00:00Today's figures show real progress in the NHS. We've got the shortest waiting lists in three years, the best A
00:10&E performance in four years, the best ambulance response times in half a decade and record numbers of cancer patients
00:18are either receiving a diagnosis or the all clear within the 28 day standard we've set.
00:24And despite the pressure of record demand, despite strike action by doctors, we've come within a cat's whisker of hitting
00:33performance targets that when they were set, all of the experts were saying you'll never meet them. Ambulances, for example,
00:39we came within four seconds of hitting that target.
00:42So lots done, lots more to do. I want to reassure people that not only is the NHS finally on
00:51the road to recovery, but we know there is so much more to do.
00:55There are still so many people not receiving the right care in the right place at the right time.
01:00And that's why in the coming year, my foot's down on the accelerator and this government won't let up until
01:06we've got the NHS right back to the standards that we expect and were failed for far too long.
