00:00The country's capability to receive and host thousands of delegates from various countries will be tested in the upcoming ASEAN Tourism Forum, Cebu, as the host of the said event is the first one to get their readiness tested.
00:14Gab Villegas reports.
00:18The Philippines is ready to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum to be held next week in Cebu, which is a hub of regional tourism cooperation and economic recovery.
00:26According to Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco, Cebu's hosting of the ATF is just a showcase of the country's capability to receive and host thousands of delegates from various countries and Cebu's readiness to hold world-class events.
00:40The secretary added that preparations are being carried out through a whole-of-government approach, in which the DOT is in close cooperation with the Cebu provincial government, as well as the LGUs of the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandawe.
00:54Frasco also said that hotels, transport providers, aviation, tourism workers, and other sectors are expected to benefit from the hosting of the forum.
01:03Approximately 5,000 delegates, excluding their accompanying family members and private sector participants, are expected to attend the ATF.
01:12From January 27 to 30, the ASEAN Tourism Forum will bring together tourism ministers, senior officials, national tourism organizations, and industry leaders from ASEAN member states, along with their dialogue partners including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Russia, and India.
