00:01spread lines. We're going to start tonight at center bell in Montreal that
00:05is trying to keep their season alive against those Carolina Hurricanes. Joe,
00:11if we take a look at the line, however, Montreal is pretty good team minus one
00:15fifties or higher across the board for the Carolina Hurricanes. You take a look
00:19at the total this game, low Joe at five and a half. It seems like that Carolina
00:24defense power play and special teams has settled in here tonight. Joe, we could
00:29get the Stanley Cup final already known by the end of tonight. Or Joe,
00:34does Montreal win and force another game in Carolina? What's your spread line for this one?
00:41Well, listen, they have two overtime losses here, Donnie, and we can make the argument that
00:46they are very much in this series here still, and they're on their own home ice, which is great.
00:53And they've also done something that they have not done in a very long time. I think since March 14
00:58and 15th, that was the last time Montreal had lost back-to-back games. They're currently on a
01:04two-game losing streak, Donnie, and the last time it happened was mid-March. So you would think that
01:11they will bounce back. They've done it all year long here. They're on their home ice,
01:16and they understand they can't go back to Carolina down 3-1. I do think you are going to see
01:21a very
01:22feisty Canadians team at home. But Donnie, if it's not broke, don't fix it. Again, they have not
01:28had an under in the first period in any of their games in forever, Donnie. All of these games in
01:36this
01:36series have all gone over on the first period, over one and a half goals. There is no reason to
01:42think
01:42we won't get over one and a half goals in this one either again tonight.
01:47Yeah, you're right about that too. 3-1 series lead. It's going to be a wrap. Like you're not going
01:50to
01:50be Carolina on the way out of the series and run the table and then a Stanley Cup final. A
01:54must-win
01:54game for the Canadians at home tonight, or else it is the Canadians down 3-1 going back to Raleigh.
01:59That's never a good sign. LeBron James, Yarmir Yager playing into your 40s, 20-plus seasons here.
02:07It doesn't happen in professional sports. You can't do that here. Oh yeah? Evgeny Malkin's back with a
02:12one-year $5.5 million deal that can be up to $9 million if he hits his incentives here, Joe.
02:18For some reason, man, hockey players just are built different in so many different ways.
02:23We're thinking maybe Geno might hang him up. Now he's back and he's getting paid,
02:27making a run again for the Penguins. No rebuild in sight so far, Joe.
02:32Yeah, there you are. Let's, you know, probably, what was the old Belichick saying,
02:36or I'd rather move on like a year early than a year late.
02:41On his last leg, Joe.
02:43They just keep bringing back every fossil, dude, they can find. Just keep bringing them back, man.
02:47That's it. And giving them a lot of money, too. That's even better.
02:50Yep. But, like, LeTang was on a half of a leg here. We'll see if he rejoins the equation.
02:55Yeah, exactly.
02:55It's like, we got more in us. And how about you said last, remember the pictures like in the preseason,
02:59like, hey, Marc-Andre Fleury's back for like a preseason game. Bring the band and get them all back
03:04together and have that reunion tour next year. See if it works in their favor. Because the Flyers
03:08will end it again on those Pittsburgh Penguins. How about this, Joe? TSN reports. Canada versus
03:14the USA in the men's quarterfinal here. We'll see an Olympic gold medal game rematch between the
03:19Canadians and the Americans in the World Championships quarterfinal. How about that?
03:24Look at it. Look at a Chipotle sponsor on the helmet of USA.
03:29Love it. And I bet, Donnie, are you ready? It'll be the most watched quarterfinal ever,
03:37ever will it be. Eyeballs all over the place. As well, it should, because now we've got to watch it
03:42as
03:42well. Look at this, Joe. I mean, hey, when you're in Vegas, how do you blow all steam? You go
03:48to practice,
03:48you break down some film. Oh, no, I'm in a luxury casino in a five-star room. I got some
03:54time to burn.
03:55Let me sit back and relax, Joe. Do you know who's playing there on that table to the right? Who
04:00is
04:00that, Joe? Can I see it? Who is that? That's a good question. Who is that? I can't see it.
