00:05Today at the San Diego Safari Park we're celebrating Monroe's birthday. He's our
00:09one-year-old gorilla. When the gorillas came out on exhibit this morning they
00:13found all kinds of these boxes and presents and things that the volunteers
00:17had made and horticulture brought all kinds of browse and the nutrition felt
00:22the cake and they also came out to a big crowd. We had lots of campers overnight
00:27and they spontaneously broke into happy birthday for Monroe.
00:37All weekend they're getting extra special enrichment items, lots of presents to
00:42open and really it's their diet that we spread out throughout the day but lots of
00:46extra browse. Horticulture has provided lots of variety of browse for them to
00:51eat and play with and just lots of toys and excitement. Each day Monroe is getting
00:56a special birthday cake. It's made out of ice and it's full of fruits and veggies
01:00again all part of their their diet. The candle the cake made today is actually a
01:06carrot and our Forge nutrition crew made these cakes and they really outdid
01:11themselves. So at one year old as you can see if you come out out to visit the park
01:16Monroe is a very busy little guy. He's climbing all over the place. He's very
01:20independent spending lots of time with the other gorillas and just getting into
01:25everything very curious little guy.
