00:07Well, today we're over here at the lion exhibit called Lion Camp at the San Diego
00:11Zoo Safari Park. We're here to see Izu's first day intro to his family, Oshana and the spore cubs.
00:25Lions are the only social cat. They live in a pride. Very important that they live together.
00:29So it is always our ultimate goal to get them out there together as a group, as a complete pride.
00:34That was what we did today. Adding the father was the final element. It pretty much replicates what
00:39would happen in the wild. She would go off, have her cubs off on her own. When they're old enough,
00:44she brings them back to the pride, introduces them. Now everybody's together.
00:56The first one we let them out, they go out to venture into the exhibit. Oshana actually went
01:01all the way across the exhibit. This is her first break since those cubs were born. So once dad's
01:08out there with him, she's like, great, you watch him for a while. I'm going over here.
01:14The cubs were just so fascinated with Izu, they just wanted to stay around him. And he was just
01:19kind of making faces and grimacing, barking out a little bit, stay back, stay back. But then finally
01:24he's settled down and laid down and one by one they've been getting on him and crawling on him.
01:28And he's becoming more and more tolerant of it.
01:36He's a great dad. This is his third litter that he's dealt with. So he's had no problems in the
01:41past that we were confident that he was going to be awesome with these cubs. And he was.