04:05Who is
04:05that? Head coach. Certain head coach of a certain hockey team in town to try to get his boys ready
04:11to
04:11play. Hmm. Doesn't look like it worked out to you, does it? No. Avalanche head coach.
04:17That did not work out well. Yeah, that did not work out well. But plenty of time in the offseason,
04:23Donnie, to figure it out, though. They'll have plenty of time. And again, though, if you do play
04:28Vegas, like there is the Vegas flu, and I'm not advocating like, hey, we got to go to Vegas and
04:32party and go out to nightclubs all night. But I got to tell you, like, if you're in Vegas in
04:35a hotel,
04:36and it's like, all right, I can go to bed or just go down five or six floors and play
04:40some blackjack
04:40or craps. Like, come on. Like, you don't get to do that all the time. And you're down 0-3
04:44in a
04:44series. What's the big deal at this point? By the way, breaking news, Joe. Huge news. Did you hear
04:50this? The Avalanche star Nathan McKinnon's going to play in game four against the Golden Knights.
04:54Wait a second. Game was last night. They're home for the holidays now, Joe. Was it such good news
05:00there to get him back and didn't help all that much? No, it didn't. 3-2-1 Cancun. That's where
05:09they're on their way to here. Not, again, another President's Cup trophy winning team. Best record
05:16in the regular season. Yeah. Okay. Enjoy your tee time. 39 wins the Vegas Golden Knights had. Like,
05:24and this is just, in basketball, this rarely happens. Like, these monster upsets. Like,
05:28Vegas wasn't supposed to make the playoffs, then made it. Vegas wasn't supposed to do anything.
05:33And then not, like, on top of that, Joe's like, hey, hard fought game number seven, crazy bounces.
05:37They swept the Avalanche. Entered in the Stanley Cup with Torts. Like, hey, Torts took a while. Six,
05:43eight months to get a set. No. Torts took, like, 24 hours to put a system in. And here they
05:47are once
05:48again in the Stanley Cup final. By the way, Vegas fans, you know how good you have it. It's not
05:52supposed
05:52to be like this. Hey, got a team 10 years ago, and we're, like, three or four times already in
05:56the
05:56Stanley Cup final. That's ridiculous at this point. But John Tortorello probably doesn't want
06:01to get fined. So, he's talking to the media after a clinching win in a series. Let's hear from him.
06:06Well, John, I want to ask you a question about yourself, but I know you'd rather talk about
06:10your team first. So, let's start there. What makes you the most proud of your group?
06:15Well, I, you know how it is. You cover it. The ups and downs of playoffs, momentum swings.
06:23I think our team just stays steady. First couple of rounds, we were down in one of the rounds.
06:28I think they just stay to themselves, and they just play. I know people are tired of hearing that,
06:32but that's all we talk about is, let's just go play.
06:35It's one thing to ask a team to buy into the style of play that you like, blocking shots,
06:39playing hard. You go out there, and you watch your star players and high-end guys do it night in
06:44the night out. Why can this group do that? They know how to win. I watched Jack Eichel block one
06:51there, I think, in the end of the second period. A number of other guys, they've won before,
06:56so they understand what it takes, and I'm proud of them. I'm so fortunate to have the opportunity
07:03to meet a lot of these guys that I didn't know before I came here, and just see how they...
07:08Best part about Torts here, right? Let's just say he leads them to the Stanley Cup championship.
07:13There's a good chance Torts might be fired by, like, January of next year. He's getting through
07:17to the room right now, though, Joe. He is, Dottie. And listen, you got to give credit to the
07:24organization. I mean, this is their third Stanley Cup finals in nine seasons, Dottie. I mean,
07:30that's just... And they just keep re-upping. They push the right buttons. They get the right
07:37players. And look at that. I mean, they're doing something well in Vegas. I wouldn't have thought
07:42it'd be a hockey town, but guess what? It's very much a hockey town. No matter how many sports they
07:48bring in there, it's all about Vegas. Let's hear from Mitch Marner on the champion side as well.
