1,500 participants join CPR training in Cebu

A life-saving push took center stage in Cebu as a nationwide hands-only CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) training program expanded here, drawing students, volunteers, and frontline workers into a coordinated emergency response drive. The Sagip CPR campaign gathered about 1,500 participants at the Southwestern University PHINMA Aznar Coliseum on Monday, marking its formal rollout in the Visayas. The program, launched by Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. in August 2025, has trained nearly 50,000 individuals.

00:00Okay. Elbows locked. So dili siya otcho otcho ha? Make sure your elbows are locked. And then, position.
00:22And extend on your left side.
00:31The device is more commonly known as a watchman device.
00:34But there are other brands and things as well.
00:38But that's what this model is supposed to show you.
00:41So I'll leave it here for you to take photos without my hand in the way.
00:46And then the other thing that we talked about.
00:49We set forth a target of a million Filipinos.
00:52So happy to say that, as I said, we have trained about somewhere around 40,000 Filipinos in about 40
01:03different places in the Philippines.
01:06In partnership with schools like FINMA and LGUs as well.
01:16Like we've been to Naga, we've been to Vegan, General Santos, Cotabato.
01:21And so, Kagan de Oro, where we launched.
01:25And Manila, of course.
01:27One last follow-up. Why only hands, only CPI?
01:33It's very easy to learn.
01:35It's also very convenient.
01:37So it doesn't really require any special training.
01:42Apart from, of course, what we conduct.
01:45And any special form of equipment.
01:47So the law actually is mandated as well by the law.
01:51And also, I don't know if you've heard about the Samboy Lim law.
01:55Which mandates training in high school students in the Philippines of Sagipsy PR.
02:00So that's really what we want to sort of jump start.
02:04Because that law never sort of caught fire, so to speak.
02:08And I hope we're able to give that impetus for the implementation of that law.
02:14It's a very simple skill, but the impact is there.
02:17Essentially, that's the answer to your question.
02:21The program is the SWD, I think, two, three to five.
02:25For, what do you call that?
02:28The feeding program.
02:30Pwede pa rin kasi until five years old ang pagdevelop ng brain.
02:34Kaya lang, kung ang first 1,000 days ng bata from the pregnancy up to two years old,
02:41ay hindi na nourished or malnourished siya.
02:45Parang maliit lang ang kanyang development until five.
02:49Up to five years old lang kasi after five, irreversible na po yung pagdevelop ng brain ng bata.
02:56So, twenty years later, sino ba ang namumuno ng ating...
03:01Twenty years later, this child will turn out to be...
03:09How do you call that?
03:13Workers.
03:13Workers.
03:14How do you call it?
03:16Workers.
03:17Workers.
03:17Workers.
03:18Workers.
03:18May be productive, no, force of the country.
03:23But since stunted siya, the stunted child,
03:27na sabi natin kanina, may poor learning ability siya, kulang siya ng opportunity...
03:34We wanted to be here earlier in recognition of Cebu's role as a central node in the Philippine archipelago.
03:42However, I think some logistics issues that stopped us from coming since last year.
03:48We've been wanting to schedule something, but happy that today we managed to get that off the ground.
03:54We have medical missions all over.
03:57I think siya, who's our CSR manager.
04:00And we do also partnerships with the government and other institutions.
04:12So, let me just end with a quote here, no?
04:17From, again, Dr. Luis Gona.
04:19Our long-term vision is clear and unwavering.
04:22A healthier Filipino people with sustainable, equitable access to world-class medicines.
04:26We remain steadfast in our commitment.
04:29No one should be left behind.
04:30So, as I said, we'd like to be seen as being more than just a business.
04:36As a pharmaceutical company and really a partner of the Filipino who has a better life.
04:44Yon.
04:45Next.
04:47So, yeah.
04:49So, proud of this.
05:06See you soon.
05:08Hey.
05:08Yon.
05:15Please.
05:17Take care.
05:21Some users who are experiencing it.
05:24To be alive.
