterday?
10:21You saw all the anticipation of playoff hockey coming back to Buffalo.
10:25And how about four goals in the third period for a 4-3 victory by the Sabres?
10:31The pace was on fire.
10:33Like we're taking back to the old odd in Buffalo, Joe.
10:36I got to tell you, that was some third period, man.
10:39You dropped four goals in the third period.
10:41It's just unbelievable what's going on there.
10:45That, too, a very good series with a not, you know, not a top-of-mind, you know, sort
10:52of rivalry like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but make no mistake about it.
10:57You know, that's two blue-blood NHL organizations with fans that, yeah, they got a little something
11:03to say here.
11:04They do.
11:05How about Ottawa and Carolina?
11:06Watch that game from the hotel room on Saturday.
11:08Really a dominating performance by Carolina in that game.
11:12Game number two going to be tonight, a minus-152 favorite for Carolina.
11:15They always talk about the four-checking and the back-checking, extremely good for Carolina
11:20here as they look to take a series win, two-to-nothing tonight, Joe.
11:26Vintage Carolina, but, you know, Ottawa, if you don't get shots on Frederick Anderson, you're
11:30not going to be able to beat him, and that was the problem in the game.
11:34You know, they went through two periods, Donnie.
11:36I think they had five shots on goal.
11:38That's not going to get it done.
11:40The Senators got to figure out a way to generate some offense, and they got to make
11:44Anderson work.
11:45I think they'll have a better opportunity here tonight.
11:48You know, we have Prediction Markets Edge coming up in hour number two, Joe.
11:51Give me Predictions Market Edge on the Flyers at a 30-to-1 price to win the Stanley Cup, or
11:55would you rather just take the Avalanche at plus 280, Joe?
11:59No, no.
12:00Listen, the Avalanche barely got by the Kings 2-1, so anything is possible.
12:06Anything is possible as we move into our number two.
12:10More fun, more hot topics, and a guy who had maybe a bigger weekend than everybody at the
12:15grid.
12:15We're doing this as well.
12:16I'll let you find out who that is.
12:18Let's go over to the ice tonight.
12:19In Pittsburgh, game number one, went to the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2.
12:23Game number two tonight, out there in Pittsburgh, a 7 o'clock start.
12:27The favorites in this game, still the Pittsburgh Penguins, as they were in game number one.
12:31You take a look and think they can win this game.
12:33Game 58 cents, the current trading point, $100 investment pays back 173.
12:38The Philadelphia Flyers as the underdog for game number two.
12:41If they can go 2-0 in this series in two games in Pittsburgh, that's a 43% chance tonight.
12:46That's $100 investment pays back 233.
12:49We know, Joe, you go down 0-2 in a series, like, okay, we're going back to home ice, let's
12:53even it up.
12:54You can't go down 0-2 in your own building and expect to win that series.
12:58Yeah, I mean, listen, and we know that maybe the zigzag theory alive and well in
13:03the NHL, as opposed to the NBA right now, and even the Flyers are talking about, you
13:10know, this is, we're going to see a much different Pittsburgh team in game two after losing game
13:15one, but there's a couple of guys that I would not go away from in this series at all.
13:20I mean, Malkin already showed you what he's all about.
13:24He had a monster game.
13:26I see him having another big game here against Philly.
13:29I think, and the youngster there, Martone, already scored a playoff goal in that first
13:35game.
13:35I think he's another guy that's going to be extremely dangerous and worth playing for an
13:39anytime goal.
13:40I just don't happen to think it's going to be as high scoring as the market does, Donnie.
13:45So I'm leaning the unders, but I'm also leaning on the guys that we know will likely find the
13:51back of the net on both these teams.
13:53Take a look, too, at Pittsburgh.
13:54If you think they can win on the puck line, minus one and a half, which means winning by two.
13:58That's currently trading, Joe, at $0.35 right now.
14:00$100 investment pays back $2.86.
14:02So what you want, Pittsburgh to be up three to two without a minute to go.
14:05Flyers pull their goalie.
14:06See if you can get one of those empty netters here to cash that plus money ticket in.
14:09We'll find out tonight in Pittsburgh, who either takes a series command at 2-0 for the Flyers
14:13or even up 1-1 heading back to Philadelphia.
14:16Dallas is at home.
14:17They're hoping to even this series up against Minnesota, who took game number one.
14:21Game number two, pretty close here as it's listed.
14:23If you think the Minnesota Wild can take a 2-0 series lead, that's currently trading right now.
14:27Now at $0.46 for them to win this game tonight.
14:30$100 investment pays back $2.18.
14:33If you feel that the Dallas Stars can even this series up, Joe, currently trading at $0.55.
14:37That's a $100 investment paying back $1.82.
14:40Minnesota at Dallas tonight.
14:43Yeah, and listen, this was the one series that we all thought, Donnie, was a coin flip one way or
14:49the other.
14:50I think this series has definitely got zigzag written all over it.
14:53I expect a much better effort from Dallas in this game at home.
14:58We knew, for whatever reason, Ottinger and Dallas, they just, they don't do well in game ones to start the
15:06playoffs on their own home ice.
15:07But I do think we're going to get a much better effort here.
15:10I mean, 6-1 was just, it just got away from them there.
15:14I think they'll be much better in this game.
15:17I'm just going to zigzag my way in this series.
15:20I'll have Dallas tonight.
15:21I'll have Minnesota in game three when they go back home because that's how close these two teams really are.
15:28How about this one, though, Joe?
15:29Anaheim at Edmonton here.
15:31Oh, look, one of these teams looking for a 2-0 series lead.
15:33They haven't played yet tonight, or they haven't played yet in the series, but they will tonight, Joe.
15:37This game, puck drops, going to be at 10 p.m. in Edmonton here.
15:41The Anaheim Ducks are the underdog tonight, currently trading at 38% to win this game.
15:46So if you put $100 investment down on an upset for Anaheim, that pays back $2.64.
15:50But Edmonton is the favorite, Joe, and as I know you're looking at it as well,
15:54we know Connor McDavid's going to be out there tonight.
15:56But I'm hearing news on another superstar that also might be returning to the ice tonight.
16:02Yeah, Dreisaitl's been practicing with the team.
16:04Looks like he is set to return here for Edmonton, which is not great news for Anaheim.
16:10I mean, listen, they combined these two teams during the season.
16:14The Oilers took two out of three from the Ducks in a regular season.
16:17I think they combined for 11 goals in two of those three games, and then the other one
16:22was a 4-2 Oilers win here.
16:25And listen, it's all about Anaheim, very potent offense, no defense, terrible goaltending.
16:31Sound familiar?
16:32Because that's exactly what Edmonton is.
16:34So I would not be sweating out unders in this series, Donnie.
16:38I think McDavid, certainly going to be a monster in this series, and that's how I would focus
16:45it on McDavid goal props.
16:47Now Dreisaitl back, but give me the overs across the board here.