07:54It's been good about staying in the moment and not celebrating too much, but we could see some
07:58emotion on the ice. Just what was that like? Yes, a special moment. Like I said to Sean, I mean,
08:03there's been some dark times in hockey for myself, honestly. I'm thankful for my family,
08:07my brother, my mom and dad, my wife, all my friends around me. So, yeah, you know, that was
08:12a moment just to express some joy and some fun there. And I'll enjoy it for the night and then
08:19be ready to go to work. How do you sum up the last two months? It's been good. It's been
08:25a lot of fun,
08:25to be honest. It's been a lot of hard work, a lot of commitment from every single guy in this
08:28locker room. And that's something you love to see out of your team. Guys just come to work
08:32every day, excited, ready to work. We don't want to make each other better. And on games,
08:37you know, like I said, we have so much trust with whoever's going over the board. So I showed
08:40again today. That's incredible. Like, like Joe, professional athletes obviously live among us.
08:46You go to the mall, they're probably there. You got to a restaurant, they're there. Hockey players
08:49always like astound me because I don't know if I could ever recognize a hockey player outside of
08:55them in their pads and playing hockey. I saw a picture, Joe, like the Flyers. He went to the
08:59Phillies game, like a team ending photo. I was like, these dudes could walk by. You'd have no
09:04idea who they were, what they played or how good they were at their sport.
09:10It's so amazing, right? I blend in like, uh, like you just have no clue as to who they are
09:15or what
09:16they are. It's amazing. Outside of Sydney, like if Sydney Crosby was wearing a pair of shorts,
09:20we're like, what is those three trunks? Oh, that's Sydney Crosby over there. We'll be right back.
09:24How about success on the ice tonight? And boy, those Carolina Hurricanes can drive that
09:30spike right into the Canadians' hearts by taking a 3-1 series lead if they win tonight. But if
09:36Montreal can level up, that means, Joe, we'll get a best of three home ice advantage towards
09:40the Carolina Hurricanes. Taking a look here, the Hurricanes are listed as the favorites to win this
09:46game on the Kelsey marketplace at a 58% chance. That yes contract is 59 cents. So $100 in investment
09:53will pay back $170 on the Carolina Hurricanes if they win. Could this be Montreal's last stand, Joe?
10:01Yeah, well, I, you know, Montreal, the way they've been playing, Donnie,
10:06they'd much rather this game be on the road, uh, given the fact that I think they have lost now
10:11three in a row at home. I think they have lost, um, seven games at home during the playoffs,
10:17which is just absolutely crazy given how, you know, those fans in that building, it should be
10:24one of the best home ices in all of the NHL. And yet Montreal, 5-0 on the road, uh,
10:3010-1 on the road
10:31overall in the playoffs. It's just, uh, unfortunately they're going to have to win one here tonight on
10:38their own home ice. And they have not lost back-to-back games, by the way, Donnie, uh,
10:43since mid-March. So they've lost, uh, that's the last time, in fact, that they've had any sort of
10:48losing streak. I think they bounce back. I think this goes back to Carolina Tide. I think there are
10:55some markets here that involve Montreal, not only in the series, but maybe also, uh, in the, uh,
11:01NHL finals that we need to take a look at because nobody is giving them a shot. I think they
11:08got a
11:08puncher's chance. Puncher's chance. And also the mentions market always ends up here and having a
11:14little bit of fun glass trading at 93% overtime word spoken 90%. How about what a save Joe at
11:2259%.
11:22And by the way, I get a kick out of these ones here, short side and slap shop, both at
11:2738% here
11:28as a chance buzzer. And I don't know why they would say shootout unless it's like a seven to six
11:33game,
11:34because as we know, in the playoffs, Joe, they don't even go to a shootout here. It's a different
11:38ways you can enter the equation. If you don't want to take, let's just say the over this game
11:41and we're aside, you can hit those mentioned markets here.
